DESTINY CHAPTER 56 [14th February 2012]
Soo-yeon sat in front of the computer at her workplace. She was no longer a model and she had gotten a new job at a big telecommunication firm.
She got distracted by a delivery guy who stepped into her office with a big bouquet of purple flowers.
Whoever got that sure is extravagant.Soo-yeon thought to herself before she continued with her work.
After speaking to the receptionist, the delivery person then started towards her desk.
“Good Day, are you Soo-yeon? These flowers are for you,” the delivery man said.
Soo-yeon signed for the flowers before accepting it.
“Wow, that sure is a huge bunch of flowers,” Soo-yeon’s colleague said as she joined Soo-yeon at her table.
“Indeed,” Soo-yeon said as she looked around for a spot to hold the flowers.
“Your lover is so sweet, I wish I received such a huge bouquet of flowers from mine,” Soo-yeon’s colleague said in envy.
“Oh well, that’s what you get when you are with a private investigator who doesn’t have time to bring you out for a Valentines day dinner. Just so you know, this is an apology bouquet,” Soo-yeon explained.
Her colleague laughed, “Oh well, at least there are flowers.”
“Who needs flowers,” Soo-yeon said followed by a sigh.
“Don’t fret, you’ve got a lifetime together. It’s just valentines day,” Soo-yeon’s colleague said in an attempt to console Soo-yeon.
“I guess,” Soo-yeon said as she chucked the flowers at the corner of her cubicle. There wasn’t enough space on her desk.

Soo-yeon had just ended work and she left the office with her colleague.
It was a long day and Soo-yeon was feeling tired. Her colleague had asked her out for dinner, but she declined.
Soo-yeon headed home alone. When she arrived home, the house was dark and gloomy.
She had moved out for about 7 months now and she missed returning home to be greeted by Soo-jung.
Life was different for her now. Soo-jung popped by occasionally, but it was still different from before. Their father had also switched jobs so that he could spend more time at home with Soo-jung now that Soo-yeon had moved out.
Things had gotten slightly complicated the past year or so and Soo-yeon had landed herself in a terrible mess. Everything that happened in the past two years were a blur, but this is where it had gotten her.
Soo-yeon sat down on the couch and switched on the television. It was not her ideal Valentines day, but then again Valentines day was just another day that held no meaning.
Vivid colors filled the TV screen and people were laughing but Soo-yeon couldn’t seem to absorb anything.
She spaced out and images of the previous Valentines day started to fill her mind.
*Flashback*
[14th February 2011]
Soo-yeon and Taeyeon were on a chartered Yacht in Auckland.
The both of them were laying on a huge beanbag at the front of the Yacht. It was a beautiful night and the skies were clear.
Soo-yeon was laying snugly in Taeyeon’s arms and enjoying every bit of their trip.
Taeyeon had booked them both tickets to New Zealand. It was a surprise that she has planned for Soo-yeon which explains why the both of them were out on a Yacht in Auckland.
And as if the surprise trip wasn’t good enough, Taeyeon had chartered a Yacht for the night so that the both of them could spend some time alone out at sea.
“Baby, you’re the sweetest person ever. This is definitely one Valentines day I’ll never forget,” Soo-yeon said as she nuzzled Taeyeon’s neck with her nose.
Taeyeon giggled, “Don’t do that, it tickles.”
Soo-yeon placed her lips inches from Taeyeon’s ears and whispered, “I love you.”
Taeyeon squirmed once more, “That tickles too my dear.”
“I know,” Soo-yeon said mischievously.
“Isn’t the night sky so beautiful?” Taeyeon changed the topic quite suddenly.
Soo-yeon looked up to the sky at the blanket of stars. “Yes, it is quite a charming night. Especially with all those stars littering the sky.”
“I love that I can just lay here with you in my arms,” Taeyeon said gently.
“I’m loving it too,” Soo-yeon said in response.
“So how are you enjoying your little surprise so far?” Taeyeon asked Soo-yeon.
“I’m enjoying it a lot. You sure know how to plan surprises better than Sunny’s husband.”
“Good to know,” Taeyeon said with a smile, “Anyway I hate to say this but I have to go to the bathroom.”
Soo-yeon giggled at Taeyeon’s sentence. It was just the way she said it that made it seem so funny.
