15 Trick
Part 15 Trick
Shashi was not completely glad about Dhruv's proposal because though his family was lovely, Dhruv never satisfied him with his skills, like Arnav did. But he knew he would take over his father's business in a few days after the completion of his master's. So, he would learn those skills from his father, and he would also be there. He quickly calculated. Yet, he didn't want to give up easily because his daughter was more efficient than Dhruv.
"What are you thinking, uncle?"
"You have not settled into your life. You never showed up in your father's office. How could I give my daughter's hand to the unsettled man like you?"
"Just because I didn't show up in the office doesn't mean I don't know anything. I'm updating everything from Dad. I know what you and my father are doing."
"Mmm... this is about my daughter's life. I can't decide alone. Let me talk to Khushi. Then only I can decide..."
"It will be better if you decide alone..."
Shashi frowned.
"Why are you saying so?"
"Because Khushi will not agree to this wedding."
"But why?"
"It's because she is bewitched."
"What do you mean by bewitched?"
"She is in the wrong hands. She will not listen to anyone, even though she knew she was doing stupid..."
"Tell me the matter clearly, instead of beating around the bush."
"She is in love with the person who was in love with another one."
"Whaaaat?"
"Yes, Khushi knows that. Yet, she is not ready to come out of it and loves him madly."
"No. Khushi is not that stupid. I know my daughter. Her decision would always be right."
"Ok, talk to her. Then only you will get to know the truth. I want you to know the real state of her mind before you talk to her. That's why I told you about her."
Shashi became nervous about Dhruv's confidence. He could not believe what he said, yet his confidence shook him.
"Let me know your decision, uncle. I hope you will take care of your daughter's life instead of letting her make a stupid decision of being unmarried, thinking about someone who doesn't deserve her."
Dhruv was supposed to leave, but Shashi stopped him.
"One minute, Dhruv..."
He smirked and looked at Shashi.
"Who is the boy?"
"You know him very well. He masks his real identity well and roams in disguise as if he embodies the very essence of RESPONSIBILITY and is the epitome of excellence in all things."
Shashi shrank his eyes.
"Whom are you talking about?" Shashi asked, even though Arnav was the first one who came to mind.
"Arnav..."
"Whaaat? Does Khushi love Arnav?"
"Yes... But he doesn't. He is in love with his schoolmate, Anu. Khushi also knew it. Yet, she loves him because she cannot get rid of him. He brilliantly played his role without revealing his love for Anu, making her fall for him. He thinks Khushi doesn't know about his love. Khushi saw them together today and got upset."
Shashi was confused, tense and furious. He could not believe Arnav was such a guy. The more he knew about Arnav, the more he realised he was not a boy who spent time with girls. He lived a respectful life. He earned his own bread, which earned him tremendous respect from Shashi. He felt heartbroken, knowing he had played a cheap game with his daughter.
"I know it would be hard for you to believe. If you don't trust me, ask Khushi."
Shashi looked at him plainly.
"Bye, uncle..."
Dhruv left the place smirking, playing his cards.
Taking his phone, Shashi called Khushi. Obviously, she didn't attend the call because the phone was not with her. Shashi was vexed after making numerous calls. Leaving everything behind, he went to GH, thinking Khushi might be at home.
When he entered the home, he was taken aback to see Arnav waiting there with a girl. As per their plan, Arnav came to GH with Anu to meet Khushi. Of course, Dhruv knew it. Shashi didn't know how to react to Arnav as he saw him from a new perspective.
"Arnav..."
"Hello, uncle..."
"Where is Khushi?"
"She is not at home, uncle. She didn't attend my calls. So, I came to meet her. Just waiting to see her."
"Oh..." Shashi said, glancing at Anu.
"She is my friend Anu. My schoolmate..."
Shashi's blood boiled. How dare he bring her to GH? He walked to his room without saying anything. He so wanted to slap Arnav hard, but he didn't want to make any move in Khushi's absence. He wanted her to come, but he didn't know where the stupid girl had gone. He knew she must be upset. Of course, she must have been... if he was this upset with Arnav then, why wouldn't Khushi be?
