43 Destiny
Part 43 Destiny
"I don't hug you just because I'm emotional... I just want to... because I love you, Khushi" said Arnav emotionally.
Khushi's hands raised up. She also cuddled him, making him delighted. He looked at her surprisingly with an adorable smile.
"I don't hug you just because I wanted it... it's because I'm emotional..." She said supressing her smile.
"Oh... why are you emotional?"
"I too have a habit of hugging the person in front of me if I'm emotional"
"What made you emotional?"
"Your confession..."
"I said the truth"
Khushi looked at him breaking the hug.
"Why me, Arnavji? You would have come crossing many beautiful girls in your life. Don't you feel anything for anyone so far?" she asked.
Arnav's facial reaction changed.
"Honestly speaking... I had..." he said seriously.
"For whom?"
"I saw a girl in a fashion show. She looked so beautiful... just like a fresh flower. I have lost my mind completely. I so wanted that woman in my life. (he said dreamingly and Khushi was gazing at him bewildered) I followed her wherever she went. I was full set to talk to her about my future. I followed her for almost one hour. At last, she went to the green room to get changed. I waited for her to come out. After twenty minutes, an old lady with white hair and wrinkles on her face came out. I asked her about the woman. Do you know what she said?"
"What?" Khushi asked gulping down.
"She said, she was the woman..."
"Whaaaaa?" she shouted in shock.
"Yup... she was wearing make up to hide her real face as she was a model" he sighed sadly.
Khushi was looking at him suspiciously.
"From the day, I stopped chasing women... I was in a search of a REAL face without make up. I got you. so, I fallen in love with you... this is my sad story..." he said clutching her hands.
Khushi shrugged his hands off.
"Lie... you are lying... this is a built up story. You didn't meet anyone nor did you chase her..." Khushi said.
"How are you so confident, Khushi?"
"Look at your face... it looks with no real sadness"
"Really? Was not my acting good enough?" he asked feeling sad.
"Lair..."
"You were so interested to know the reason why I love you... what can I say when I have no reason? So, I built it up... was not my story good?" he asked leaning towards her.
She nodded no pressing her lips.
"You are a worst story teller and also worst in acting"
"Then you teach me... because you are expert in acting. You know to hide your feelings better than me"
She rolled her eyes and about to go,
"Hey..." he stopped her.
"Mmm?"
"Don't you like me? Am I not fit?"
"I like you so much and you are fit for everything"
"Really? Why do you like me?"
"Because you don't misbehave with me..." she said supressing her laughter.
Arnav chuckled.
"that means, you are going to hate me in the near future as I'm planning to misbehave with you severely"
"Oh, really?" she folded her hands.
"Yup... I will try to misbehave with you in the way you like" he said with a naughty smirk.
Khushi tried to push him. Arnav clutched her hands laughingly. In that, Khushi's mangal Sutra got cut. Its beads scattered all over the room. Khushi and also Arnav got stuck. But, as Arnav didn't expect, Khushi's eyes tear up. She started collecting the scattered beads.
"Khushi, what happened?" Arnav asked worriedly.
She continued collecting the beads without answering him.
"Shall I help you?" Arnav asked.
Arnav lifted Khushi, clutching her shoulders as he didn't get answer.
"Khushi, what's the problem?" he asked restlessly.
"My mangal sutra..." she said showing the beats she collected.
"It's just a chain, Khushi..."
Khushi bowed down with a sad expression said nothing.
"According to you, it's a chain. Why are you crying like a married woman?" he intentionally asked.
"Am I not?"
Arnav got stuck.
"Ritually not yet..."
"But legally I'm... and you are my husband. How won't I be worried?"
Arnav didn't know what to answer. Is she thinking so? Is she considering him as her husband? Like really?
"Ok... but what's there to be worried?"
"What if something happens to you?" she asked nervously.
"Nothing will happen to me..." he touched her shoulder.
She shrugged his hand off wearily.
"What's wrong Khushi? Are we connected to each other or what?"
"Why are you talking like this? This is not done..." she said looking at the beads.
"Until we get married ritually, nothing will happen to me"
"What does that mean ritually? We signed our wedding papers today and our wedding got registered. Then who are we?"
"Who?"
"Leave it..."
She turned to leave,
"Do you want to wear a mangal sutra now itself or will you be waiting until our wedding?" he asked purposely.
"You don't have to worry about it... leave it"
"What will you do?"
Taking her bag, she walked towards the door.
"Where are you going Khushi?"
"Somewhere" she opened the door.
At the same time, Anjali entered in.
"Are you guys going somewhere?" Anjali asked.
"Haan, Bhabi..."