“Silly baby, just go.” Soo-yeon moved aside and allowed Taeyeon to get up.
Soo-yeon then sat on the beanbag alone as Taeyeon went off to the bathroom.
The sound of the waves lapping against the side of the Yacht was extremely relaxing.
Soo-yeon shut her eyes and enjoyed the sound of nature. It was just so peaceful.
Soo-yeon smiled to herself as she thought of everything Taeyeon had done for her so far. It was one surprise after another. Soo-yeon never did saw the night on the Yacht coming.
“Is someone smiling to herself?” Taeyeon’s voice interrupted the silence of the night.
“Who’s smiling?” Soo-yeon said as she looked up at Taeyeon.
“You are,” Taeyeon said as she sat down behind Soo-yeon.
Taeyeon started kneading Soo-yeon’s shoulders very tenderly and lovingly. “So, I kept my promise and gave you stars didn’t I?”
Taeyeon was referring to one of the conversations they had previously and Soo-yeon had mentioned that she wanted the stars in the sky.
“You call this giving me the stars in the sky? You fail.” Soo-yeon teased. Deep inside she was truly blown away, but she enjoyed teasing Taeyeon.
“Alright then let me see if I can grab a star for you.” Taeyeon said as she stopped kneading Soo-yeon’s shoulders.
Taeyeon held her hand to the sky and pointed at the brightest star, “Is that star big enough for you?”
“Yes, let’s see you grab that star,” Soo-yeon replied.
“Ok, here goes,” Taeyeon said as she did a swift grabbing motion with her hand.
Soo-yeon laughed at Taeyeon’s silly action. “The star is still there, just so you know.”
“Oh really?” Taeyeon said as she looked up at the sky. “I guess I failed.”
“Silly, I don’t need the star. I have you.” Soo-yeon said sweetly.
“But I never break any promises remember?” Taeyeon said as she held her clenched fist in front of Soo-yeon’s face, “The star is in there.”
Soo-yeon laughed at Taeyeon’s silly antic. “You’re just so silly sometimes.”
Taeyeon smiled at Soo-yeon and gave her a tender kiss on the cheeks.
Taeyeon then ran her hands gently along Soo-yeon’s neck.
Moments later, Soo-yeon felt something cold and hard fall gently against her chest.
“You see baby, as promised, here’s your star.” Taeyeon whispered lovingly into Soo-yeon’s ears. “Happy Valentines Day.”
She looked down and saw the sparkle of a star shaped diamond pendant.
*End of Flashback*
Soo-yeon was startled when she felt a warm kiss to her cheeks.
“Happy Valentines D— Why is my darling crying?”
Soo-yeon quickly wiped the tears away from her cheeks.
“I thought I had to spend Valentines Day alone that’s why,” Soo-yeon said in a nasal voice. “It’s ok now that you’re back.”
“I just wanted to surprise you that’s all.”
“Well you surprised me alright.” Soo-yeon said.
“Now now my dear, you’re going to be a mother soon so quit being a cry baby. I’m here by your side now.”
Soo-yeon took a tissue from the coffee table and wiped the tears that were still trickling down her cheeks. It was hard to stop her tears from flowing.
“Ok, daddy Jonghyun is going to prepare dinner for mummy Soo-yeon now. Stop crying ok?”
Jonghyun then kissed Soo-yeon on the cheeks once more before heading to the kitchen to prepare his wife a Valentines Day dinner.
DESTINY CHAPTER 57 [ 6th August 2011]
Soo-yeon leaned against the sink for support. Her mind was blank in that moment.
The only thing that replayed in her head was the moment where the pink line appeared on the test kit she had in her hands.
The instructions clearly stated '...a pink line indicates a positive pregnancy...'
Soo-yeon was devastated at the results.
It must be a mistake. It can't be. We only did it once. It can't be. It can't be.
Soo-yeon retrieved the other test kit and repeated the test half an hour later.
The results appeared. There was no change.
The pink line stood clearly visible, giving Soo-yeon affirmative results.
She was at a loss. She did not know what to do next.
She knew clearly that Jonghyun was the father of the child.
It was a mistake. The night it happened was a terrible mistake. Everything was a mistake.
Why did Taeyeon have to leave me.
Soo-yeon sat on the toilet bowl and started sobbing to herself.

