(ENG)(BTS/JINCENTRIC) INNOCENCE

Chapter 5

pinkmoon1314920

The whole city lighted up brightly, making the chilly spring night much warmer. The talks and laughs of people filled up the night. Some couples were holding hands, whispering soft words of love, or exchanging warm kisses. And, there were people... tossed and turned in bed all night.

Kim Seokjin sat on the bed looking at the documents Namjoon gave him two hours ago. Too much information to be digested. Smuggling drugs, weapons, bribing the government,... All those shits harshly attacked his brain and tore his mentality into pieces.

His life goal was just as simple as himself, a peaceful life. Working hard every day, finding someone he loved, and enjoying a happy family with beautiful children. But all his plans were ruined because of a murder case that he didn't do anything. He really wanted to throw all these papers in Namjoon's face and yell at him, "F*** you! I won't do it, let me rot in prison for the rest of my life". However, the precious life Jin's parents gave him wasn't for unjust imprisonment. Only when the real culprit in Park Yerin's case was caught might Jin be freed from the dirty and dark secrets of the Park family.

Due to his commitment to the detective, Namjoon used his authority to disable some evidence (that's what Namjoon told him), so Jin was acquitted based on "insufficient evidence."

On the one hand, Jin didn't fully trust that grumpy detective because that jerk seemed to be hiding some important things from him. For example, Kim Namjoon could plant other people in the L hotel; why did he ask Jin to spy? Was it only because Park Jimin was interested in him? And the way Namjoon helped him avoid conviction was so smooth and quick. On the other hand, he couldn't rely on Park Jimin either. Even though Jin knew Jimin had a crush on him and he didn't look like the type to get into all that dirty businesses, he didn't dare to bet. Park Jimin now was completely different from the innocent boy he used to be, or he had never been really that naive.

_"Honestly, how could an innocent soul survive in such a chaotic family" - Jin whispered to himself.

"I have to find evidence and that fucking murderer to prove my innocence, then leave this city as soon as possible. The Land Genie here probably hates me already. Perhaps coming back to home town and opening a homestay? I will have time to take care of my parents as well. Such a good idea,"

jin was a little happier when he found a new motivation to continue this dangerous spying job. Pulling back his mind, he reread the documents and tried to memorize all the information.

The phone screen showed a notification string with a new message. The man looked at the name of the sender and smiled while opening the message.

From: Jinnie

Thank you for your valuable offer, but I don't think I am qualified to be your assistant. I will continue to work at the front desk.

His brows were wrinkled in disappointment but quickly relaxed when something crossed his mind.

-"You can't escape from me, Jinnie... ever" the man whispered while clicking a reply to the message.

To Jinnie

It's okay. Tell me once you feel confident about your ability. This assistant position is always reserved for you. See you next week, good night, my love.

Looking at the text message from Park Jimin, Jin felt goosebumps all over his body. Before the murder case, Park Jimin's expression and behaviors were pretty subtle and not this loud. Seokjin didn't hold any prejudice against homosexuality. Still, he considered himself straight, so he was uncomfortable receiving excessive love or contact from men. In fact, it was not that comfortable either for him to deal with the opposite sex.

"Am I asexual?"

-"Fuck it, let's sleep"- He tried to throw everything behind the hill and fell asleep heavily.

A beautiful Monday morning with cool spring weather and gentle sunlight stretching on the road covered with cherry blossom was just the best vibe to start a new week. However, Seokjin felt a bit nervous as he walked down the familiar path to work.

A few days ago, his supervisor contacted him to inform the shift schedule. He was delighted with the arrangement as it was much better than before. Last time, he had to work many night shifts without a regular schedule, which affected his health badly. His skin quality was awful, and the dark circles under his eyes became more and more obvious due to the sleep disorder. But now the night shifts were much less, there were only one or two times per week, and the rest was all days off. During the phone conversation with the supervisor, she did not mention anything regarding the murder. She even wished him a good rest so that he could return to work again. Her attitude was beyond Jin's expectations. He didn't know if Park Jimin was involved, but he was really grateful.

To be honest, the Park family's power was exceptionally effective in covering their scandal and secret from the public and the media. The first week peacefully passed as everything went back to normal, and no one mentioned the horrible murder, at least not in front of him. Strangely enough, this week, he didn't see any sign of Park Jimin or receive any news from Kim Namjoon. It felt like everything was back to the state before the murder happened. However, in the last few days of that week, the news and gossips of the newly appointed general manager spread widely throughout the hotel. Jin tried to recall the name of the new general manager as he walked back to his rent.

"Ah, Taehyung, Kim Taehyung. Such a good name."
