chap 11 - 15
DESTINY CHAPTER 11 [26th March 2010]
Soo-yeon woke up before Taeyeon and she realised that she had been holding on to Taeyeon the entire night.
She recalled what happened the night before.
*Flashback*
"Soo-yeon ah, Soo-yeon ah," she heard someone call her name repeatedly.
For a moment Soo-yeon thought that she was dreaming, but the voice kept going on and on.
Soo-yeon opened her eyes to darkness.
"Soo-yeon, please..." Taeyeon continued.
"Please what?" Soo-yeon responded.
"Please don't leave, I'm sorry..." said Taeyeon.
Soo-yeon was truly puzzled, "I'm not going anywhere," Soo-yeon said sleepily.
"Soo-yeon ah, you are very important to me, please..." murmured Taeyeon.
Soo-yeon was getting more and more bewildered by Taeyeon's words.
She switched on the sidelight so that she could see what was going on.
"Soo-yeon, I'm really sorry," said Taeyeon with her eyes closed.
Soo-yeon finally realised what was going on.
Taeyeon was sleep talking.
As much as Soo-yeon was curious to know what Taeyeon was talking about, she could see that Taeyeon was having quite an unpleasant dream so she decided to wake Taeyeon up.
*End of Flashback*
Soo-yeon looked at Taeyeon and saw that she was sleeping like a baby.
She took her arms off Taeyeon very slowly and quietly for fear of waking Taeyeon.
She looked at the alarm clock and saw that they had three hours before they had to leave for the photoshoot. Soo-yeon decided that she would wake Taeyeon up only after she washed up.
She was quite sure that Taeyeon hadn't had much sleep because of the dream.
After Soo-yeon washed up, she returned to the room to see that Taeyeon was still fast asleep.
She sat by Taeyeon and touched her shoulder gently, "Taeyeon, it's time to wake up."
It took Soo-yeon a few more tries before Taeyeon finally opened her eyes.
"Good Morning," Taeyeon stretched as she smiled at Soo-yeon.
"Good Morning," Soo-yeon said sweetly.
It was an adorable sight.
"Did you sleep well?" Soo-yeon asked.
Taeyeon sat up and nodded at the same time, "Yes I kind of did, did you?"
Soo-yeon nodded too.
"I'm sorry about last night," said Taeyeon apologetically.
"It's ok, you already said sorry to me too many times last night," Soo-yeon teased.
Taeyeon hugged a pillow and gave Soo-yeon a sheepish grin, "I told you that you'd regret sleeping with me."
Soo-yeon shook her head, "No I do not, you would probably be the one to regret since it's likely for you to let slip all your secrets to me in your sleep."
Taeyeon got worried. She started to wonder how much she said and how much Soo-yeon had heard.
There really wasn't a way to find out except through Soo-yeon.
"So...did I say much last night?" Taeyeon asked apprehensively.
Taeyeon looked at Soo-yeon straight in the eye, anticipating a reply.
Taeyeon waited with bated breath.
"Well..." said Soo-yeon very slowly.
Taeyeon nodded and urged Soo-yeon to go on.
"I'm not telling you!" Soo-yeon said with a cheeky grin, "You better wash up and prepare for the day or else we'll be late!"
"Oh come on..." Taeyeon begged.
Soo-yeon stood up and skipped off to blow dry her hair.
Taeyeon went ahead to prepare herself for the day. Whilst she was doing that, her mind was pre-occupied with what had happened the night before.
She started analyzing the situation in her head. It was something she was extremely good at.
She first started by recalling Soo-yeon's behaviour since she woke up.
Taeyeon shut her eyes as she brushed her teeth.
She recalled Soo-yeon's sweet smile as she wished her good morning.
The next image that flashed into her mind was the concerned look on Soo-yeon's face when she asked if Taeyeon slept well.
The last and final image was that of Soo-yeon's expression when she asked if she actually said anything to Soo-yeon the night before.
Taeyeon knew that Soo-yeon was retrieving a memory from the night before based on her eye movement.
As quick as Soo-yeon was about that, Taeyeon managed to catch onto that small detail.