[ 1st July 2011]
Soo-yeon was at a bar with Kang-In and Jonghyun. She had been constantly seeking comfort in alcohol lately. It was a habit that started after Taeyeon broke up with her.
Jonghyun tried to dissuade her from drinking, but she would not stop. In fact, it was not that she would not, It was more like she could not.
She tried her best not to turn to alcohol but every single time her heart started hurting, she could not resist picking up a can of beer.
Every time Soo-yeon drank, she drank till she blacked out so that she would not have to suffer the pain of thinking of Taeyeon.
The first time she attempted drowning her sorrows in alcohol was sometime in May, approximately two weeks after the break up.
She drank alone in a park near her place and she blacked out on a bench. It was fortunate that Jonghyun was in the area and he sat on the bench with her until she sobered up.
The weird thing was, after Soo-yeon got drunk, it almost felt like Taeyeon was there taking care of her. That was also one of the reasons she continued to drink.
If she could attain the feeling of Taeyeon being by her side when she drank, she would drink. It was as simple as that.
Soo-yeon needed Taeyeon and she would do anything to get whatever she could get even if it was her imagination.
Since then, Jonghyun was always there with her when she needed a drink. It became a frequent indulgence and Jonghyun ended up spending most of his time with her. Kang-In was there occasionally, but not as often as Jonghyun was.
Soo-yeon's tolerance for alcohol went up and she had to drink more to achieve the same effect three cans of beer once had on her.
By the time Soo-yeon had her seventh can of beer, Jonghyun and Kang-In decided that it was time to send her home.
Jonghyun had gotten closer to Soo-yeon over the months and she constantly confided in him.
She had been asking him to track Taeyeon down, but it seemed like Taeyeon was too good at evading everyone.
Another reason why Soo-yeon kept hanging around Jonghyun was because he reminded her of Taeyeon in some odd manner.
The things he did and said at times reminded her of Taeyeon. She could see Taeyeon even in the way he speaks. He was an imperfect replica of Taeyeon, but he was the closest she could ever get to Taeyeon.
It was as if she vanished from the face of the earth.
Soo-yeon and Jonghyun were walking towards the car. "I'll send you home now alright?" Jonghyun said to Soo-yeon.
Soo-yeon shook her head and murmured, "No."
"Why not? It's getting late." Jonghyun said as he supported Soo-yeon by the shoulders.
Soo-yeon started tearing. "I get reminded of Taeyeon every time i'm home."
"Ok, but I need to get home soon. Do you want to stay over at my place? I'll get the maid to prepare another room for you," Jonghyun suggested.
"Anything beats going home," Soo-yeon replied, slightly breathless. The alcohol was taking effect and it made walking difficult.
Jonghyun stopped and he held Soo-yeon to his chest. "Here just lean against me and rest up for a bit."
Soo-yeon obliged. She had no strength to continue.
The sound of Jonghyun's steady heartbeat started to sound like a lullaby and Soo-yeon could feel herself slipping into a state of comatose.

Jonghyun stood with Soo-yeon in his arms. It was almost as if she fell asleep. "Soo-yeon ah, Soo-yeon," Jonghyun called out gently.
He got no reaction from her so he decided to carry her to his car. He picked her up with his strong arms and he arrived at the car in no time.
It was quite a feat to unlock the car doors and settle her in the passengers seat, but he managed after a while.
He started his car and made his way home. It was an hour long journey.
After he pulled into the garage, Soo-yeon was still sleeping soundly.
Jonghyun did not want to wake her so he picked her up and started towards one of the many guest rooms in his house.
He was walking past his father's study when the door opened.
"Oh, Tae—" Before he could even complete his sentence, he felt a hand clamp against his mouth.
It was Taeyeon's hands.
She held a finger to her lips and then pointed at Soo-yeon.
Jonghyun nodded. He understood her perfectly.
It was an awkward relationship the three of them had. Soo-yeon was hopelessly in love with Taeyeon, Taeyeon was avoiding Soo-yeon, and Jonghyun was in love with Soo-yeon.
It was tough for him to see the girl he was in love with to be so heartbroken over someone else, and of all the people in the world, it had to be the mentor he so respected and idolized.
Taeyeon walked by Jonghyun's side as he brought Soo-yeon to the room. She held the door open and stood in the doorway as Jonghyun brought Soo-yeon into the room.
