Part 24 It's me

Women in the Raizada mansion were shocked to see Dhruv's condition. His left cheekbone, right eye, and lip swell. His shirt was torn, his hand and leg were broken.

"What happened? What happened to my son?" Anjana shouted in shock.

"Somebody has beaten him up, aunty." One of his friends said.

"Who are they?" Anjali asked, with teary eyes.

"We don't know, di. He called us and we went to the place. Then only we knew his condition. We brought him here. Poor him..."

"Instead of taking him to the hospital, why did you guys bring him home? Don't you know he needs a first-aid?" Dadi asked.

"We wanted to do that only, but he wanted to come here because he was scared."

"Dhruv..." Anjana touched his hand.

"Ahhh..." Dhruv screamed and looked at Khushi to see if she felt bad for him. She stood looking at him with no expression on her face, which disappointed him.

"What?" Anjana asked.

"His hand is broken..."

"Oh, god..." she touched his leg, and he again shouted.

"His leg is also broken."

"Let's take him to the hospital..."

"No, Mom, ask the doctor to come here. Please call him..."

Anjana looked at Anjali. She nodded yes and dialled the doctor's number. He attended the call.

"Doctor, could you please come home?"

"What happened?"

"Somebody beat up Dhruv."

"Beaten up?"

"Yes, doctor... his leg and hand are broken..."

"Then you should bring him to the hospital. How could I treat him at home when the injuries are severe?"

"He is scared, Doctor. Can't you treat him here?"

"Won't you guys come to the hospital with him?"

"Of course, we will come."

"Then, be with him. simple. If he doesn't need to be admitted, you can take him home, but now, he should come to the hospital." The doctor said strictly.

"Ok, doctor..." she disconnected the call.

"Mom, the doctor asked me to bring him to the hospital."

"Go and bring my purse," Anjana said.

Anjali nodded and was supposed to go to Anjana's room, but stopped hearing.

"Where are you going?"

They saw Arnav heading toward them. He looked at Khushi, who turned her gaze somewhere.

Arnav looked at Dhruv.

"Who is he?" he asked.

All of them looked at him, perplexed.

"Don't you recognise Dhruv?" Anjana asked.

"Dhruv? What happened to you?" he asked, showing a shocking expression on his face.

"Somebody has beaten him up..."

"Who?"

"Don't know"

"How do they look alike?" Arnav asked.

"They were wearing a mask..." Dhruv said with effort.

"Could you identify them?" he asked, and Khushi looked at him weirdly. How could he identify those who were wearing a mask?

Dhruv nodded no.

"Where did you go? Where did they attack you?"

Dhruv was stuck. How could he tell them about the lonely bungalow? Arnav would catch the point with a small clue itself. He pretended he couldn't talk.

"His friends brought him here," Dadi said.

Arnav looked at them.

"From where did you bring him?" Arnav asked Dhruv's friend.

"It was a lonely bungalow..." A stupid person from the group blabbered.

Dhruv closed his eyes in annoyance, and Khushi looked at him, perplexed.

"Lonely bungalow? Why did you go to the lonely bungalow?"

"No, I didn't go there purposely. I ran there to save myself when they chased me. That was how I got trapped with them..."

"Did you file a report with the police?"

Dhruv was stuck. Police? What would happen if the police interfered in this matter? He became nervous thinking about the consequences.

"No... we didn't..."

"But why? Somebody beat you for no reason. How could you leave them? This is not to be left. We will have to find them. You don't worry. I will take care of this issue."

"No, no Arnav... please, don't do that."

"But why?"

"Please, leave it, Arnav."

"Somebody beat you up. Neither did you go to the hospital, nor did you file a case at the police station. What the hell are you doing, Dhruv? I can't understand why you are doing this!"

All of them looked at Dhruv with confusion.

Arnav looked at Dhruv's friends and asked,

"What kind of friends are you? Don't you know first-aid is a must for him?"

"We said, but Dhruv wanted to come home as he is scared..."

"Scared and Dhruv?" Arnav looked at Dhruv, wondering who bowed down. He understood he wanted to create a scene. That was why he came home instead of going to the hospital.

"The doctor asked us to bring him to the hospital," Anjali said.

"Mmm... take him immediately." He said and looked at Dhruv's friends.

"Take him carefully."

They lifted him carefully and took him. Anjana and Anjali followed them.

Arnav looked at Khushi and went to his room. he was supposed to close the door, but stepped back as Khushi pushed his room door and entered.

"Hi..." Arnav smiled.

"What happened to Dhruv? Who hit him?"

"Why are you asking me?"

"Because I suspect you must be behind this..."

"Why do you think so?" he smiled.

"Because you didn't feel bad for him. And, what about the lonely bungalow?"

"Khushi, you are asking the wrong person. I asked Dhruv the same question. Why would I ask him if I know about it?"

"You stressed him to file a case... that means, you know he would not file a case. Why? What made you think he would not file a case?"

"Wow... how beautifully you read my mind...! Without uttering a single word, you have connected the dots with no effort... well done, Khushi...!"

"Don't change the topic. What's happening here?"

"You will get to know everything clearly when the right time comes because you will not believe me if I say anything without evidence. Let it be. You have already waited two years without caring about anything. So, it will not be hard for you to wait for a few more days..."

"So, it's you who beat Dhruv...!"

He folded his hands and said,

"Yes..."

Khushi looked at him shockingly, widening her eyes.

"But why? Why are you doing this?"

He stood without answering.

"You have gone mad..." she said angrily and turned to leave, but Arnav held her upper hand and pulled her towards him.

"Yes, I beat him because I have a strong doubt that he is the reason for you to leave me..."

Khushi read his eyes where fury was blazing.

"You doubt? You hit him black and blue just because you have a doubt...?"

"Yes... I hit him black and blue because I doubt... if I had confirmed it's him, I would have killed him," he said wrathfully.

"Why are you behaving like a beast?"

"It's you who turned me into a beast. Only I know how I suffered not seeing you, Khushi. I didn't know where you were or why you left me. I realised you were angry with me, but I didn't understand why. I lived in fear because I was unsure if you would return. How could you leave me with no regret? How did you think I love Anu? Is this what you understood me?"

"Did you make me understand you? If you were an open book to me, why would I have thought so? You should have cleared everything up for me instead of keeping me in the dark. Still, you are doing the same. Where is my father?"

Arnav didn't answer.

"You are..." She gritted her teeth.

"I'm...?"

"I'm here only for my father..."

"You will be here... for me... forever... with me... you will have to..."

"What will you do if I deny marrying you?"

"You can't... I'm not that old Arnav who missed you once. It will not happen again. I've finalised our wedding plans for next week. Be ready..."

Khushi looked at him, stunned.

"Did you fix our marriage? How could you do that without my acceptance?"

"You have already declared your decision to marry me. So, there is nothing more to ask for your acceptance."

"What will you do if I torture you after the marriage?" She asked angrily.

Arnav chuckled softly.

"Yeah... you can torture me... sweet torture..."

"Only in our dream..."

"You will do it for real for sure..." he tapped her nose, smilingly.

She looked somewhere.

"I'm glad that you started talking about the happenstance of after our marriage..."

She glared at him.

"Why are you glaring at me...? Didn't you say you would torture me after our wedding? What does that mean? You are mentally prepared for our wedding..."

Khushi was stunned.

"No... I didn't mean it..."

"Then, what did you mean? Don't cheat on yourself, Khushi. Your mind is talking arrogantly, but your heart yearns to be with me."

"Not at all..."

"The day you embrace me is not so far... it will happen soon..."

Khushi pushed him and walked out.

To be continued...