Taeyeon thought hard and she thought she remembered seeing a slight upward twitch of Soo-yeon's lips before Soo-yeon gave her cheeky reply about not telling.
Taeyeon heaved a sigh of relief.
She was quite sure that she did not reveal anything. Even if she did, Soo-yeon's reaction towards her this morning proved that she was quite safe.
After she was done washing up and preparing for the day, Taeyeon stepped out of the bathroom confidently.
"Come on, I'm ready, let's go for breakfast," said Taeyeon to Soo-yeon.
The both of them headed down to the breakfast area and started on their breakfast.
During breakfast, Soo-yeon decided to ask Taeyeon about her sleep talking, "So how long have you been sleep talking?"
"For quite a long time? I really can't recall," said Taeyeon as she poked at a piece of sausage.
"So you don't usually remember anything you say when you sleep talk?" Soo-yeon continued.
"It depends," said Taeyeon as she chewed on her food, "it's rare that I do though."
"I see," said Soo-yeon. She hasn't started eating yet. All that she had done was cut up her food.
"Is it true then? Is whatever you speak of when you sleep talk real?" asked Soo-yeon with great curiosity. She had one particular sentence in mind when she asked that question.
Taeyeon grew cautious in that moment.
She smiled and looked up from her food, "It depends."
"It depends? On what?" Soo-yeon questioned.
"Well," Taeyeon said as she continued to eat, "It depends on what the dream is about, what is the context of the dream, and whether or not I'm lying in my dream."
"You mean you can lie in your dream?" Soo-yeon asked surprised.
"Why not, anything can happen in a dream, that is why it's a dream," Taeyeon concluded.
Soo-yeon poked at her food.
"So, why are you so curious, did I say something weird last night?" Taeyeon asked as she looked at Soo-yeon. She wasn't willing to miss out on any clues.
"Oh,” Soo-yeon paused slightly before continuing, “no you didn't."All that time, Soo-yeon avoided eye-contact.
In that instant, Taeyeon gathered that there was definitely something Soo-yeon wasn't telling her. Her body language was saying it all.
Taeyeon was curious but she knew for sure that she had not revealed her feelings to Soo-yeon.
Taeyeon watched Soo-yeon as she ate.
She’s so adorable, if only I could have her...
Taeyeon chided herself for having such a thought and quickly got back to breakfast.
DESTINY CHAPTER 12 [26th March 2010]
Soo-yeon and Taeyeon along with the entire crew were on the ferry towards Waiheke Island.
Taeyeon escaped to the top deck alone.
Sheneeded some time to herself.
Taeyeon had been spending almost all of her time alongside Soo-yeon ever since she got on the plane in Korea.
The thought of having to spend the next few days with Soo-yeon constantly by her side made things even worse.
It was not the best option for someone in her situation.
It was not that Taeyeon did not enjoy Soo-yeon’s company, her main concern was that she enjoyed it too much.
Her feelings for Soo-yeon were growing at an incredible pace and it was driving her slightly mad.
Her dream the night before was a reminder that she may lose Soo-yeon as a friend if she made even the slightest mistake.
Taeyeon was thankful that she had honed her skills at masking her emotions.
She was glad that she was not an open book.
She could not afford to be.
Taeyeon shut her eyes and quietened her mind.
She could feel the sun’s warm rays gently beating down on her skin, keeping her warm despite the cold breeze.
She could hear the sound of the waves amidst the voices of the other passengers on the deck.
With her eyes still shut, Taeyeon took a deep breath.
She could smell the salt from the ocean and a sweet scent in the wind.
A sweet scent that had been lingering for days, the scent that brought a smile to her face - Soo-yeon’s scent.
Taeyeon quickly realised that it meant that Soo-yeon was on the deck.
She opened her eyes immediately and quickly made her way for the stairs towards the other end of the deck.
If her ankle were any better, Taeyeon would most definitely be able to make a successful escape, but her ankle weighed her down.
“Taeyeon ah,” she heard Soo-yeon call out.
Crap...I’m too slow...
Taeyeon stopped in her tracks and turned towards the direction of the voice.
Soo-yeon flashed a really sweet smile as she walked towards Taeyeon.
The smile made Taeyeon’s heart flutter once again.