He then exited and shut the door behind him. "Did you just meet with my dad?" He asked Taeyeon. He could tell that she was slightly distracted by her disposition.
Taeyeon nodded. "How's she coping?" Taeyeon asked with an emotionless expression.
"She has been drowning herself in alcohol lately. It's worrying but nobody can stop her."
"Jong, I trust that you'll take good care of her. Try to help her as best as you can. She'll forget about me soon enough. It'll take time, but she'll eventually not remember a thing about me."
"I promise to take care of her for as long as I live," Jonghyun replied.
"Good. I'm counting on you," Taeyeon said as she squeezed his arm, "I'll be glad if she ends up with you."

Jonghyun sat by Soo-yeon's bed. He was sponging her with a damp towel. The lights were off and the room was illuminated by the soft glow of the moon.
He gently stroked her cheeks just as he was about to stand up and leave the room.
Taeyeon had just left not too long ago after giving him a long hug. She was thankful that he had been making himself available to Soo-yeon through such a difficult time.
"Don't leave me," Soo-yeon said in a soft murmur.
Jonghyun sat back down on the bed by Soo-yeon and adhered to her request.
Soo-yeon then continued with a whisper, "Hug me and don't leave my side."
Jonghyun was shocked at her request, but he did as she wanted. He climbed into bed and spooned her.
Moments later, she turned towards him. He could see her features clearly as the moon lit her face. Her eyes were red as were her lips.
She blinked a few times before she placed a hand on his cheeks.
It was a crazy feeling to experience such intimacy with her.
Jonghyun moved his head forward and planted a gentle kiss on Soo-yeon's forehead.
A simple kiss on the forehead slowly progressed into into a kiss on the lips.
Soo-yeon returned the kiss and before he knew it, Jonghyun lost control and his instincts took over.
DESTINY CHAPTER 58 [21st April 2011]
Taeyeon hurriedly slipped through the doors of the stairwell. She shut the door firmly and stood with her back pressed tightly against the cold concrete walls. The sharp cold was penetrating her drenched clothing, but she held her position. It was important that she avoided detection.
After two seconds, she heard wet footsteps patter by, positive that it belonged to her pursuer. These were footsteps she would never forget, they were burnt into her memory
Taeyeon stood with bated breath as her pursuer ran by. Her heart was pounding violently against her rib cage.
After she was certain that her pursuer had left, she slid to the ground, leaving a wet trail against the concrete wall.
She pulled her knees inwards and clutched them tightly against her chest. Her entire body was trembling.
Nothing could keep the cold out.
Thoughts of Soo-yeon once warmed her heart, but all it did now was send sharp icy blasts ofpain pulsing through her veins.
The moment she decided to walk out of Soo-yeon's life, was when her heart ceased all reason to continue beating.

[1 hour ago]
Taeyeon was waiting at the foot of Soo-yeon’s apartment block. She was planning on going for lunch with Soo-yeon one last time. They skies were grey and gloomy as she waited by her scooter.
Soo-yeon arrived minutes later. She flashed a wide smile when she saw Taeyeon.
Soo-yeon ran over and gave Taeyeon a tight hug. It tormented Taeyeon. She felt slightly revolted to be hugging Soo-yeon, but at the same time she knew that she wanted to be locked in an embrace with Soo-yeon for as long as she could.
Taeyeon gave in to her emotions. She hugged Soo-yeon tightly.
She knew this was going to be one of her last hugs.
“So where are we going for lunch today?” Soo-yeon asked chirpily.
Taeyeon avoided eye contact. She was afraid that if she looked Soo-yeon in the eye, she would break down. “It’s your choice, but let’s not go far.”
Taeyeon got onto her scooter and kicked-start the little black vehicle.
Soo-yeon helped herself to the helmet and slipped it on effortlessly. She then climbed onto the scooter.
Soo-yeon wrapped her arms around Taeyeon’s waist and she leaned her head on the Taeyeon’s back. “Haven’t seen you in a few days and I miss you so much already.”
The words Soo-yeon muttered sent a sharp pain through Taeyeon’s heart.
Taeyeon knew how unbearable it would be for Soo-yeon when she ended things, but it was for the best.
She knew that she would miss Soo-yeon’s smile, Soo-yeon’s touch, Soo-yeon’s gentle embrace. She knew that she would miss everything about Soo-yeon, but she knew what she had to do.
