Seriously?
Lorena and Natsha stepped out toward the car. The two of them were on their way to the district administrative office to finalize their divorce.
Suddenly, Lorena's vision blurred. She shook her head slightly, but the sensation did not fade. Gradually, the world before her eyes sank into complete darkness.
"Lorena!" Natsha cried out in alarm. She reacted quickly, catching her just in time.
"Hey, hey! We're not divorced yet! I don't want to be labeled a widow!" Natsha lightly patted her cheek, even lifting a hand to check her breathing.
She's still breathing!!!
Natsha placed a hand over her own chest and let out a sigh of relief. She then pulled out her phone from her coat pocket, tapped a few times, and brought it to her ear.
"Frank! Get us to the hospital, now!" She said the moment the call connected.
"Yes, Miss!" Came the low, steady voice from the other end.
Less than ten minutes later, the man named Frank arrived, beads of sweat dotting his forehead from rushing over.
Natsha had already settled Lorena into the back seat. Frank quickly took the driver's seat.
Natsha was about to urge him to drive faster, but before she could say a word, the car shot forward. She nearly slammed her head into the seat in front but Lorena didn't move an inch.
Natsha's arm had instinctively shielded her without her even realizing it.
As if, deep down, it had long become second nature.

Lorena slowly blinked, adjusting to the stark white light around her. She suddenly sat upright.
"Oh my God!" Natsha jumped in shock. That was the second time today Lorena had nearly given her a heart attack.
"Why am I here?" Lorena asked, looking at her.
"You fainted. Where else would I take you if not the hospital?" Natsha replied, rubbing her chest.
"If there's nothing wrong, then hurry up and go to the district office." Lorena said, tossing aside the blanket covering her.
"What's the rush? You think you're the only one who wants a divorce? Wait for the doctor's results first." Natsha scoffed.
Lorena thought Natsha's expression at that moment was as irritating as it could possibly be.
She couldn't help but wonder how had she managed to stay married to this woman for over a decade?
Not long after, the door slid open. An elderly doctor in a white coat entered the room. He adjusted his glasses and said calmly.
"Congratulations to both of you. The fetus is two months along. During this time, you should avoid excessive strain, both physically and mentally."
"WHAT?"
Both women exclaimed in unison.
"The fetus is two months along." The doctor repeated, unfazed, clearly accustomed to every possible reaction.
Lorena and Natsha stared at each other. Lorena buried her face in her hands and let out a long sigh.
Natsha ran her hands through her hair, tugging at it in frustration.
What on earth was going on? Was this... for real?