Taeyeon returned a smile and quickly turned her back and made her way towards the railing.
Once she had her back to Soo-yeon, she took yet another deep breath to compose herself.
She pulled a straight face just before Soo-yeon arrived at her side.
“So here you are, I was wondering where you were,” said Soo-yeon as she placed her hands on the railing.
In that moment, their fingers brushed lightly against each other.
It awakened every single sensory receptor on Taeyeon’s finger and sent an electrifying pulse throughout her body.
Taeyeon loosened her grip on the railing and slowly dropped her arms to her sides.
“Yes I wanted to come up and enjoy the weather and the view,” said Taeyeon in what sounded like a calm voice.
She was in fact feeling the exact opposite.
"You for one should really be sitting and not standing," said Soo-yeon as she held Taeyeon's arm and dragged her towards a row of seats.
"Don't worry about me, I'm ok," Taeyeon replied.
Soo-yeon shook her head, "No you're not, if you can't take care of yourself, I'll just have to take care of you."
"You have been taking care of me ever since we first met," said Taeyeon as she thought of their first meeting, "I can't thank you enough."
"Well," Soo-yeon replied with a grin, "can't help it that I'm a caring person."
It was probably because Soo-yeon lost her mother at such a young age that she had to take on the role of caring for her family.
Taeyeon felt the pain in that moment. She knew how it was like to have to take on the role of one parent.
"I'll take care of you too," Taeyeon said sincerely.
It was probably not the best thing to say, but the words just slipped out of Taeyeon's mouth.
***
Soo-yeon was standing in between a row of grape vines and posing with a bow and arrow.
"You know what would be beautiful?" Taeyeon said in the middle of the shoot.
Soo-yeon shook her head.
"You reckon you could shoot the arrow?" Taeyeon requested.
Soo-yeon returned her a doubtful look.
"You should just try, but please don't aim it at me," said Taeyeon with a laugh.
"I think it would be safer if I aim it at you since I'd probably miss," Soo-yeon joked.
"Oh well, I guess I would rather die in your hands than any other," Taeyeon said as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Ok let's quit fooling around and get back to the shot," Taeyeon instructed.
Soo-yeon faced the target board and took aim.
Taeyeon had the camera set to the right settings and angled the shot nicely.
"Ok, on the count of three you release the arrow," said Taeyeon as she focused the shot.
"One, two, three."
Soo-yeon released the arrow and everyone around burst out laughing, Soo-yeon inclusive.
Taeyeon captured the entire process. She was already expecting something like this to happen and she thought that it would make a good picture.
Taeyeon loved it when Soo-yeon was being herself. That was when she was most beautiful.
"Ok, now for the real shot that was just a warm-up," Taeyeon said teasing Soo-yeon.
Soo-yeon laughed and continued, "I can't shoot this thing, nobody can."
"Let me show you how," said Taeyeon confidently.
Soo-yeon raised her eyebrows, "You can?"
Taeyeon passed the camera to someone else and took the bow and arrow from Soo-yeon.
"This," said Taeyeon as she held the bow and loaded the arrow before pulling back the string, "is how you do it."
Taeyeon took aim and released the arrow.
The arrow hit the target board right in the center.
"Wow," Soo-yeon said in awe, "you sure have got talent."
"Here, have a try," Taeyeon said as she handed Soo-yeon the bow and arrow, "I'm sure you can do it too."
"Hit bullseye? I don't think so," said Soo-yeon playfully.
Soo-yeon tried once again and failed.
"I think you better teach me step by step," said Soo-yeon, "come on over."
Taeyeon took the bow and arrow and demonstrated once more, this time without releasing the arrow.
Soo-yeon tried the same thing step by step and looked over at Taeyeon for advise.
"Do I pull back like this?" Soo-yeon asked Taeyeon earnestly.
Taeyeon shook her head, "You're going to hurt yourself if you do it like that."
Taeyeon held Soo-yeon's left arm and straightened it.
Taeyeon stood behind Soo-yeon and supported her left arm with her own. She gently clasped Soo-yeon's right hand and taught Soo-yeon how to pull back.
"Now," Taeyeon said with great focus, "you aim and you let go quickly."