“So what case were you working on that you had to disappear for so many days?” Soo-yeon’s question brought Taeyeon back from her thoughts.
“Oh I can’t talk about it. The lesser you know the better.” Taeyeon replied. It was in fact what Taeyeon found out that kept her away from Soo-yeon.
It was only yesterday that she made her decision.
“So where are we going?” Taeyeon asked.
“Let’s go to my favorite cafe.” Soo-yeon replied.
Her favorite cafe...wouldn’t it be cruel if I ended things there...
“I think not, it’s too far and I’m tired. Let’s just go there,” Taeyeon pointed at an eatery two streets down.
“Ok Silly, then you shouldn’t have asked me to decide if you had already decided by yourself.”
I’m doing it for your own sake.
Taeyeon rode off and arrived at the eatery in less than a minute. “Ok, you get off and get a seat first. I’ll park alone.”
Soo-yeon did as she was told.
Taeyeon intentionally parked her scooter at an inconspicuous place so that Soo-yeon would not be able to track her down later.

Taeyeon stepped into the eatery, her stomach tightened into a knot. She wasn’t sure how she was going to execute the entire thing. It was tougher than any case she’s every dealt with.
Soo-yeon smiled at her and waved.
Taeyeon approached Soo-yeon and sat down beside her instead of sitting across from her.
Soo-yeon held Taeyeon’s hands tenderly. “What does my darling want to have for lunch?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Taeyeon said as she shrugged her shoulders carelessly. She had not been eating well the past couple of days and she evidently had no appetite today.
“Ok, you’ll eat whatever I order then,” Soo-yeon said as she motioned for the waiter to take their order.
Taeyeon looked at Soo-yeon as she ordered. The more she looked at her, the more she felt her heart go soft.
Taeyeon quickly looked away. She took a deep breath and repeated to herself silently.
You’ll do the right thing.You’ll do the right thing. You’ll do the right thing.
After the waiter had taken the order, Soo-yeon slipped her arm around Taeyeon’s waist and leaned on her shoulder. “Baby I really miss being in your arms.”
Taeyeon kissed Soo-yeon gently on the forehead and inhaled deeply. This was her last opportunity to do what she just did.
“Baby are you ok?” Soo-yeon questioned suddenly.
“Yes, why?” Taeyeon replied.
“You’re just behaving so weird today.” Soo-yeon said as she stared into Taeyeon’s eyes.
“Maybe I’m just tired,” Taeyeon brushed Soo-yeon’s statement off.
“You sure are tired. Look at those eyes, they’re so red. The case must have really taken its toll on you.” Soo-yeon said as she caressed Taeyeon’s cheeks.
“I guess so.” Taeyeon said lifelessly.
“Anyway did you manage to find out about your dad yet?” Soo-yeon asked innocently.
Taeyeon kept quiet. The very mention of her father made her blood boil. She hated him so much she never wanted to see him ever again.
“Baby are you ok? Did anything happen?” Soo-yeon asked as she pulled Taeyeon closer to her.
“Yes, I’m ok.” Taeyeon lied.
A sudden clap of thunder made Soo-yeon jump. Taeyeon instinctively held her arms around Soo-yeon.
“Omo that sure was scary,” Soo-yeon said, “Thank goodness I have you.”
Taeyeon released Soo-yeon and said, “You have to learn how to be independent, what if i’m not around?”
“Then you’ll always have to be around,” Soo-yeon said cheekily. Just then it started to pour.
Taeyeon quickly changed the topic. “Look at that rain. It’s such a heavy downpour. We can’t control the weather, just like how we can’t control certain things in life.”
“You’re acting weird today, what’s wrong?” Soo-yeon asked with an apprehensive look in her eyes.
“I wanted to wait until we had lunch, but I guess I’ll tell you now. My parents are getting splitting up.” Taeyeon said in a barely audible volume.
“What? How’s your mum?” Soo-yeon asked with great concern.
“She’s not coping very well.” Taeyeon said without looking at Soo-yeon all this time.
“I should visit her soon.” Soo-yeon offered.
“No. Don’t.” Taeyeon answered quickly.
Soo-yeon paused for a moment. Taeyeon’s words surprised her and confused her.
Taeyeon looked away, unable to continue.
“I have to go to the bathroom.” Taeyeon said quickly as she stood up and walked towards the bathroom, leaving Soo-yeon sitting alone at the table.