"I'm here to call you guys... Nani has been arranged for a small HAVAN"
Khushi looked at Arnav. She didn't know whether she can take place in the havan without mangal sutra. Anjali saw Khushi's neck without a mangal sutra.
"Khushiji, being a married woman, you should not be wearing mangal sutra when going out of home"
"Her mangal sutra got cut Di" Arnav said.
"Whaaaat? How?" Anjali asked shockingly.
"I pulled it unknowingly" Arnav said.
"Oh, my God..." Anjali panicked, looking at Khushi.
"Relax Di... Khushi is already upset. Don't make her more upset, please"
"It's obvious, Chotte..." Anjali said feeling sad.
"It's nothing Di"
"Khushi, you come with me" Anjali dragged Khushi with her.
Khushi went with Anjali.
"Bhabi, I'm going to the shop to buy one" Khushi said
"Wait, Khushi... be seated here"
Anjali made her sit in the living room. Khushi saw the Havan arrangements done by a pandit. Anjali dialled a gold merchant.
"Namaste, Mothi Lalji"
"..........."
"I need a mangal sutra immediately"
"........."
"Yes, now"
"........."
"I will be waiting"
She disconnected the call.
"Don't stress yourself Khushi"
Khushi nodded ok formally.
"What happened, Anjali Bituiya?" Asked Nani.
"Khushi's mangal sutra got cut, Nani. that's why I asked Mothilalji to bring one"
"You have done a good job."
"Khushi is upset"
"Don't worry, Khushi bitiya. I will do Pooja for you and Chotte before MothiLal comes. Come and sit in the Havan"
Khushi nodded ok and sat with Anjali.
Within an hour, the merchant reached RM with a mangal sutra in many designs.
"Khushi, let's go... The Havan is almost completed."
Khushi nodded ok and came with Anjali.
Mothilal gave them a bunch of Mangal sutras.
"Choose one from these, Khushi" Anjali said.
Khushi nodded ok and selected one with a low prize. She extended it to Anjali. Before Anjali took it from her hand, Arnav snatched it from her and kept it back. He chose one from the bunch and gave it to the merchant.
"Bill it" Arnav said.
"Three and half a lakhs Raizadaji" the merchant said.
Khushi widened her eyes, hearing that.
"Ok...send the bill to AR and get the cheque" Arnav said.
Khushi looked at Arnav with a shock.
"Ok, ji" Keeping the mangal sutra in a box, the merchant gave it to Arnav.
As Khushi didn't expect, taking the mangal sutra from the box, Arnav tied it around Khushi's neck. Khushi looked at him, raising her head, bewildered.
At the same time, Nani came with the Pooja plate, finishing the Pooja. She extended it to Anjali.
"Chotte, fill Khushiji's partition too" She asked.
Khushi was gazing at him like a bewitched person. Taking a pinch of vermillion from the box, Arnav filled it on her forehead.
"Arnav bituwa, it looks like a MINI wedding. The holy fire is also here. Why not you guys take Pharas in front of us once again?" Manorama asked for fun.
Taking it seriously, Arnav clutched Khushis hand and went to the holy fire. He started circling it for three times and gave space for Khushi to take lead.
"Come on, Khushi bitiya, do it" Manoram said.
Anjali shot it in her mobile gladly. Completing the pharas,
"Bless us Nani" Arnav said looking at Khushi.
He pulled her hand gently and bent down to touch Nani's feet. Khushi touched Nanis feet, gulping down.
"Live long happily, being together" Nani blessed them.
Khushi looked at Arnav astonished.
The pandit extended a Laddoo plate.
"This is Devima's Prasad. You both have it" He said.
Arnav nodded ok and forwarded the half of the Laddoo to Khushi.
"You have got Devi Maiya's blessings, Khushi. You don't have to be worried anymore. You and Chotte are going to live happily" Anjali said feeling relieved.
Khushi stood not responding as she didn't know how to react. Everything happened so quickly. She was not given time to compose herself. What does this mean? Why all these happen? Just today evening they became husband and wife legally by signing their wedding papers. And now this...!
"Khushi... have the Laddoo... Chotte is waiting" Said Anjali.
Khushi plastered a smile and had it from Arnav's hand. Arnav put the remaining Laddoo in his mouth and ate.
"I'm going to the room" Khushi said.
"You got married to Chotte once again. Don't stress yourself anymore. Be happy" Anjali said.
Khushi nodded ok and went.
"She looked distress..." Anjali said.
"It's because she loves Chotte very much. That's why she was scared, seeing the mangal sutra cut" Nani said.
Anjali nodded yes. Arnav left the place smilingly. When he came to his room, he saw Khushi sitting in front of the dressing table, touching the mangal sutra with bafflement.
To be continued...