The arrow flew straight for the board and hit it with a twang.
"See, I told you you can do it," said Taeyeon, her left hand still supporting Soo-yeon's.
Soo-yeon turned to face her, "Not without you."
Soo-yeon's face was so close to hers that Taeyeon's heart almost exploded.
"Alright, let's return to the shoot," said Taeyeon as she quickly moved away.
She could feel her ears turning red. She undid her pony tail and covered her ears with her hair, "It's cold, let's get this shoot over and done with."
DESTINY CHAPTER 13 [26th March 2010]
It was about five fifteen and they were just done with the shoot on Waiheke island.
They went from beautiful lodges to olive gardens to vineyards and breweries.
The owner of the vineyard was a very hospitable man.
So much so that he treated the entire team of them to a round of wine tasting just before they left.
It was fortunate that the vineyard was the last photo shoot location for the day or else they would not have been able to indulge.
Taeyeon politely declined the offer.
She was not ready to risk shooting her mouth off or acting on her innermost feelings in a drunken stupor.
Soo-yeon on the other hand took a swig of every glass of wine she was offered.
She was enjoying it too much that she got tipsy before she knew it.
The crew ended up boarding the ferry back to Auckland with bags of olive oil, beer and wine. It was a fruitful day.
By the time Soo-yeon was on the ferry, she could not walk straight.
Taeyeon intentionally sat away from Soo-yeon and mingled with some other crew member instead. She was trying quite hard to maintain some distance.
Ten minutes into the ferry ride, Taeyeon saw that Soo-yeon went up to the deck alone. It worried her since Soo-yeon was slightly tipsy.
Taeyeon excused herself and followed Soo-yeon onto the deck.
When Taeyeon got onto the deck, she saw that Soo-yeon was sitting alone in the front.
She approached Soo-yeon and stood beside her, “Don’t mind if I join you do you?”
“If it were anyone else I would,” replied Soo-yeon with a tipsy smile.
“Good for me then,” said Taeyeon as she sat down beside Soo-yeon.
Soo-yeon’s face was really red from all that wine.
“So what are you doing out here alone,” asked Taeyeon tenderly, “are you ok?”
“Mmm hmm,” Soo-yeon nodded, “I just wanted to be away from everyone else, it was getting slightly too noisy.”
Taeyeon could hear that Soo-yeon was having slight difficulty breathing due to the alcohol.
“You really should watch how much you drink, who’s going to take care of you if you get drunk.”
Soo-yeon smiled and turned to face Taeyeon, “I don't have to because I know you’re here to care for me.”
“You just wanted to drink didn’t you and I happen to be a convenient excuse,” Taeyeon said cheekily.
“Why you’re here aren’t you, sitting beside me because you are worried,” said Soo-yeon triumphantly, “It’s because you care.”
“Haaaa..” Taeyeon replied, “I was just worried that the model for the photo shoot falls overboard and I don’t get paid for the shoot.”
Soo-yeon poked Taeyeon lightly, “You sure are cheeky aren’t you.”
“Not as cheeky as you are,” Taeyeon said with a mischievous grin.
Soo-yeon stuck her tongue out at Taeyeon.
It was something Soo-yeon did when she could not make a comeback.
Taeyeon had always found that cute.
Taeyeon’s mind wandered off as thoughts of Soo-yeon slowly filled her mind.
It was one of those things that the mind did by itself and before you know it, one thought leads to another.
Taeyeon got interrupted by a slight tug on her hands, "May I lean on your shoulders? My head is feeling slightly heavy."
"Sure," replied Taeyeon.
"Your hands are freezing, do you want to head down?" asked Taeyeon concerned.
“I’m feeling cold but I don’t feel like going back down,” Soo-yeon said as she took heavy breaths.
Taeyeon took off her jacket and placed it gently over Soo-yeon.
“What if you catch a cold,” Soo-yeon asked outrightly.
“I won’t because I’m strong,” said Taeyeon hiding the fact that she was feeling cold.
Soo-yeon leaned in and gave Taeyeon a hug, “Here, we can keep warm together.”
Soo-yeon took Taeyeon’s jacket and pulled it over the both of them.