DESTINY CHAPTER 59 [21st April 2011]
Taeyeon locked herself in the toilet stall. She took a deep breath and attempted to calm herself as she fought back her tears. She knew that once her tears flowed, she would have no way to stop them.
“Taeyeon are you ok??” Taeyeon heard Soo-yeon’s voice coming from outside the toilet door.
The concern that Soo-yeon was showing her killed her. It was as if it wasn’t difficult enough.
“I’m ok, just go out. I’ll see you in a bit.” Taeyeon said in the most reassuring voice she could muster.
Taeyeon knew that there was no way she could face Soo-yeon. She was crumbling inside.
“I’m not going away until you come out.” Soo-yeon said persistently.
Taeyeon knew that she was cornered and that she had nowhere to run. She had to either get a hold of her emotions and do what she set out to do, or find an escape path.
Taeyeon was at a corner stall and her eyes happened to fall upon a small little ventilation window at the top of the wall.
She climbed onto the toilet bowl and pushed at the window. It was tight but Taeyeon was confident that she could squeeze out of the tiny window.
“Soo-yeon listen to me,” Taeyeon spoke with tears in her eyes.
“Why don’t you come out? I’ll listen to you.” Soo-yeon said anxiously as she pounded on the door.
“No. Just listen to me like this,” Taeyeon said as a tear trickled down her cheek, “I can’t be with you anymore.”
The pounding stopped.
“Wha— What are you talking about?” Soo-yeon said in a stammer.
“My mum knows about us and she disapproves. I have no choice don’t you get it? I’m all my mother has and I made my choice. I chose her over you.” Taeyeon said as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“You’ll do well without me. Don’t bother looking for me. You won’t find me. My mother and I have moved out.” Taeyeon continued.
“Kim Taeyeon open the door!” Soo-yeon said as she pounded loudly.
“Why are you doing this? I love you! Why can’t we see each other without telling your mother? How can you leave me just like this? What’s going on!” Soo-yeon started yelling hysterically.
It broke Taeyeon’s heart to hear the pain in Soo-yeon’s voice, but Taeyeon knew that this was what she had to do.
“Just erase me from your life. Just take it that I never existed.” Taeyeon said as she climbed out of the window.
Taeyeon could hear Soo-yeon calling her name as she dropped out onto the ground outside.
Taeyeon sat in the rain and sobbed painfully. The rain beat down on her as she held her face in her hands.

“Taeyeon ah! Taeyeon ah!” Soo-yeon shouted as her fist landed on the toilet door repeatedly.
Her cheeks were drenched with tears and Taeyeon wasn’t replying her.
Something wasn’t quite right. It was too quiet and all she heard was the patter of the rain.
Soo-yeon quickly went outside to get someone from the restaurant to open the door to the toilet stall. It took quite a while, but when the door was finally open, the stall was empty.
Soo-yeon saw the open window at the top and she quickly figured out what had happened.
She was determined to find Taeyeon. She was not ready to let her go.
Soo-yeon quickly ran out, but she got stopped by the person at the restaurant.
“You’ve got to pay for the food you ordered.” The person said.
Soo-yeon took out her wallet and shoved a stack of bills in the person’s hands before she ran out.
Soo-yeon started running out the door.
“Wait! Your change!” The person from the restaurant shouted, “And your helmet!”
Soo-yeon ignored the voice calling out to her. She ran to the back of the restaurant where the tiny window led.
When she arrived at the back alley, she saw an empty spot under the window.
Taeyeon was nowhere to be seen.
Soo-yeon started running towards the only other path there was.
As she ran, tears streamed down her cheeks and pain pulsed through her veins. The thought of losing Taeyeon was too much to bear.
It was then that she caught sight of a tiny figure in front of her. It was Taeyeon.
“Taeyeon ah!” Soo-yeon called out.
She saw Taeyeon turn her head slightly before Taeyeon disappeared around a corner.
Soo-yeon ran as fast as her legs could carry her, but when she turned the same corner Taeyeon did, Taeyeon was nowhere to be seen.
She looked everywhere she possibly could and she kept calling for Taeyeon on her mobile phone.
There was no answer.
It had been an hour since it all happened and Soo-yeon knew that Taeyeon would have been long gone by then.
