Dewkit open his eyes,rose on his paws.Today was Brackenkit's Apprentice Ceremony.Brackenkit is older than him and his sister.Softkit then stood up and padded towards gray tom.
"Hey!"Her voice was gentle.Brackenkit was still alsleep,in his mossy nest . can't blame him,once your apprentice,You gonna wake up early and get less sleep.
The two kits played,they made stomping noises and crunching leaves and a oof."Can you guys be quite?No cat will be able sleep!"Brackenkit hissed in a grumpy tone.
"Let's go out! "Softkit mewed with amusement"Clearly Someone needs their beauty rest!"As Softkit and Dewkit walked towards exit,A black figure appeared."well,What are my kits doing?"
The black cat was Sharpfang,Their father."Looking for fun!"Dewkit purred."Ahh,I see well let me give you a badger ride!"Sharpfang purred Both kits jumped on and dug tiny paws and held tight as their father ,Gave then a ride.
"Sharpfang!Sharpfang!"Swiftstream yowled."Your on Hunting Patrol with your apprentice."Sharpfang crouched as kits plopped off."Farewell my little warriors."As Black Tom padded away.
When the sun was in middle of sky,The patrol returned with fesh,Juicy prey.Sharpfang dropped a plump mouse In front of Cherryfoot.The dappled queen was sitting outside watching her kits play.
Cherryfoot took a bite as her kits ate along,taking small bites.After they ate.A yowl broke out ."Let all cats old enough to catch prey gather here!!"Acornstar yowled."Today,We perform two important ceremonies."
"Today,Sharpfang's apprentice fought off a fox and has proven that they should earn their warrior name!"Acornstar yelped
"Sharpfang,Has your apprentice show ways of warrior and the code?"Acornstar questioned.
Yes,Brightpaw had fought that fox,like she was a warrior already."Sharpfang purred.
"Brightpaw,Do you promise to uphold the warrior code,even At cost of your own life?"Acornstar yowled."I do"Brightpaw replied.
"Then by power of Starclan,Brightpaw,You be known as Brightsoar!Starclan honors your kindness and bravery.As tradition,You must do vigil."
"Moving on,Brackenkit as reached age of six moons,Which means,He is ready to be a apprentice of Stormclan.Brackenkit,Do promise to follow the code?Even at cost of your life?"Acornstar asked his son
"I do!"Brackenkit mewed as he walked under meeting rock.hopping on a rock that was a few fox lengths up."Until you have earn your warrior name,You shall be known as Brackenpaw!
"Oakstep,This will be your first apprentice,pass your skills that you learned from Sandheart."Acornstar announced."Thank you!"Oakstep purred as she touched noses with Brackenpaw.
Brackenpaw!Brightsoar!" Many cats chanted and echoed.As cats walked away,vanishing into dens."Lucky furball!He is apprentice now!"Softkit mewed,her eye showed a bit of jealously."So?Brightsoar got her warrior name!I hope ours aren't stupid!"Dewkit purred with a bit anger.Softkit nodded in agreement.
"I know,Let's go out of camp and prove to Acornstar,we can be apprentices,Early!"Dewkit squeaked with joy."I don't know...."Softkit spoke."Don't be a scared furball!"Dewkit purred,teasing his sister.
"Err.I am not scared!Let's go then!"She replied ,suppressing her fear.Two kits slipped trough camp exit and passed Swiftstream and Willowfall sneakliy.Dewkit's eyes glittered with curiosity and joy.
Dewkit and Softkit arrived at and Thunderpath."What is this?"Softkit questioned,tilting her head."I don't know"Softkit answered as ginger kit walked on road.
"Yuck!gross!"Softkit whipped his nose up."This stinks!"Dewkit could hear and roar echo from long distance.She spotted pebbles jumping as path underneath her brother shook.
A monster was charging at Softkit,gray clearish smoke came out from behind."Help me!"Softkit's voice trembled.Dewkit was too paralyzed.But Softkit was paralyzed with fear.
The monster headbutted the small kit.Yelp broke as it happened,Dewkit saw his sister,injured.She reeked blood and monster scent."Kits!"Swiftstream yowled.A patrol came,Stormypaw,Skyclaw were on patrol.
Gasp of horror came out of patrol.Skyclaw picked up Dewkit as Softkit was grabbed by Swiftstream.As they returned,Cherryfoot and Sharpfang's eyes widened with terror
"Oh no!My kit!"Cherryfoot yelped.As she sniffed Softkit.Snowberry immediately came out with herbs,Sweetpaw came along as she pressed Cobweb on Softkit's injuries.
--IN NURSERY --
"What were you two thinking?Leaving camp?"Cherryfoot hissed."We just wanted s-some adventure..."Dewkit trembled."That why we have the code and look,what happen to your sister!"Cherryfoot retorted.
"As punishment,You will not leave Nursery until you learn your lesson and you will eat the leftovers from prey I eat myself!"Cherryfoot snarled.Dewkit said nothing,Too shocked,his punishment was so harsh!
Dewkit ate scraps of prey,his mother ate and his sister might die!This was his fault!