Soo-yeon’s sudden action startled Taeyeon.
She did not know how to react so she sat there with Soo-yeon’s arms wrapped around her waist.
After a while, Taeyeon decided to place her arms around Soo-yeon.
When she did that, Soo-yeon snuggled up comfortably to her.
Taeyeon’s mind started to wander.
She wanted to be able to hold Soo-yeon like this for the rest of her life.
She started imagining how life would be like for her if she could actually spend the rest of it with Soo-yeon.
It did not matter if she spent it with Soo-yeon as a lover or as a close friend. Either way, she would be happy.
Despite that, the thought of Soo-yeon getting married to someone else and relying on someone else made Taeyeon feel depressed once again.
For the first time in her life, Taeyeon felt great confusion.
She wasn’t sure what to do anymore.
As much as Taeyeon did not want to think, she could not prevent the thoughts from surfacing in her mind.
She really wanted Soo-yeon and that was an undeniable fact.
Taeyeon realised that she has never asked Soo-yeon about her love life before.
She decided to since there was a slight chance that she could get lucky and Soo-yeon might actually be interested in girls.
"Don't you miss Soo-jung and your dad when you travel for work?" Taeyeon casually started the conversation going.
"I do," Soo-yeon replied "I'm worried about Soo-jung too since dad is often not home because of work."
"Well don't worry Soo-jung seems like an independent girl, she'll do fine," Taeyeon reassured Soo-yeon.
"I guess it's tough to maintain a romantic relationship if one is required to travel often for work ain't it?" Taeyeon continued.
"I guess," Soo-yeon sighed, "but mum's not around anymore so I guess my dad doesn't have to worry about that."
"So how do you think it will be like for you if you were in a relationship?" Taeyeon probed.
"Well I'm not in one anymore so it doesn't matter."
Taeyeon continued to mine for information, "so you were in one previously?"
"Yes," answered Soo-yeon.
Taeyeon could tell that Soo-yeon was not very keen on talking about the matter so she decided to just ask one last question, "so are you still in contact with him?"
"Not anymore," said Soo-yeon as she snuggled closer to Taeyeon.
Taeyeon stopped asking after that since she had already gotten her answer.
It was evident that Soo-yeon was into guys.
Soo-yeon fell asleep snugly in Taeyeon’s arms whilst Taeyeon tried her best to keep herself from falling any deeper.
The both of them sat this way until the ferry docked in Auckland.
DESTINY CHAPTER 14 [26th March 2010]
When they arrived in Auckland, everyone went for dinner but Soo-yeon declined to join as she was not in the best condition.
Taeyeon volunteered to accompany Soo-yeon back to the hotel and so the two of them left the group.
“Shall we take a cab back to the hotel?” Taeyeon asked Soo-yeon even though the hotel was just a short distance away from where they were.
“Yes we should,” replied Soo-yeon as she leaned against the railing by the harbour.
“Are you ok? We can rest here for a bit if you want,” Taeyeon suggested.
Soo-yeon moved towards Taeyeon, leaned her head on Taeyeon’s shoulders and wrapped her arms around Taeyeon’s waist.
“I really regret drinking that much,” whined Soo-yeon. She was behaving like a baby seeking affection.
Taeyeon struggled to maintain her composure with much difficulty.
“Well there’s always a first time. Let’s go to the cafe there by the side, you can have some hot tea to sober up,” said Taeyeon wisely.
She could pull a straight face and keep her voice stable, but her ears were a telltale sign. They always turned red when she was experiencing a high flux of emotions.
By then, Taeyeon’s ears were as red as Soo-yeon’s face. If there was one thing that could give her away, it was her ears.
Taeyeon knew that and she always made use of her hair to hide her ears if she knew that she would be in a situation where her ears could give her away.
It was fortunate that Soo-yeon was probably too drunk to notice anything.
Taeyeon held Soo-yeon by the arm and led her to the cafe.
She sat Soo-yeon at a table near the counter before she headed over to make her order.
Taeyeon did not know what to order for Soo-yeon so she ended up ordering her favorite Earl Grey tea.
She returned to Soo-yeon’s side in less than two minutes.
