Bound to My Enemy

Chapter 29: The Celebration

The ballroom glittered with golden light, the clinking of glasses and hum of conversation filling the air. Cartelson Enterprises — a name born from both their legacies — had finally turned around. The company was thriving, its success splashed across headlines, and tonight was the long-awaited celebration of everything they had rebuilt.

Sora stood near the grand window, her champagne flute barely touched as she gazed out at the city skyline. She wore an elegant sapphire gown, the color matching the night sky, her hair twisted into soft waves.

"You look like you're planning your next hostile takeover," Liam teased, sidling up beside her. He handed her a fresh glass of champagne, his dark suit perfectly tailored, his tie slightly loosened.

Sora took the glass with a faint smirk. "Maybe I am. Can't let the company get too comfortable, right?"

Liam chuckled, but there was warmth in his eyes — a softness that hadn't been there before. "I think we've earned a break. For at least one night."

She clinked her glass against his. "To not hating each other anymore."

Liam grinned. "To loving each other, even when it's hard."

They drank, and for the first time, the weight of the past truly felt distant.

Across the room, Sora spotted her mother, who lingered near the buffet table, chatting politely with investors. Her sharp eyes occasionally flicked toward Sora and Liam, but for once, there was no judgment in her gaze. Only quiet observation.

Liam followed Sora's gaze. "She didn't say much to me earlier," he admitted, "but she did say she was proud of you."

Sora's heart tightened. "I'll talk to her later."

Liam nodded, then turned to see his own father laughing with one of the executives. "I haven't seen him that relaxed in years," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "He told me I finally understand what it means to lead."

Sora tilted her head, smiling softly. "You do. And not just the company, Liam. You've led me out of the mess we made."

Liam looked at her like she was the only thing in the room. "We did that together."

The music shifted, and couples slowly began drifting to the dance floor. Liam held out his hand, an eyebrow raised in challenge. "Dance with me?"

Sora laughed. "In front of all these people?"

"They already know we're married," he said with a playful shrug. "Might as well show them we're not just business partners."

She placed her hand in his, and he pulled her into a gentle sway, his hand resting against her lower back, their movements unhurried and close.

As they danced, the crowd blurred into nothing, and for the first time, it didn't feel like a performance. There were no games, no battles for control — just two people who had fought through hell and decided to hold on.

"You know," Sora whispered, her head resting against his chest, "I think we might actually make it."

Liam pressed a kiss to her temple, his heart steady against her ear. "We already have."

And as they turned slowly beneath the glittering chandeliers, the world finally faded away.
