Chapter 11: The Turning Point
Days passed in a blur of tension and cold silences. Sora had grown accustomed to the loneliness that came with being married to Liam Carter. They lived under the same roof, but barely spoke. Every glance he gave her was filled with disdain, and every word he spoke was laced with venom. But she refused to break. She refused to show him any weakness.
One evening, as she sat in the vast living room, flipping through a magazine, the doorbell rang. It was unusual for anyone to visit at this hour, and Sora's curiosity piqued.
The butler opened the door, and a familiar voice carried through the house.
"Sora?"
She froze.
The last person she ever expected to see was standing in front of her.
"Harry?"
Harry Brown, the infamous but wealthy man she had dated briefly after breaking up with Liam, stood in the doorway, dressed in a sleek suit and holding a bouquet of roses. His dark, tousled hair and sharp features were as striking as ever.
Sora blinked in disbelief. "What are you doing here?"
He smirked. "I thought I'd pay a visit to my ex-girlfriend—after all, I heard you're married now. And I don't recall receiving an invite to the wedding."
She hesitated. "How did you even find me?"
"I know people, Sora." His eyes glinted mischievously. "And I never forget those who were important to me."
Sora felt a wave of discomfort wash over her. She hadn't been in contact with Harry since their brief fling ended months ago. But seeing him now... something stirred inside her. He had always been a little too dangerous, too unpredictable, but that was what made him captivating.
Liam's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Sora," he said from behind her, his tone icy, "who's this?"
Sora turned slowly to find Liam standing at the entrance to the living room. His expression was unreadable, but there was a flicker of something darker in his eyes.
Harry smirked, stepping forward. "I'm Harry Brown. And you must be Liam Carter." He extended his hand.
Liam didn't take it. Instead, he glared at Harry, his jaw clenched. "What do you want with my wife?"
Sora tensed, feeling the atmosphere shift. This was no longer a casual visit.
Harry chuckled, clearly enjoying the tension. "I was just catching up with an old friend." He turned to Sora, his gaze softening. "You look well, despite everything. But I have to admit, I never imagined you'd be married to him."
Liam's face darkened at the mention of his name. "If you know what's good for you, I suggest you leave," he growled, his voice like ice.
But Harry only smirked, stepping closer to Sora. "I'll leave when I'm ready, Liam. I didn't come here to start a fight. I came to remind Sora that not all men are cruel."
Sora's stomach twisted. She wasn't sure if she was grateful for Harry's presence or if he was only making things worse.
Liam, however, was clearly done with the conversation. He turned on his heel, heading toward the door. "Sora," he said over his shoulder, "don't forget your place here."
Before she could respond, he was gone, leaving her alone with Harry.
She exhaled shakily. "That was too much, Harry."
He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean? You're not enjoying the show?"
Sora shook her head, still processing theevents. "No, I'm not. I'm stuck in a marriage that I never wanted, with aman who hates me. And now you—"
She paused, looking at him warily. "You should leave."
Harry's expression softened slightly. "Sora, listen to me. I'm not here to cause trouble, but if you ever need someone to talk to, someone who truly cares about you, you know where to find me."
She couldn't deny the comfort his words brought, but she also knew the danger in getting too close to him.
"Thanks, Harry. But I'm fine," she lied, her voice strained.
With a final glance at her, Harry turned and walked out, leaving her alone in the empty house.