Taeyeon could tell that Soo-yeon was feeling quite terrible at that moment.
“Here, have the tea,” said Taeyeon as she pushed the cup of tea towards Soo-yeon, “Be careful, it’s hot.”
“Do you want any sugar?” Taeyeon offered before Soo-yeon picked up the tea cup.
Soo-yeon shook her head, “It’s ok I don’t like sugar with my tea.”
Taeyeon took a sip of her tea without taking her eyes off Soo-yeon.
Her concern for Soo-yeon was evident.
“Anyway I didn’t know what you like so I got you my favorite tea, it’s ok is it?” asked Taeyeon, “otherwise I can always get you another.”
Soo-yeon nodded, “Yes I like earl grey too.”
“I see that I have found my soul mate,” Taeyeon said in a joking manner, ” Sunny hates earl grey and she refuses to read my favorite book. You should be my best friend instead.”
As much as Taeyeon meant the part about Soo-yeon being her soul mate, there was no way she would say it to Soo-yeon in a serious manner.
Taeyeon was never good at expressing her feelings. She seldom expressed herself directly.
She always joked or fooled around so people never knew when she was being serious and when she was honestly just fooling around.
“I feel the same way about you being my soul mate,” said Soo-yeon forthrightly, “I always feel very comfortable around you, I can’t explain it, but I do.”
Taeyeon got tongue tied for a split second. It was not the kind of answer she expected from Soo-yeon.
“Well..” said Taeyeon after a while, “I guess I make most people feel that way?”
“Anyway do you feel better now?” Taeyeon asked with every intention of changing the topic. She felt that it was getting slightly too awkward.
“Yes, i’m slightly better but I just feel like going to bed now,” said Soo-yeon with a pout.
“That’ll teach you a lesson,” said Taeyeon cheekily, “you’ll know never to drink so much ever again.”
Soo-yeon stuck out her tongue at Taeyeon once again.
Taeyeon laughed.
“Come on little kid, let’s go back so that you can sleep,” said Taeyeon as she tugged at Soo-yeon’s arm.
***
The both of them entered the room and Soo-yeon made for the bed immediately.
“You’ll never ever drink again right?” Taeyeon teased.
“Yeahh..my head is so heavy!” said Soo-yeon as she just dived into bed and under the covers.
Within seconds, Taeyeon could tell that Soo-yeon was knocked out cold.
She watched Soo-yeon as she slept. It was as if there was an invisible force was holding Taeyeon there. She just could not take her eyes off of Soo-yeon.
The more she watched Soo-yeon, the more it felt like she was being sucked into a vortex.
Taeyeon quickly realised that she was making a big mistake. She shut her eyes, turned away and ran off into the shower.
While Taeyeon was showering, she was quite worried that she would make the same mistake of talking in her sleep again.
She knew that the more she worried and the more she kept it to herself, the more likely it was for her to talk about it in her sleep.
It was time to do something about it.
After Taeyeon came out of the shower, she saw that Soo-yeon was still very sound asleep.
She tucked Soo-yeon nicely in bed before she took her phone and quietly sneaked out to the balcony.
It was a good thing that there was free wi-fi in the hotel. Taeyeon went online with her phone and sent a message to Sunny.
She had asked Sunny if she was free to do a video call with her.
Taeyeon waited patiently on the balcony for Sunny's reply. It did not seem like too long a wait since the view of the ocean was entirely captivating.
Taeyeon's phone finally rang. It was a video call from Sunny.
Taeyeon hurriedly answered the call for fear that Soo-yeon would wake up upon hearing the phone. It took a while before Sunny appeared on Taeyeon's screen.
"What's up? How's New Zealand you lucky thing," asked Sunny as she looked intently in the screen, "why is it so dark, where are you?"
"Oh i'm on the balcony," said Taeyeon, "Soo-yeon's asleep so I didn't want to wake her."
"Really? I bet you have to talk about her that's why you're on the balcony," said Sunny with a confident smile. She knew her friend well enough to know that Taeyeon was desperate thus the call.
Taeyeon responded with a look that totally said 'Ha very funny...'
"Oh so did you just want me to call and ask me how I am? If that's the case I'm good so don't worry, I'll hang up now, Bye!!" Sunny said in mischief.
