Final
"Beomie, wakie!" Taehyun nudged the still sleeping boy. It is now 7am on a Monday.
"Hyun?" Beomgyu looked over at him confused. "What's up?"
"You're being discharged. We're actually gonna make it to school after all." The younger stated.
"School? Aw, but we literally just defeated crazy bad guys!!" Beomgyu whined.
"I know.. but I can't risk my perfect attendance! Yeonjun even brought us clothes." He states.
"Owh.. fine! But only because you want to.." Beomgyu huffs. Taehyun smiled at him.
They got out of the hospital bed and changed into clothes Yeonjun had left them the day before.
"My mom said she'll be picking us up." Taehyun says.
"Okay!" Beomgyu replies.
The two boys get changed. Every time Beomgyu accidentally nudged his arm on an object or something, Taehyun would check up on the older and worry about his injury.
Yet to Beomgyu, he can't exactly feel the pain anymore. The pain already disappeared, but the injury will still get worse if he isn't careful.
After changing, they made their way out to the front where Taehyun's mom was waiting for them.
"Mom! Hiii!" Taehyun waved to his mom, giving her a big hug.
"Hi, Mrs. Kang." Beomgyu also greets her.
"Oh, boys, you both had me so worried." Mrs. Kang sighed, scooting closer to Beomgyu for him to join the hug.
"Don't worry about it." Taehyun chuckles. "In the end, we saved the day." He grinned.
"I even got shot in the process!" Beomgyu points out.
"That.. is something." Mrs. Kang chuckled nervously. "Anyways, hop on in." She hums, looking at the two.
"Yay! I'm actually so excited for some reason! Oh, by the way, mom. Beomgyu and I are confessed our feelings to each other."
"Oh? That's something new." She replied.
"Hehe, yeah! But we're not gonna be official until Taehyun takes me on an actual date." Beomgyu states.
"Mhm, mhm!" Taehyun nods, agreeing.
"Well I hope when the time comes, you two will have fun." His mom chuckles.
Taehyun furrowed his eyebrows as he noticed they were getting closer to his own house. "Our home..?" He questioned.
"Yep! You guys actually don't have school today, if you read the school's year calendar." She states, parking in their driveway.
"Oh- I didn't know about that." Beomgyu chuckles.
"We must've been so caught up with what happened yesterday.. we didn't realize we had no school today." Taehyun said.
"That's okay, boys. Now you know!" Taehyun's mom states.
"Let's just go!! I need food!" Beomgyu exclaimed.
"Same here. We haven't eaten since yesterday before we went to save a bunch of fairies." Taehyun giggles.
"You're right! Let's goooo!" Beomgyu hops out of the car.
Taehyun's mom got out as well, followed by Taehyun himself.
"Beomgyu, help me over here, please. Taehyun, go in first, sweetie." Mrs. Kang says.
"Okay, mom." Taehyun replied.
He then entered the house first. "How on earth is the room so dark?? It's still early.." he mumbles to himself. "Ziggy, turn the lights on." He told his echo. (A smart speaker btw.)
The lights turned on in a fading motion, allowing humans to adjust to the light without being blinded.
"Surprise!!" A crowd of voices echoed the room.
Taehyun gasped, seeing his entire family gathered in the living room, singing him the birthday song. Yeonjun and all the tiny fairies they just met were also there.
What surprised him even more were the number of his classmates from his homeroom that also joined the party.
He turned around and gasped another time, seeing Beomgyu holding a cake with lit candles and a shy smile on his face. It was quite the sight to see.
"Happy Birthday, Taehyun-ah." Beomgyu says.
"Wow.. when did you all plan this??" Taehyun asked around.
"It was quite the work, but I contacted everyone and whoever came, came." Yeonjun explained.
"Your cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents all came yesterday. They all helped set everything up." Taehyun's dad said.
"I knew you'd be staying with Beomgyu for the night so it was a good chance to bring everyone over. I just.. didn't expect you two spending the night in a hospital.." Mrs. Kang awkwardly states.
"Your mom and I love you so much, son." Mr. Kang chuckles, ruffling his wife's hair. "She was so worried to hear about what happened."
"At least we're okay." Taehyun smiles.
"Hyun.. you never blew out your candles.." Beomgyu pouts.
"Haha, sorry, Beomie." He came closer to the cake and blew the candles out.
"Yay!! Now we can have cake!" Hueningkai cheers from behind Taehyun.
"Pfft- hello, Kai." He greets the younger fairy.
"Hii birthday boy!!" Huening gave him a tiny hug on his face.
"Congrats on becoming a year older!" Soobin says, flying over to his friends.
"Wow! You can fly again, Soobin!" Taehyun states, amazed.
"Yep! My wing already healed." He smiled widely, landing on Taehyun's shoulder. "I'm actually so happy right now you have no idea." Soobin hugged his wing like it was his baby.
"Soobinie~" Yeonjun called for the fairy.
Taehyun and Beomgyu both look at the fairy confused.
"Oh right! While you both were making out in the hospital, Yeonjun and I got to know each other so we got a tad bit closer!" Soobin explained.
Taehyun chuckles. "So you actually meant it when you said fairies know what they like?"
"Yup, exactly. Sorry Gyu, your brother's mine now." Soobin struts away, flying to his soon to be human boyfriend.
"But you are so tiny.. and he's so.. giant." Beomgyu mumbles to himself.
"Fairies can actually turn human sized if they kiss a human." Huening Kai states.
"SINCE WHEN?!" The two humans gasped.
"Since.. forever? I don't know, it's a myth. We fairies never tried before." Huening shrugged.
"Um.. anyways! Let's have some cake, everyone!" After listening to all that, Mrs. Kang made everyone focus on the cake.
