Part 24 Nervousness

Shashi was shocked. He knew Arnav had been attacked, and Khushi saved him. Arnav didn't hide it from them, and he himself told them about it. But he didn't know they would be furious to the extent of killing Khushi. And adding to it, this mother and daughter wanted Khushi to die. He could not tolerate it. Here, he was worried about Veena's delayed arrival, but they wished for Khushi's death. What kind of people were they! Were they living with such people? Shashi felt a shiver in him.

"How did they think you saved Arnav?" Vidya asked.

"Because of Khushi's bag..."

"I didn't get you."

"Arnav's manager followed me, seeing me having Khushi's bag because Khushi had the bag when she saved Arnav. They saw the bag in the CCTV footage and searched for the girl with the bag. They found me with the bag and misunderstood that I'm the girl. But later, the auto driver who helped Khushi to admit Arnav to the hospital saw Khushi with Arnav and told him the truth. Arnav became furious with me and asked me to get out of his car..."

"Really? How dare he?"

"Yes, I had no choice but to get out of his car and walk to the taxi stand. That was when a man came to me and said, Aman wanted to talk to me."

"Who is Aman?"

"Arnav's manager."

"Oh, yes, you told me..."

"I went with him. When I got into the car, he tied my hands and blindfolded me."

"You know, Arnav got to know you didn't save him. Then why did you go to his manager?"

"It's because Arnav just learned the truth, but Aman didn't. I thought I could do something and get into their good book..."

Vidya sighed.

"They hit me like hell for saving Arnav. I told them that it was not me, but they didn't trust me. Thank God, they learned the truth. That's why they left me."

"I'm glad that they left you."

"But they will not leave Khushi."

"But her wedding is fixed with Arnav."

"It should not happen. That's why I say don't tell them about it. She should not be happy..."

"Why would I tell them? I will not..."

"That's all. Forget everything..." Veena said.

Shashi left the place silently.

Veena smirked. She intentionally said everything for Shashi to hear. So, he would stop the wedding and also Khushi from going to the office. More than that, Shashi might leave Delhi to save Khushi's life. But Shashi thought differently.

He came to his room and found Garima sleeping deeply. Why not? After all, she was over the moon due to Khushi's wedding. Taking his phone, he dialled Arnav, not caring that it was late.

Arnav, who had just disconnected Khushi's call, took his phone and became surprised to see Shashi's number. He attended the call hurriedly with confusion they what made Shashi call him at this hour.

"Hello uncle... Is everything all right?"

"I don't think so,"

"What happened, uncle?"

"I learned something....

"What?"

"Veena didn't come home, and her mother waited for her."

"Yeah, I knew...."

"She didn't come home earlier because she was kidnapped..."

"Kidnapped?" Arnav frowned as he had no reason to think of the right reason for the kidnapping.

"Because the kidnappers thought she was Khushi..."

"Whaaaat?"

"Yes," Shashi told him, whatever he heard from Veena.

Arnav was shocked. Was Khushi supposed to be killed for saving him?

"My daughter's life is in danger," Shashi said.

Arnav was scared because he expected Shashi to stop the marriage, and it was obvious. Any father would do that to save his daughter's life.

"Arnav, I should stop the marriage and take Khushi away from Delhi to save her life. But I don't want to do that because I don't think I could protect her life alone, but you could do that. She will be safe with you more than she is with us. So please get married to her as soon as possible and take to your home. Keep her safe..."

Arnav sighed in relief. Thank God, Shashi didn't think in the way he thought. Shashi trusted him. He should save Khushi and Shashi's trust.

"Thank you for trusting me, uncle."

"I have no choice, Arnav. It seems the kidnappers are so aggressive. They are powerful enough to hit Arnav Singh Raizada. Then what could a common man like me do? That's why I say, please arrange your wedding soon."

"I will do that, uncle. Until our marriage, Khushi didn't need to come to the office on a bike. I will send the car every day to pick her up."

"I will be glad if you pick her up every day..." Shashi put his obligation.

Arnav was stuck as he didn't expect it. He understood how nervous Shashi was about Khushi's safety.

"Gladly..."

"Thank you, Arnav. Please try to find who wants to kill Khushi."

"I will surely do that, uncle."

"You too, be careful. Please don't trust anyone..."

"Sure, uncle,"

"Will you tell Khushi about it?"

"Do you want me to tell her?"

"I don't want her to know it DIRECTLY because she will be scared, but warning her is important."

"I will take care of it, uncle," Arnav said confidently.

"Bye," Shashi disconnected the call.

Arnav became thoughtful. His business rival, Narendar was in police custody. The goons stated he was the one hired them to kill him. If he was behind the ploy, how did he dare kill Khushi when he was under police custody? Why did it feel like something was missing?

He called Aman without thinking of anything. He was not in the condition to think anything. Aman attended the call in the last ring as he had slept. He woke up jerking and attended to it.

"Hello..."

"Aman..."

Aman's sleep fled herring Arnav's voice.

"What happened, ASR? Is everything all right?" He asked in croky voice.

"No... Absolutely no..."

Aman sat on the bed.

"What's the matter, ASR?"

"Some people kidnapped Veena, mistakenly..."

"Mistakenly means?" Aman could not understand.

"They wanted to kill the girl who saved me. Or, maybe, who ruined their plan..." Arnav guessed.

"How is it possible? Narendar is under police control. Then how would he make any move again? Would not it turn against him?" Aman analysed it quickly.

"Exactly. Then why did he make a move?"

Aman was silent.

"Was that really Naren who made the attempt?" Arnav asked.

"I don't know what to say, ASR. This is confusing. We can't say Naren would not have done that. At the same time, he could have done that to divert us, too. Because we are suspecting now. He could have done that to create such doubt in our minds. Because the benefit of the doubt would be his." Aman said.

Arnav became thoughtful again. He was confused. He could not conclude. He didn't know who was behind the kidnapping. He wanted to know that. To protect Khushi... To pay back...

To be continued...