"Ok ok! I have to talk about her..." Taeyeon admitted unwillingly, "quit joking your friend here is dying."
Sunny laughed and Taeyeon returned her a look of exasperation which led to Sunny laughing even more.
"Oh man you sure are enjoying yourself aren't you," Taeyeon sighed.
"Of course I am, it's rare to see our dear Taeyeon so desperate for help," teased Sunny once again. She was enjoying herself thoroughly.
"So let's see, someone is in love with Soo-yeon and she needs to talk to me about it," said Sunny with a pompous grin, "tell me I was right from the start."
"Yes oh great one! For once you got something right," said Taeyeon sarcastically.
"Do I sense sarcasm? Hmmm...perhaps we can catch up when you're back like a long time later," said Sunny as she faked a thoughtful expression, "perhaps you canthen tell me how you lost control and screwed everything up."
"Ok I lose," said Taeyeon defeated.
Sunny burst out laughing once more, "You sure are captivated by her, I've NEVER since you like this before," said Sunny in between laughs.
"Yes I am, and i'm falling more each day..." Taeyeon confessed.
"Ok, enough jokes for now, i'll be serious," said Sunny finally.
"Yes please, your best friend is dying here," pleaded Taeyeon.
"So what is it that is making you so crazy? It's either you do something about it or you don't," said Sunny quite wisely.
Taeyeon gave a dejected frown, "Of course I know the options and the obvious choice is not to act on it but she is driving me nuts," Taeyeon explained.
Sunny chuckled slightly, "She's that good huh, making our dear Taeyeon lose control like this."
"Of course she is, you gotta see how beautiful..." before Taeyeon could complete her sentence she heard the balcony door slide open behind her.
She turned and Soo-yeon was standing there.
DESTINY CHAPTER 15 [26th March 2010]
"Of course she is, you gotta see how beautiful..." before Taeyeon could complete her sentence she heard the balcony door slide open behind her.
Taeyeon saw Soo-yeon standing behind her and she quickly improvised, "...New Zealand is."
Sunny gave a puzzled frown and before she could ask what in the world Taeyeon was talking about, Soo-yeon spoke.
"What are you doing out here in the cold?" Soo-yeon asked with a yawn.
"Hi Soo-yeon!" Sunny exclaimed and waved as she spoke.
Soo-yeon was slightly surprised to hear another voice calling out to her. It took her a few seconds to realise that Taeyeon was doing a video call with Sunny.
"Oh hi," said Soo-yeon with a polite smile.
"How has Taeyeon been since the both of you arrived? She's not been waking you with her loud voice in the middle of the night has she?" Sunny asked playfully.
"Well I sure did wake up when I heard her calling my name repeatedly last night," Soo-yeon said as she gave a haughty grin.
"Now now now girls stop ganging up against me, it's late and Soo-yeon should go and shower before she sleeps," Taeyeon nudged Soo-yeon gently and tried to chase her back into the room.
Both Sunny and Soo-yeon mused at Taeyeon's helplessness.
"Remember to fill me in when you return," Sunny shouted to Soo-yeon.
"I will!" Soo-yeon replied before Taeyeon shut the balcony door on her.
Taeyeon heaved a sigh of relief, "That was close..."
Taeyeon turned her head to check on Soo-yeon. She did not want Soo-yeon sneaking up on her and hearing the conversation by accident.
Her eyes met Soo-yeon's and the both of them smiled at each other before Soo-yeon walked towards the bathroom.
"You sure are jumpy, this is so unlike you," said Sunny laughing.
"You realise it will be disastrous if she finds out about my feelings for her don't you?" said Taeyeon in a whisper.
Sunny burst out laughing once more at Taeyeon's sneaky behavior.
Taeyeon was a cautious person by nature and she always makes sure to act only when she is extremely confident.
She never allows room for failure.
Most importantly, if she was not sure that she could ever get Soo-yeon as a lover, she would rather be able to keep Soo-yeon as a close friend forever than not have Soo-yeon at all.
"Anyway just to be safe, I'll talk to you at the lobby," said Taeyeon as she ended the call with Sunny.
