Chapter 4:The Memory That Must Be Erased

duy159753

The gravity still wouldn’t release him.

Not until he chose.

Erah floated at the center of his own history—
every bond he had ever formed,
every name he had once carried,
every moment that had defined who he was.

To move forward,
he had to sacrifice one.

Not merely forget it.
But erase it entirely
from the world, from others’ memories,
even from the glyphs that preserved memory.

He closed his eyes.
He saw the girl with time-killed eyes.
The boy who once fought beside him.
The woman who drew his first glyph by hand.
The version of himself who believed everything could still be healed.

All of them were real.
All of them were part of him.

“Choose,”
the whisper spoke again,
“the one you cannot carry if you wish to reach the end.”

And so…
he chose her.

The girl.

He didn’t speak her name.
He didn’t need to.
Because it was already unraveling
her presence dissolving from the threads of time.

Her glyph—
once soaked in sorrow—
faded into blankness.
And even Erah, in the act of letting go,
could no longer remember her face.

She became a silence so pure
it could never be filled again.

In that moment,
the gravity loosened.
Not all at once—
but like a breath exhaled after centuries of suffocation.

Erah began to rise.

Lighter.
More hollow.
But also sharper—
as though something had been carved away
to leave behind only the essential shape.

At the edge of the abyss,
a new glyph floated.
It had no name.
No origin.
But it glowed with a soft, final kind of truth.

The Seventh Glyph,
nearing completion.

And Erah...
nearing the decision that would end all decisions.