She returned to the eatery and claimed the last thing that Taeyeon had left behind, a single helmet.
The cashier returned her her change along with the helmet.
Soo-yeon left the eatery and stood outside in the rain. She held the helmet tightly to her chest as she sobbed uncontrollably.
She knew that Taeyeon meant it when she said that she had moved. It was then that she thought of finding Taeyeon through all her friends.
Soo-yeon quickly took out her phone and called Sunny.
It didn’t take long before Sunny picked up.
“Sunny where is Taeyeon?” Soo-yeon asked immediately.
“I don’t know. She wouldn’t tell me where she has moved to because she was afraid I would tell you.” Sunny replied.
“You mean she has been planning for this all along? What’s going on?” Soo-yeon asked desperate to find out what was going on.
After a short pause, Sunny continued, “There isn’t much to say. I believe she has said all that she has to say. Maybe you can try Jonghyun.”
Soo-yeon hung up quickly and dialled Jonghyun’s number. She couldn’t care less how she was going to break it to Jonghyun since he didn’t know that she was dating Taeyeon all this while.
All Soo-yeon wanted now was to find Taeyeon.
It did not take long before Jonghyun too picked up her call.
Without even explaining anything, Soo-yeon jumped into the main question immediately.
“Huh? What Taeyeon has moved out? No I don’t know a thing.” Jonghyun replied.
“Can I hire you to find her?” Soo-yeon pleaded desperately.
“Umm...what happened?” Jonghyun questioned.
“Don’t ask, just help me to find her.” Soo-yeon continued.
“Ok. No more questions. I’ll do it for you.” Jonghyun said reassuringly.
“Thank you. Please let me know when you find her. It doesn’t matter what time, just give me a call.”

Jonghyun slumped back in his couch as he wore a puzzled frown.
He called Taeyeon immediately.
Taeyeon picked up after a while. “Yes Jong, why are you calling? Did Soo-yeon call you?”
“Err..Yes she did,” Jonghyun admitted, “What’s going on?”
Taeyeon told Jonghyun everything he possibly needed to know.
“Now that i’ve said it all, I beg you to take good care of Soo-yeon and make sure she’s ok,” said Taeyeon, “I trust you can do that.”
“Ok.” Jonghyun said before Taeyeon hung up.
He was still in shock from what he just heard from Taeyeon. From the part that the both of them were dating to the reason Taeyeon broke it off.
Everything just sounded so crazy to him.
DESTINY CHAPTER 60 [5th May 2011]
It has been two weeks since they day they broke up. Taeyeon was living with her mother in a rented room.
They had moved out of the house since Taeyeon found out the truth about her father.
Taeyeon’s mother was upset after she found out that her husband had cheated on her, but she was doing better now.
She had somehow known all along, but she could only really face it now.
Taeyeon was the one who truly suffered from the impact of the truth. It tore her heart in two.
Taeyeon was alone in the room when someone knocked.
“Who’s it?” Taeyeon asked.
“It’s Kang-In Oppa, can I open the door?” He asked.
“Sure,” Taeyeon called out to him.
He opened the door and stuck his head in with a smile, “Your mum is done cooking, you should come out and eat with us.”
“Thanks.” Taeyeon replied as she dragged her feet towards the door.
Kang-In lived alone since his parents passed away. He was the only child and he had been living alone all this time. He offered Taeyeon a place to stay when he found out the truth.
She was not intending to tell him, but he happened to chance upon Taeyeon arguing with her father.
“Thank you for cooking, I love it that I get to eat home cooked meals now.” Kang-In said sweetly to Taeyeon’s mother as he helped her to set the table.
“Don’t mention it, we should thank you for letting us stay here,” Taeyeon’s mother replied.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s not like Taeyeon is not paying me rent,” Kang-In replied.
Taeyeon helped to set up the dining table and the three of them sat down to eat together.
“How’s Soo-yeon doing? She hasn’t visited in a long time. How is she?” Taeyeon’s mother asked Taeyeon just as they started eating.
“Oh she’s quite busy lately with her new shoots and all that,” Kang-In said quickly, rescuing Taeyeon from her plight.
He then quickly changed the topic and led the conversation in another direction.
It was tough for Taeyeon to display a strong front in her mother’s presence, but her love for her mother helped a little.
She was also thankful that Kang-In was there. If not for him, she wouldn’t have been able to keep everything up.