Taeyeon tore off a piece of paper from the notepad and wrote a note for Soo-yeon.
She placed the note on the bed and grabbed her headphones before she headed down to the lobby.
***
Soo-yeon stepped out of the shower and made her way towards the couch by the TV.
She casually glanced towards the balcony and saw that Taeyeon was no longer there.
The room was very quiet.
Perhaps she has fallen asleepthought Soo-yeon to herself.
Soo-yeon walked towards the bed area and realised that the bed was empty except for a piece of paper sitting on the side of the bed.
She went over and picked up the note. It seemed like it was written in a hasty scribble.
The note read, 'Decided to speak to Sunny elsewhere, didn't want to disturb you. Don't wait up, I'll take a while.'

Taeyeon was at a secluded area of the ground level of the hotel. She did not want to risk being overheard by anyone she knew.
She spoke to Sunny for at least two hours before they hung up. The entire conversation was about Soo-yeon.
Sunny questioned Taeyeon about Soo-yeon's actions towards her. It ended up being a debate of the likelihood of Soo-yeon accepting Taeyeon. Taeyeon of course negated every single thing that Sunny said, and insisted that there was no possibility.
Taeyeon was quite a skeptic when it came to matters as such, and she had to be able to support every claim with enough concrete evidence before she would accept it as the truth.
Taeyeon always covered all her bases and never acted until then. This time, it was exactly the same.
Even though Taeyeon did not get much of a conclusion from the phone call, it was evident that she at least got what she wanted - an outlet.
She was feeling much more relieved despite her exhaustion.
Taeyeon slowly made her way towards the lift lobby and back to the room.
When she arrived at her room door, she paid extra attention when she opened the door. She did not want to wake Soo-yeon from her sleep.
She stepped into the room and heard the TV playing.
She made her way towards the living area and found Soo-yeon sleeping soundly on the couch.
Taeyeon approached Soo-yeon and she squat down beside her.
Taeyeon tapped Soo-yeon's arm and the only response she got was a sleepy groan.
"Wake up and return to bed," said Taeyeon gently as she tapped on Soo-yeon's shoulders, "stop hogging the couch."
Soo-yeon finally stirred.
"You're finally back," said Soo-yeon as she rubbed her eyes.
“Yes, come on it’s time for bed. We still have to head to Rotorua tomorrow,” said Taeyeon as she stood up.
Soo-yeon looked at Taeyeon with outstretched arms, “Help me up,” said Soo-yeon with a puppy face.
“Lazy girl,” Taeyeon commented as she helped Soo-yeon up.
Soo-yeon did what she did best, she stuck out her tongue.
Soo-yeon was extremely adorable when she did stuff like that. Taeyeon was falling more and more each day. There was no way she could stop herself from falling, she could only stop herself from acting on her feelings.
They both of them made their way to bed and crawled under the covers.
Soo-yeon took the right side of the bed and Taeyeon took the left.
Taeyeon reached for the main light switch by the bed and switched off all the lights.
“Good Night,” she said to Soo-yeon.
“Good Night...” Soo-yeon replied.
Taeyeon turned her back towards Soo-yeon and shut her eyes.
Even though her eyes were shut, Taeyeon was still very aware of her surroundings.
She could hear Soo-yeon’s slow breathing and she could smell Soo-yeon’s sweet scent.
Everything about Soo-yeon made her melt and sucked her in.
Taeyeon thought of her conversation with Sunny. One particular sentence Sunny said bugged her.
”You never try, you’ll never know.”
Taeyeon turned on her back and stared up at the ceiling.
In that moment, she felt Soo-yeon cuddle up to her.
Whether or not it was a conscious or subconscious move on Soo-yeon’s part, Taeyeon did not know.
Regardless, it ignited something in Taeyeon. The impulse to attempt something she would not usually do flared in her.
She wanted Soo-yeon badly, and the more time she spent with her, the greater the want.
Taeyeon was honestly confused, but in that split second, she decided to hug Soo-yeon to sleep.
She turned, slid her arm around Soo-yeon’s waist and then shut her eyes.
Taeyeon decided that she would take things day by day, and today was her day to indulge a little.