Beomgyu placed the cake down on a table in the living room. "Taehyunie, come cut the cake." He said.
"Okay!" Taehyun went over to Beomgyu's side. His dad gave him a knife for the cake. He looked around and there were exactly 35 humans and 50 fairies. "Sooo, who doesn't want cake?" He asked around.
In the end, it was just the smaller cousins from Taehyun's family who wanted some cake. Some of his classmates did too, and some wanted to share, like Beomgyu and Taehyun. The fairies all shared one cake.
There was even a bit of cake left to spare. Thats how big the cake was.
And the party was only just getting started! Moving on to the kitchen, there were rows and rows of food on the table waiting to be eaten.
Yes, everyone who wanted cake just had cake, but still, who can resist the food?
They all sat at the table and grabbed what they wanted to eat, enjoying their meal and everyone in front of them.
When they finished their meal and chatting away with each other, it was only 10am.
"Taehyun-ah, how would you like to spend the rest of your birthday?" His mom asked him.
Taehyun thought to himself. He turned towards Beomgyu who was just smiling at him. And then, he had a great idea.
-
"Almost there." He said to the huge group of people.
"Where are we even going..?" Yeonjun raised a brow.
Beomgyu gasped. "Waaait, I know exactly where we're going!" He exclaimed.
"Hehe, right you are, Beomie!" Taehyun then stopped and turned around. "Welcome to my favorite place in the world." He said.
Everyone looked around, quite shocked. They were in a park. A very fun public park.
"Yayy! Fun!!" The younger cousins exclaimed, running towards the giant swing and other fun structures in this park.
(Search up 'Central Park of Maple Grove, MN')
"May I?" Taehyun asked, holding his hand out for Beomgyu.
"Yes, you may." Beomgyu giggles, taking Taehyun's hand.
The two walked over to this giant rock tunnel. They climbed to the very top and just sat there. Very dangerous, yes, but also very relaxing. (Who am I kidding, this entire park is dangerous.)
This is their favorite spot to hang out, especially after 11pm when it's dark and everything is such a vibe.
Yeonjun watched and followed their lead, climbing to the top of the rock structure. "Woah, it's so high up.. but from the outside it's a lot shorter!"
"I can see everything from here!" Soobin exclaimed, excitedly on Yeonjun's head.
"Wahh! It's so scary!" Huening Kai exclaimed, clinging onto Yeonjun's arm tightly.
Looking around the place, they smiled seeing everyone enjoying themselves. Be it old or young, everyone is doing something at this park.
It was the perfect place and Taehyun knew it.
Around 4pm, (yes they spent 6 hours at a park nonstop) people were getting tired of playing and decided they wanted to eat something.
"Oh! How about we go out to eat? Like, a buffet?" Someone suggested.
"Good idea!" Mr. Kang claps for the suggester.
"Where though?" Mrs. Kang asked.
"Um.. Taehyun gets to choose since he's the birthday boy!" An aunt says.
"Okay then! Everyone, follow me!" Taehyun grins.
-
"Wow Yeonjun, you ate a lot." Beomgyu snickers, teasing his brother.
"Of course I did." Yeonjun hums. "Gotta eat my money's worth."
"You didn't even pay??" Taehyun questioned him.
"Haha, it's alright Taehyun. I said I'd pay for them so I did." Taehyun's dad ruffled his son's hair.
"Yeah. We had a lot of help paying from your aunts and uncles, anyways." Taehyun's mom says.
"True." Taehyun shrugs. "Now what should we do?? It's only 7pm. We still have time for other things."
"Wanna watch a movie together? If we can fit everyone in your theatre room.. eheh." Beomgyu suggests.
"I guess? Who doesn't wanna watch the movie though?" Taehyun asked.
Nobody says anything.
"Okay! Guess we're fitting 35 people and 50 fairies in the theatre room!" Taehyun then walks out of the buffet.
They all walked back home, as they never came by car anyways. Good exercise, so it's fineee.
When they got home, it was around 8pm. Mr. Kang sets up the theatre room.
Instead of all 35 people, it ended up just being the kids, young adults, and fairies who stayed to watch.
As for the older adults, they went to the basement to do their own thing. Aka, get themselves hella drunk and party.
An hour into the movie, Yeonjun suddenly started bawling his eyes out. "Wahh! Her wing!!" He exclaimed
"This has got to be the saddest fairy movie I've ever seen!" Huening Kai cries.
"This is the first movie you've ever seen, Kai!" Soobin said, also in tears.
(Can you guess what they watched?)
Beomgyu chuckled a little. He felt a nudge on his shoulder. Looking to his right, Taehyun was motioning for him to get up.
The two snuck out of the theatre room without anyone knowing and crept up the stairs to Taehyun's room.
This would be the first time they were in Taehyun's room alone together! But it was the second time they were alone in a room together.
And what would it mean to be alone, after having confessed their feelings for each other, the door is locked and everyone is distracted?
They cuddle, of course!
Taehyun jumped onto his bed, arms out for Beomgyu to climb on top. Of course he did so with no hesitation, the two smiling and giggling as they got into a comfortable position.
They stare into each other's eyes, only seeing the love they had for each other.
"Happy birthday, Taehyunie." Beomgyu said once again.
It was different from the first time he said it. Before, a cake was blocking Taehyun from hugging Beomgyu tightly. But now, he was close enough to feel his breath.
And he could do something better than a hug. Taehyun leaned closer and kissed Beomgyu for the first time. When they parted, they couldn't help but smile widely.
They closed their eyes and held each other close, falling soundly asleep to the sound of their heartbeats.
This is what Taehyun calls the perfect birthday.
✨The end ✨