Her mother did not know anything about Soo-yeon and the relationship she had with Taeyeon's father. Taeyeon knew that it would cause her mother a great deal of pain if she had known.
Her mother was really fond of Soo-yeon, and it would break her heart even more if she knew.
Everything Taeyeon said to Soo-yeon that day was a lie.
After dinner, Taeyeon left the house on the pretext that she needed to run some errands. The truth was that she needed some time to herself so that she wouldn’t have to hide the pain.
She was confident that Kang-In would make good company for her mother.

Taeyeon was riding on her scooter aimlessly. It did not take her long to realise that she had ended up near Soo-yeon's place. It was a subconscious action on her part that had occurred quite a number of times in the past two weeks.
Even though it pained her to think of Soo-yeon, she couldn’t stop herself from thinking.
Up till today, the scene from that day was still clearly etched into her brain.
*Flashback*
[17th April 2011]
Taeyeon was on the way to meet Soo-yeon for an early birthday dinner. She was riding towards Soo-yeon’s apartment when she noticed two men having a heated argument in the distance.
She couldn’t hear what they were saying, but she could tell from their actions that they weren’t having a pleasant conversation. She wouldn’t have noticed if the men weren’t standing at the foot of Soo-yeon’s block.
She couldn’t see any faces but the two men seemed quite mature from the way they were dressed.
As Taeyeon rode closer, she could hear the conversation more clearly.
“Stay away from my daughter! She has ended things with you and she wants nothing to do with you so get lost!”
“I just wanted to give her a birthday gift that’s all.”
“You have a family so get lost and go back to your family! Stop hurting my daughter! She has moved on! I wasn’t a good father and I gave you the opportunity to hurt my daughter, but that will not happen anymore! You better leave before I punch you!”
As Taeyeon pulled into the front of the block, the man with his back towards her turned for a split second.
It was then that Taeyeon caught a glimpse of his face. Taeyeon froze when she saw the man’s face. It was none other than her father.
It was clear from the conversation she overheard that he was never innocent like he so claimed every time his mother brought up the affair.
He turned back to the other man and continued where they left off. He didn’t recognise his daughter.
Taeyeon was overwhelmed by the suddenness of the matter so she killed the engine and made her way to the lift quickly, leaving her scooter by the side of the building.
Once she was in the lift, she quickly pushed on the lift button. She removed her full face helmet once the doors shut.
She wasn’t expecting to find out in such a manner. She tried to push the thought out of her head. It was after all supposed to be a happy day. She was supposed to have an early birthday dinner with Soo-yeon and her family.
This was also going to be her first meeting with Soo-yeon’s dad and she wanted to make a good impression. He was rarely home because of work and Taeyeon had never seen him before, not even in pictures. Soo-yeon said that her father never liked taking pictures so there were none.
The lift doors opened. Taeyeon stepped out and took a deep breath. She shut her eyes and then drew a mental image of a huge box. She then mentally shut away everything she had just witnessed into the imaginary box.
She thought of Soo-yeon’s lovely smile and her gentle kiss. It made her feel better. Even if everything in the world came crashing down on her, she knew that there was one person she could rely on — Soo-yeon.
Taeyeon pushed on Soo-yeon’s doorbell. It didn’t take long before someone pulled open the door. It was the one person she knew she could trust wholeheartedly.
Soo-yeon gave her a big hug upon her entrance, “I miss you.”
“Don’t do this, what if your dad sees us,” Taeyeon said in a whisper.
“He’s not here now,” Soo-yeon replied.
“Oh? Where is he?” Taeyeon asked.
It was then that Soo-Jung replied nonchalantly on Soo-yeon’s behalf. “He’s downstairs chasing Unnie’s ex away.”
It didn’t take long for Taeyeon to figure everything out.
It was then that her whole world came crumbling down.
*End of Flashback*
The memory of that fateful day never failed to bring tears to Taeyeon’s eyes.
She started wiping her tears as they trickled continuously down her cheeks. It was like a faulty tap that could not be turned off.
Destiny was such, it gave her no choice.
Taeyeon could either break it off with an excuse, or tell the truth and cause more pain.
It was out of love that she chose to keep the truth away from Soo-yeon.
Taeyeon knew deep inside thatthiswas their destiny and there was nothing she could do to change it.
