Part 35 The Newcomer

"Because of her, I had loose motion..." Veena said.

"It's because she mixed loose-motion medicine in the chocolate you had. Then only you returned her bag, thinking that she had applied black magic on her..." Arnav, who was standing at the entrance, was making Vidya and Veena stuck.

They didn't expect Arnav to be there. How did Arnav come there? It was a shagun ritual. Gents were not allowed. Then, why did he come here?

"Is it?" Manorama asked.

"Yes, Mami. She stole Khushi's bag. That was the only clue I had to find the girl who saved my life. We thought Veena was the one who saved me because she had Khushi's bag. When we asked her, she pretended to be the girl." Arnav said, glaring at Khushi.

"It's her favourite bag. To get it back from Veena, only Khushi lied that she had done black magic on her. To make her believe it, she mixed loose-motion medicine in a chocolate and made her eat it." Garima said.

"These two tried to fill our ears with bad thoughts about Khushi. They were firm in their stand even after the pandit of the temple flattered Khushi. We understood how bad their intentions are. Being her close relatives, I don't know how they are so cunningly ruining her goodwill..." Nani said, angrily.

"So what if they tried to fill our ears, Sasuma? We know Khushi. No one can manipulate us. We are not weak people to change our mind, listening to others..."

Vidya and Veena were dissatisfied. Their plan flopped again. Khushi smirked, seeing their faces. She wanted them to learn about Raizadas on their own. Then only they would understand that they could do nothing in her matter.

That was when they heard,

"Don't you guys change a bit too?"

Everyone looked at the entrance and saw a man standing with a big suitcase and a bag. Raizadas didn't know who the man was, but the Guptas did. Vidya and Veena gulped hard, whereas Shashi, Garima and Khushi smiled at him.

"Rishi... what a surprise! How come you come to India?" Shashi asked.

Yes, he was Shashi's brother, Rishi Gupta from Saudi Arabia.

Saudi's condition is not good now. Iran is attacking the countries that are supporting the US. My leave got sanctioned as I had already applied for it a month ago..." Rishi said.

"But you didn't tell us anything..." Vidya asked.

"I thought to surprise all of you. But you guys surprised me. Are you trying to create a bad impression of Khushi to her in-laws? Won't you guys change? I worked hard in a foreign country only to give you a luxurious life, but you guys seem to care about it and are doing something to ruin my brother's daughter's life."

Vidya and Veena left the place. Rishi looked at Shashi and said,

"I'm sorry, Bhai. I will take care of them..."

"Leave it... he is my going-to-be son-in-law, Arnav Singh Raizada..."

"Namaste, Damadji..."

"Namaaste..."

"Today is Khushi's shagun..."

"Shagun? But the groom would not be allowed in the Shagun..."

"You are right. But Arnav planned to come here after the shagun ritual was completed. That's why he planned to give a late entry. But something unexpected happened here. So, he missed his timing." Manorama said.

"If you don't want me to be here at the time of Shagun, I will be waiting in the car..." Arnav smiled.

Shashi was supposed to say something, but Rishi took the lead.

"No need, Damadji... however, you came. Your presence will harm us. Please, be seated..."

Somewhat, Arnav expected it. He sat with a smile, looking at Khushi, who showed her thumb.

"See. How happy she is..." Rishi teased.

Khushi grinned, whereas others laughed.

Raizadas gave Shagun to Khushi.

"Tomorrow is Roka. The day after tomorrow is Mehandi. Over morrow will be Sangeeth, and the next day will be Haldi." Nani said.

"Is it fine?" Manorama asked.

"We are fine with it," Garima said.

"It seems they want Khushi to come to their house quickly,' Rishi said.

"Of course, yes, but more than us, the groom wants it to happen," Manorama teased.

"At the same time, he doesn't want any of the rituals to be skipped, because Khushi likes all of them. He doesn't want her to be dissatisfied."

Rishi smiled at Arnav, who was smiling at Khushi.

Raizadas took leave from the Guptas. Khushi gestured for Arnav to call her later. He blinked his eyes and left.

"Our Khushi is so lucky. The Groom seems a nice guy..." Rishi said.

"Yes, he loves Khushi so much," Shashi said.

"I understood that from his gesture. How beautifully he tries to fulfil all her wishes..." he smiled at Khushi. She left the place smilingly.

"Bhai, do you have enough money for the wedding?" Rishi asked with concern.

"Of course, yes. I saved all my earnings for her future." Shashi said.

"That's great. If you need anything, you can ask me. I know I don't have to tell you that. It's my responsibility to tell you that." Rishi said.

Shashi nodded.

Rishi opened the suitcase and took a jewel box out. He extended it to Shashi.

"This is my gift for Khushi's wedding..."

"Jewel? No, Rishi... you are here to attend her wedding. It's enough for us. We don't want this jewel."

"But, why? Don't I have the right to gift her?"

"I didn't mean it. The gold rate is touching its peak. It's not a simple thing to buy gold these days. Give it to your daughter..."

"Isn't Khushi my daughter? Do you think I show a difference from my daughter?"

"I didn't mean it..."

"Then what? I brought it for Khushi. If you don't want it, throw it in the dustbin... but I don't take it back. Is that clear?" he went to his portion, not waiting there.

Shashi and Garima smiled at each other.

"This guy won't change..." Shashi said.

Garima nodded.

When Rishi entered their portion, he saw Vidya and Veena glaring at him. He closed the door and asked,

"What?"

"What did you do? Why did you buy a jewel for Khushi? Do you think they are waiting for your arrival? They didn't even invite you to the wedding. Then, why the hell did you give the jewel? Why did you force them to take it when they didn't want it?" Vidya shouted.

"He is planning to make us stand in the middle of the road, I suppose. Why are you so interested in your brother's daughter when they don't give heed to you?" Veena asked irritably.

Rishi was silently looking at them.

"Why are you silent? What's in your mouth? Speak up..." Vidya said.

"I'm not a fool to move my cards as you do..." he said, making them confused.

"What do you think? Can you stop the marriage by doing some useless ploys? It will not work. We should move our cards with them. We should make them trust us. Then only we can move our cards freely because they won't doubt us."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying that we can't stop the marriage if we follow your style. Just leave it on me. I know when and how to hit the bird..." Rishi said with an evil smirk, making Vidya and Veena stun.

To be continued...
