Part 3 Termination

Gupta House

Khushi came home from her friend's marriage. She walked towards their portion, ignoring her Chachi Vidya and her cousin Veena.

"Now only, are you coming?" Vidya asked.

"No, no... I came yesterday itself. But it was not an auspicious time. So, I went back and came now..." she said with an attitude and walked to their portion.

The house was Gupta's Native Property. Shashi and Rishi were brothers. Vidya was Rishi's wife, and Veena was their daughter. Vidya and Veena didn't like Khushi, especially her growth. Their stomach burned whenever she achieved anything. Khushi never gave them heed. In fact, she teased them by adding oil to their jealousy fire by doing something special. She liked doing that. Teasing them was her main entertainment.

Khushi came to Garima and hugged her from behind.

"Amma... I came..."

"How did the wedding happen?"

"Fantastic with full of fun..."

"What are you guys talking about?" Shashi asked.

"About my friend's wedding..."

Khushi rushed to him and hugged him.

"I missed you, Babuji."

"Lair... enjoying the wedding to the fullest, did you miss me?"

"It's different. I enjoyed the wedding; it doesn't mean I didn't miss you."

"Go and get fresh. We will have lunch together." Shashi said.

"Ok... I got sweets from Lucknow, especially for you..."

"For us? As if you don't touch that...?"

"Amma, I will die if you ask me not to touch sweets... why should I live without sweets?"

Shashi and Garima chuckled.

"Don't be so fond of sweets. Life always snatches what we like the most..."

"No way. However, there is no history of diabetes in our family. So, coolll..."

She rushed to the washroom.

Khushi got changed and removed the sweet boxes from her bag. She brought it to the dining table and kept it in front of them.

"Didn't you buy it for your Chachaji?"

Khushi made a weird face and didn't answer. Shashi laughed.

"Khushi, you are a nice girl, but you are too bad with your Chachaji's family..." Garima said.

"As if they are too good to me...?"

"They are like that, Khushi. It's their character. But you are not like them. Right?"

"Amma, don't try to make me like you. I'm not stupid enough to be good to bad. They don't like me and my development. They want my downfall, and you want me to treat them like old movie heroines?" She asked sarcastically.

Shashi again laughed.

"Stop laughing. She is like this because of you..."

"She is always right. I know my daughter. I don't want her to be naïve."

Khushi winked at Shashi.

After lunch, Khushi took the items out of the bag that she had brought from Lucknow.

Garima took the RED colour sling bag and hung it on the wall.

"This bag looks so nice," Garima said.

"After all, my friend bought me from Singapore only for me..." Khushi raised her imaginary collar with pride.

The next day

Raizada Mansion

Arnav was discharged from the hospital. Manorama circled the tali and welcomed him.

"How are you, Arnav bituwa?" Manorama asked, hugging him emotionally.

"I'm alright, Mami."

"Is it paining?" Nani asked.

He nodded no.

"Dadi, you are asking as if Nannav will accept his pain and cry lying on your lap..." NK countered.

"Yeah, when did Bhai accept his pain?" Akash smiled.

"Did you find who attacked you?" Manorama asked.

Arnav nodded no.

"Whoever he is, he will not be fine. He will face worse in his life..." Manorama cursed the person who hit Arnav.

Arnav shook his head, smilingly and went to his room.

"Who would have beaten our Arnav Bituwa?" Manorama asked.

"Bhai has many rivals in business, Ma. We can't guess who." Akash said.

"Aki is right. Nannav has many enemies. Anyone could have beaten him up..."

"Cowards... having no guts to face him face to face, they hit him. They will not live peacefully... mark my words..." Manorama again cursed.

Manorama had a special place in Arnav's life. When he was unable to start a business, she was the one who helped him by giving him her jewels as capital. Arnav never left her side, no matter what. And Manorama's love for Arnav was motherly.

...........

Khushi got ready for the office. Taking a lunch box, she was supposed to leave the house, but stopped, hearing a beep sound. She opened the message and read it.

"Whaaat?" She was shocked.

"What happened, Beta?"

"I'm terminated from my office..." She said, making a crying face.

"But why?" Garima asked.

Khushi nodded her head from left to right.

"This is what MNC companies... we can't question them," Shashi said.

Khushi pouted.

"Haha... is it gone?" Veena laughed out loud.

"This is why we should be polite. You should not have flaunted a lot about your good pay. Poor you, lost your job." She annoyed Khushi.

Khushi gritted her teeth. Shashi pressed her shoulder and said,

"Don't worry, you will get a nice job..."

"Haan, Khushi, if you lose something, you will get better than that," Garima said.

"How is it possible, Badima? Who will pay her more than fifty thousand? She just got that job by fluke. Blind luck will not help her every time, Badima. I should tell this good news to my Amma." She left the place laughingly.

Khushi fumed.

"Don't get upset beta... forget her..." Shashi said regretting.

Khushi sighed and left the place. She came to her room and called her friend Lavanya. She attended the call. Before she even said, hi,

"I immediately want a job..." Said Khushi.

"Job? You are in a good job already..."

"They terminated me..."

"Whaaat? Didn't you know that coming?"

"My colleagues talked about it, but I didn't expect my name in the list..."

Lavanya sighed.

"Ok, don't worry. I will ask my brother if any vacancy is there in his office."

"Please do it... I can't tolerate Veena's annoyance."

"Did she start?"

"Mmm..."

"Ok, if there is no vacancy in my brother's office, I will ask him to try in his friend's office. Ok?"

"Thank you, Lavi..."

Khushi disconnected the call.

The next day

Khushi took a bath and got ready to go to the temple. Veena and Vidya saw that.

"Khushi, I think you have forgotten that you lost your job..." Veena said, and Vidya laughed.

"I'm not a well frog like you, who doesn't know anything other than the well. I have many places to go and many friends to visit..." Khushi said and left the place.

When she came to the main road to take an auto, she saw a school student fall while crossing the road and her knee was wounded. She cried, sitting in the middle of the road. People shouted at her to get up.

In no time, Khushi rushed to the girl and lifted her. She beckoned an auto and took the girl to the hospital.

Arnav, who waited for the signal, watched the scene, sitting in his car, and was impressed. He remembered the girl who saved his life. He felt bad for being unable to find her. He saw the signal change to GREEN. He changed the gear and left the place to meet the auto driver who helped the girl to admit him to the hospital. Even though Aman had already met him, he wanted to meet him personally and inquire about the girl. He was full swing to find her no matter what.
