(ENG)(BTS/JINCENTRIC) INNOCENCE
Chapter 38
-"Difficult, huh? Then let this little brother choose for you."- Kim Taehyung smiled sarcastically and gestured to Jungkook with his eyes. Meeting Seokjin's eyes, the boy clutched the gun in his hand and bit his lip hesitantly.
The eerie silence was promptly broken by the sound of police sirens growing louder and louder.
-"Kim Taehyung, the police are here. Stop before it's too late. I'll help you commute your sentence"- Kim Namjoon looked at Jungkook's hesitation, understanding that the boy didn't want to kill Jin, so he tried to convince Kim Taehyung.
-"Shut up. Jungkook, kill him."
Jungkook walked over to Kim Seokjin, who was being shielded behind Kim Namjoon. The detective just raised his hand to protest when Kim Taehyung's warning gun sounded, making him helplessly stop all actions. Jungkook pulled Kim Seokjin closer to Kim Taehyung while avoiding his eyes all the way.
At that moment, the police quickly followed the formation, flooding into the factory one by one. Kim Namjoon's boss and his teacher since he was at the police school, Lee Jaeha, finally appeared with the whole crew holding a gun and pointing at Kim Taehyung.
-"Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, you two are surrounded, quickly release the hostages."
-"Well, well. Such a great feast today. You've prepared well, my brother. And as your little brother, I should give you a small gift for your hard work"- Kim Taehyung's face was so calm that it made people feel the icy cold running over their spines. The usual handsome and pompous beauty could not overshadow the madness in his face.
-"Jungkook, kill Kim Seokjin. NOW"- He ordered again
Since he heard the police siren, Jungkook had determined this was probably the last time he could see this guy. At this point, their eyes finally faced each other's eyes directly while the gun's muzzle was aimed directly at Jin's heart.
-"Can I ask you one thing before you shoot me?" He smiled sadly. Catching the eyes filled with pain, Jungkook nodded for a reply.
-"The time you spent with me was all fake, right? From the first time we met, all your concerns and worries weren't real, right?"- The eyes began to heat up. For Park Jimin, he really had no feelings at all. But in Jeon Jungkook, he felt love and affection like a real brother. When he learned the truth about the younger's identity, that betrayal was like a mighty slap that made him feel so much pain, sadness, and loneliness. That day, when he knew the truth, he didn't directly tear-off Jungkook's mask, partly because he wanted to get the necessary information from Kim Taehyung. But mostly, it was because he was afraid, afraid of the day when the two would actually confront each other. Like now, the fear had come true.
-"Jungkook, hurry up"- Kim Taehyung lost his temper and shouted.
-"No. It's not"- Jeon Jungkook choked out, tears falling from the corners of his eyes."It was like that at first, but after the first night, the feelings I expressed were all sincere. Sorry for lying to you"- Tears of uncontrollable regret fell down the younger's chubby cheeks. Seeing those watery eyes, Kim Seokjin's tears also fell.
-"JEON. JUNG. KOOK"- This time, Kim Taehyung was really angry when Jungkook intentionally disobeyed his words, so he pushed Jung Hoseok asides and pointed his gun at Kim Seokjin.
-"NO"
"Bang...Bang"
Three shouts rang out simultaneously with two gunshots.
Jeon Jungkook stood in front of Seokjin while Kim Taehyung quickly collapsed.
Jin froze as he felt Jungkook's body slowly fall down.
On the opposite side, Kim Taehyung's thigh was shot, and he fell to his knees, but his angry eyes were still directed at Kim Seokjin. He gritted his teeth and was about to raise his gun when a strong kick from his brother forced him to let go of the weapon.
Kim Seokjin held the younger in his lap, the blood drenching his white shirt forming dreary crimson flowers.
-"Jungkook, why did you do that? You idiot"- Tears kept falling down mixed with the bright red color on Jungkook's shirt.
-"It's...my fault, I should have...I should have taken you away...from here...earlier..."- Jungkook brought his bloody hand up to touch the older's soft cheek. "I know...you just...see me as...just a brother... It's me...I'm...a bit greedy..., but...I... lo-ove..."- From Jungkook's mouth, fresh blood flowed out, his breath became lighter and lighter, the hand on his cheek also gradually slid down.
-"You"- The last breath was finally taken away.
-"Jeon Jungkook, no, please wake up, I'm begging you, please"- Kim Seokjin held him tightly in his arms, the mournful cry echoed through the factory.
Kim Taehyung watched his dear brother die under his gun, his frantic gazed now filled with loss. He suddenly laughed like crazy, laughing until his whole body twitched, but tears kept pouring out of the corners of his eyes.
The police had moved forward to escort all the guilty people away. Park Jimin stood behind and witnessed everything from the beginning to the end. From the moment Jungkook, because of Jin, disobeyed Kim Taehyung's orders and received the shot until now, when Kim Seokjin cried in pain while mournfully holding a body that was slowly cooling.
-"Look, how many hearts have been broken by you. Kim Seokjin, you are so cruel"- After that, he turned his back to follow the policeman beside him.
The words pierced Kim Seokjin's eardrums, sending a massive shock through his body. He felt like thousands of knives were engraved on his brain how cruel he was. The vision gradually blurred due to the pain, and a few seconds later, the whole space was engulfed in endless darkness.

