Part 29 consolation
Khushi looked at Arnav who drove the car with a rigid expression.
"Arnavji, are you angry with me?" Khushi asked.
Neither Arnav replied nor did he look at her.
"I understood you are angry with me."
"Thank Goodness, at least you understood that." He changed the gear roughly.
Khushi gulped down and bit her nail.
"I didn't know your enemies were so sharp and would follow me. I didn't expect it, Arnavji..."
"But, I told you... I warned you not to go alone. Didn't I?"
"Haann... But I thought you were overthinking..."
Arnav looked at her shrinking his eyes.
"No no... I just thought... But yoy are not..." She said in a low tone.
Arnav rolled his eyes.
"Trust me, Arnavji. I will never defy you. I will obey you..."
"It's not about obeying me. I'm talking about your safety. How could you be so playful, Khushi? The goons who do anything for money would not think of anything."
"That's why I cornered them with the same money"
"No goons would listen to your story. Don't be under the illusion that you can manage all the situations."
"Ok... I will not be in the illusion..." She said pouting.
"Tell me, why did you go alone even after I said not to?"
Khushi bit her nail not knowing whether to tell him about the rat issue.
"Why are you silent?"
"Actually..."
"Make sure you will tell me the truth."
Khushi gulped hard.
"I went to buy rat poison."
"Whaaaat? Rat poison? But why?"
"To kill the rats... What else?"
Arnav looked at her unbelievably.
"Don't look at me like I'm a ghost. This is I didn't want you to know about it." She pouted.
"Ok... Tell me..."
"I saw a rat at our home."
"What? Does your house have rats?" He asked in shock.
She nodded yes.
"I know a chocolate boy like you will not stand it. That's why I want to kill them before our marriage."
"We can do that through a pest control team..."
"Please don't talk like my Babuji. Do you know how irritating it is to rearrange the house after work? We can do ten weddings easily but pest work..."
Arnav rolled his eyes.
"Instead, we can easily kill the rats with this poison." She showed the poison.
"Did you really get it?"
"Then, how could we kill them? I will mix this with the mixture and keep it at the stone places. The rats will eat it relishing and die...haha..." She looked at Arnav pressing her lips.
Arnav controlled his laughter, biting his inner lip.
"Is it necessary to play a villain role for rats?" He asked seriously.
"If we show mercy, then, our condition will be miserable... I will put an end card tonight..."
Arnav shook his head from left to right.
"I don't want you to know about this. Theaters why my Amma and I planned secretly. But, you found out." She sighed.
"You don't have to do it. I will send a few men to complete the work. Ok?"
"Will they rearrange the house?"
"Mmm..."
"Really? "
"Yesss..."
"Thank God... Then no problem..." She sat straight huffing in relief.
"It's a simple issue. For that, you put yourself at risk." Arnav said with disappointment and Khushi scratched her forehead, feeling awkward.
She thought something and smiled at Arnav. He looked at her from the corner of his eye and raised his brows.
"What? What's so funny?"
"You are the most eligible bachelor in the city..."
Arnav looked at her frowning and then at the road. He didn't know why she said that suddenly.
"So?"
"I feel so proud..."
"You feel proud because I'm an eligible bachelor?"
"No... That eligible bachelor is in love with me... Worrying about me... Getting upset about my betterment..."
Arnav rolled his eyes, trying hard not to smile.
"Many girls would be jealous of me, right?"
Arnav looked at her and said nothing.
"I should ask my Amma to find a good way to remove bad vibes. Or else, I will fall ill..."
Arnav shook his head from left to right smiling.
"Don't smile, one of the girls sent the goons to finish me. Didn't you hear what they said? They said, SHE..."
Arnav became thoughtful.
"Don't know how many dangers we should face..."
"You follow my instructions. Don't do anything hunky ponky... Is that clear?"
"Yes, Boss..." She saluted.
GH
Shashi welcomed Arnav.
"Where is the birthday baby?" Arnav asked smiling.
Khushi chuckled and Shashi laughed.
"She is getting ready..."
They saw Garima coming in a new saree.
"Happy Birthday, Aunty..." Arnav said.
"Thank you, beta..."
That was when Khushi noticed Arnav didn't bring cakes. She leaned towards him and asked,
"Arnavji, where are the cakes?"
Arnav looked at her in shock. Khushi was horror-struck.
"Have you forgotten?"
Arnav bit his lip.
"In the process of scolding me, did you forget the cakes?" She asked disappointedly.
Shashi tapped her shoulder.
"Sorry, Babuji... He forgot it in the work tension. I suppose. I will bring one from the nearby bakery..."
Khushi took her handbag and removed her purse to go to the cake shop.
"Wait... Why are you overreacting?" Garima asked.
"Amma, this is your birthday. He forgot to..."
Cutting her off,
"He didn't forget. He sent it already..."
"Sent it? But, it's not on the table..."
"Go and get fresh first. Then, we will bring it to the table."
"But..."
"Go..."
Khushi rolled her eyes and went to her room, looking here and there for the cake. Arnav took a seat smilingly.
"Sorry, I can't provide you with coffee... Then, you can't have the cake." Garima said.
"It's ok aunty..."
Khushi came washing her face.
"Where is the cake?" She asked.
Garima and Shashi went to the fridge and took out the cakes.
Khushi opened her mouth awe-struck.
"Wow... Ice cakes..." She became excited.
Arnav smiled.
"Did you bring Ice cakes?"
"You usually eat ice cream... So, I bought ice cakes."
"You are so sweet, Arnavji..." She said delightfully.
Arnav gretured for her to see her parents. She grinned at them awkwardly.
"Come on, cut the cake..." Arnav said.
"Don't you invite Vidya and Veena?" Garima asked Shashi.
He was supposed to say no, but Khushi rushed to their portion to bring them. Shashi and Garima spared a glance.
Khushi came with Vidya and Veena.
"Why did you call us?" Asked Vidya.
Khushi didn't tell them the matter and said, Shashi called them. So, they came blankly.
"It's my Amma's birthday today. That's why Babuji called you."
Before they said, anything,
"Amma, cut the cake before it melts..." Khushi intentionally said that.
"Melt?" Vidya asked.
"Yeah, Arnavji bought ice cakes because I love ice cream..." She said flaunting.
Vidya and Veena burned in jealous.
Garima gestured for Khushi to cut the cake. They cut simultaneously and fed it to each other.
"Wow... Arnavji... The cake is awesome. I want to marry you for this cake..." She cut another piece and kept it in a plate. She gave it to Arnav.
He took it from her and fed a scoop. She gladly ate it, looking at Veena from the corner of her eyes.
"Khushi, keep the cake in the fridge..." Garima said.
"No, Amma, we will give it to our neighbour children."
Khushi rushed out and called a boy next door.
"Javid..."
"Haan, didi...?"
"Bring everyone. We will eat ice cream..."
"Wow, really?" He ran to the next house.
Khushi came inside. She knew Javid would bring all the children.
As she expected, Javid gathered all the children. They became excited to see ice cakes. Khushi and Garima distributed the cake.
"Thank you, didi..."
"You should thank him..." Khushi said, stuffing ice cream in her mouth.
The children looked at Arnav.
"Thank you, uncle."
"Didi, who is he?" A cute girl asked.
"I'm going to marry him. Then who is he?" Khushi whispered.
"Husband?" She asked in a guazy tone.
Khushi winked.
"He is Khushi didi's husband..." The girl shouted and ran.
"Where are you going?" Garima asked.
"I'm going to tell my Amma..." She fled.
Khushi was horrified. She knew what would happen. The area women would gather at GH to see Arnav.
To be continued...