Arnav looked at the watch, tensed. He didn't know what happened to Khushi. She had never been without attending his call. He had a last exam the next day. In Anu's tension, he didn't study well. He had to go home. Then only he could go through it, at least for once. He looked at Anu.
"Shall we go?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I don't know when she will come. I think she must be with her friends as she completed her exams. I have to prepare for tomorrow's exam."
Anu nodded.
"Ok, but I don't think I will meet her tomorrow as I have another program..."
Arnav nodded as he knew she was going to meet Victor's family the next day.
"However, we will invite her to the wedding..." Anu smiled.
"I don't want to delay meeting her. She should know about the wedding..." Arnav said thoughtfully, as he knew Khushi was upset with him in Anu's matter. She would become relaxed if she knew about Anu's wedding. He supposed.
Anu nodded yes, smiling brightly.
They didn't know Shashi was listening to their talk from his room. He verified that Dhruv's account of Arnav was accurate. He thought Arnav was going to marry the girl and had planned to invite Khushi to their wedding.
"Let's go..." Anu said.
"One minute, I will bid bye to Shashi uncle..."
He headed to Shashi's room and knocked on the door. Shashi opened the door with a rigid face.
"I'm leaving, Uncle. Please ask Khushi to call me."
Shashi was silent. Arnav left GH with Anu. Shashi saw them going on Arnav's bike. Shashi was upset like hell. He threw his phone on the bed irritably as Khushi didn't attend her call.
Finally, she came home in the evening. Shashi huffed in relief, seeing her. Khushi so wanted to hug him and tell him about Arnav. But before she did that, Shashi shouted at her, making her more upset.
"Where the hell were you? Why the hell didn't you attend my calls? Don't you have a sense that I will be tense?"
"I lost my phone..."
Shashi was stuck. Then said,
"So what? Can't you call me through your friend's phone and convey it to me?"
Khushi was silent. Yes, she should have done that. In Arnav's tension, her mind didn't work.
"I'm sorry, Dad..."
Shashi mellowed down.
"Why did you call me, Dad?"
"I want to talk to you about an important matter..."
"Tell me, Dad..."
"I have decided to fix your marriage."
"Whaaat?"
"Yes. I'm going to fix your marriage with Dhruv."
"Whaaat? Dhruv? Dad, have you gone mad?"
"Khushi... don't talk like this. I'm your father."
"But, this is my life..."
"Don't I have a right to decide what you want?"
"Dad, only I know what I want?"
"What do you want?"
"Nothing... I don't want anything. I want to be alone."
"What kind of decision is this?"
"Dad, I'm already tensed. Please don't eat my brain..."
"Am I eating your brain or, Arnav?"
Khushi was stuck. What did he mean?
"You don't have to look at me like this. I know what's on your mind. Understand that what you want will not happen."
Khushi's eyes tear up.
"He came here with his girlfriend, ANU..."
Khushi looked at him in shock.
"As you are not here, they decided to come later to invite you to their wedding."
Khushi was devastated hearing that. She fought with her tears.
"I can't allow you to spoil your life, Khushi. That's why I'm going to fix your wedding."
Khushi composed herself.
"Just because Arnav is getting married, I can't marry anyone, especially Dhruv..."
"Why? It's because he belonged to the same family?"
"Dad, try to understand. Please leave me alone. I'm not in the state of thinking about my wedding now."
"Then, when will you think? I wanted you to get married after completing your UG, but you preferred to study. I agreed to it. You have completed your master's now..."
"Dad, this is not about my studies but my state of mind. I'm not ready to marry anyone. I lost interest in marriage..." She choked.
Shashi straightened himself.
"I'm not going to fix your wedding tomorrow itself. Take your time, but you have to. No compromise. This time, you have to listen to me. I'm going to talk to Sudhakar tomorrow. That's final." Shashi left the place.
Khushi rushed to her room and cried her heart out. She threw things and messed up the room in anger. She got stuck when her sight fell on her PASSPORT.
To be continued...
