(ENG)(BTS/JINCENTRIC) INNOCENCE
Chapter 3
"Ding"
The sound of the elevator startled Kim Seokjin from his jumbled memories of three days ago. Looking up at the scarlet number 26 displayed on the elevator board, he took another deep breath. Clenching his fists, he walked out of the elevator and headed straight down to the last room.
2620, Director's room
"Knock...Knock..."
-"Come in"
The luxurious wooden door opened, and for the first time, in almost two years working at L hotel, Kim Seokjin was able to admire the legendary room of the Director. He wasn't sure this honor was due to his luck or bad luck. This room was one of the best locations in the building, where people could capture the complete view of the entire city since three-quarters of the room was installed with glass. Although it was not the highest room, one feels that their position has been greatly enhanced at this height. The interior of the room was decorated in a sophisticated modern style that exudes intelligence and classiness. The young man in the gray suit raised his head to observe the young man entering. A wide grin appeared on the young Director's face.
-"Good morning, Seokjin. I'm glad you're back."
-"Good morning, Director Park,"- Kim Seokjin shyly replied with hesitance, "I came to...um..."
-"Come on, don't be so polite. People will think we're strangers." Park Jimin got up from the swivel chair and walked over to the guy standing in the middle of the room. He patted me on the shoulder and led me to the table." Sit down. No need to be rushing."
Kim Seokjin was confused with the warm behavior of the director, who was his junior and his pursuer. Jin sat neatly on the branded lounge chair, tried to keep his head up, but his eyes could not look directly at the bright smile of the person in front of him.
-"When there's no other staff, just call me Jimin like before, don't call me director or something, that sounds really uncomfortable"- Park Jimin pushed the cup of hot tea in front of him. "If I'm not mistaken, you still prefer tea to coffee, right?"
-"Um, thank you, director... um... Jimin"- Jin lowered his eyes to the steaming cup of tea, softly replied. Park Jimin smiled happily.
-"Jimin, thank you so much since you stood bail for me and allowed me to come back here to continue my work"- He still kept his head bowed, slowly continued - "Even though I was judged innocent, working here is still a tough challenge for me."
-"I understand the difficulties you'll face, but Seokjin, you'll be safe here when you're near me"- Jimin put on a stern look. "Park Yerin's case is not over yet, there are still many members of the Park family targeting you, and some of them are beyond my control. The previous Director and General Manager were fired right after the incident, so I asked my father to come here. L hotel is one of the group's mainstays, but I'm here because I want to...protect you. I know you want to leave, but not now."
Surprised by Park Jimin's determined words, Seokjin raised his head to look at him and encountered a very strange look. Maybe because Seokjin never really cared about Jimin, he didn't notice that the junior boy chasing him had already grown up. Jin still remembered the lovely bright smile with his chubby pink face and eyes filled with admiration. But now, his face was no longer round and sweet; his eyes were no longer naive but filled with experience and the oppressive feeling of the elite class. Jin, at this moment, could only lament how time can change anyone.
"You can continue to work at the front desk or move to another department...or be my personal assistant..."- Park Jimin smiled lightly, emphasizing the last three words.
"I...you..."-Seokjin was a bit surprised by his suggestion, so he stammered and couldn't say anything.
"There's no need to be ashamed of using the back door. I've been looking at your professional assessment for the past year and a half. If it weren't for this case, you would probably be promoted in a few months. I have great confidence in your ability."
Seokjin felt a bit happy and proud when Park Jimin praised his work but soon, he sighed inwardly, "Such a waste for my efforts."
Seeing Jin being lost in his own thoughts, Park Jimin raised his voice to pull him back to reality.
-" You don't need to answer right now since you have plenty of time. Let me know when you're ready. Also, take a good rest. I expect to see a healthy and lively Seokjin the next time."
"Thank you so much, Jimin."
As soon as Jin stepped out of L hotel's entrance, a "Ding Ding" signaled the arrival of a message.
From: XXXXXX9294
Tonight, 7 p.m, Alley 21 on XX street, BT Bar.
Jin read the message carefully to memorize all the information and quickly erased all traces.