One fine day, the night that had imprisoned him was finally broken by the bright light streaming from the window. Kim Seokjin frowned, slowly getting used to the light before fully opening his eyes. Realizing himself was lying on the hospital bed and listening to the water dripping in the IV stock, he still felt the sharp pain under his breast. He stared blankly at the white ceiling, letting the memory of that horrible day come back. When the image of Jungkook was covered in blood in his lap appeared in his blank brain, the corners of his eyes quickly filled with hot tears.
A moment after, the door opened, and a familiar figure entered. Their eyes soon met each other, the other person happily ran over to the bed.
-"You finally woke up. Why are you crying? Are you still in pain?"- Noticing his teary eyes, Kim Namjoon was panicked. He was about to turn to call the doctor but heard him say
-"I'm Ok."
-"Then why are you crying?" Kim Namjoon crouched down, wiped his tears with his callused finger, and gently caressed his hair.
-"How's everyone doing?" He didn't answer the detective's question but asked another question
-"Those who need to go to prison all go to prison. Kim Taehyung took all the blame on himself, so Park Shinhye was released. Park Jimin went back to take over the L corporation" - The detective sat down on the chair next to the bed, holding his hand, warmly explained.
-"What about Jungkook?" Jin choked out
-"Hoseok brought him to B city where he was raised in an orphanage before being sent to America. Hoseok also held a funeral and buried him there."
Tears rolled down Jin's pale cheeks. Kim Namjoon understood that the other still held the blame in his heart, so he gently hugged and comforted him.
-"It's not your fault. It's his choice."
Kim Namjoon kept comforting him until the person on the bed gradually fell asleep. He then carefully covered the blanket, placed a sweet kiss on the smaller's forehead, and looked at him lovingly.
-"I love you, get well soon. I'm waiting for you, Jinnie."
.
As soon as the door closed, the patient on the bed immediately opened his eyes and sat up. Reaching out for the phone on the bedside table, he sent a message. After tiredly pulling out the needle in his hand, he opened the cabinet to look for his personal belongings. Finding a piece of paper and a pen, he sat down on the bed and carefully wrote down the letters he wanted to tell the other person.
Thirty minutes after the phone rang, Kim Seokjin picked up the phone.
-"I'm coming."
The hospital room soon became dreary and lonely. On the hospital bed, the warmth slowly dissipated, leaving the cold and the handwritten letter dotted with water droplets that had not yet dried completely.
The next day, Kim Namjoon walked excitedly to the hospital with a delicately wrapped bouquet of flowers. He was about to open the door to enter the room when he met a nurse coming out carrying things. The nurse saw him and wondered.
-"Detective Kim, what are you doing here? Didn't the patient already leave?"
Once he heard that, Kim Namjoon was frightened and rushed inside the room. The whole room was eerily quiet. The furniture had been rearranged to the original position as if that person never existed.
- "When did he leave?" - He turned around and asked the nurse urgently.
-"Early this morning when I arrived, I didn't see..." - The nurse didn't have time to finish talking; Kim Namjoon had already run away, leaving the rest in shock. Suddenly remembering the letter she picked up this morning, the nurse was about to run after the other person, but his figure had disappeared completely.

Park Jimin was approving documents in the Chairman's room in the building of L Corporation when he heard a quarrel outside. He frowned and raised his head to watch Kim Namjoon's eyes were burning as he stubbornly entered the room despite the secretary's objection.
-"Where did you take Seokjin?"
Park Jimin heard the question and the terroristic look of the other; he took off his glasses, smirking.
-"Detective Kim, Kim Seokjin's missing has nothing to do with me. Why did you come to me? Do you have proof that I took him away?"
-"Who else is there beside you?"-Kim Namjoon shouted as he slammed on the table
Park Jimin laughed even louder. He stood up with his arms crossed and said slowly.
-"Why don't you think he left on his own?"
-"Can't be... "
-"Mr. Detective, remember how you used him to trick me? I was exactly like you now at the moment I found out the truth. What Kim Seokjin wants is only freedom."
.
.
Leaving Chairman Office of L Corporation, Kim Namjoon wandered down the street with Park Jimin's last words repeating over and over in his head.
-"What Kim Seokjin wants is only freedom."
.
.
Dark clouds suddenly came, heavy raindrops fell. One drop, two drops...the whole city gradually sank into the white rain. Park Jimin silently looked at the raindrops hitting the window, then looked in a dim direction far away, smiling sadly.
-"Goodbye, my love."

Thank you for your supports during this time. This fic was actually done in my first language for a while but not until two weeks ago, when I decided to translate it into English to practice my writing. I'm happy that many of you liked it. I probably made many mistakes in both plotting and writing but you can't improve from perfection anyway. Some of you may like/hate this ending but deal with it :))) 'cause I'm not HE lover. My next fic is coming soon. It's also translated from one of my completed fics with a similar vibe and genre. Once again, thank you so so much <3.
