Part 32 Triggered Ego

Khushi disconnected the call furiously. How dare this Dhruv be! How could he try to fill her ear with bad things about her father? What did he think of her? Did he think she would trust anything he said? Why would her father kidnap her? Wouldn't he come in front of her if he wanted her to do what he wanted? Didn't she know her father? His father was not the kind of person who would do things in secret, like a coward. He would do anything daringly. That was how he stood against her love for Arnav that day, when he found out about it. She didn't even want to think of him like that.

Arnav, who heard her talk with Dhruv, also became furious. What did he want? Why was he filling Khushi's mind with venom about her father? Didn't he have sense? How would Khushi trust him if he accused her father? He was about to go to the canteen to bring milk to Khushi, but stopped when he heard her phone ring. Was that Dhruv again? He again sharpened his ears.

Yes, it was indeed Dhruv's call. He could not give up easily. He could not be quiet after she angrily disconnected the call. Khushi saw his name and was annoyed. She gritted her teeth and attended the call, making herself up to shout at Dhruv. She attended the call. Before Dhruv said anything,

"Don't you dare talk about my father again. I don't know what I will do. What do you think of me, haan? Do you think I will believe whatever you say? This is how you made me trust your words about Arnav, that day? Don't you dare talk to me. I'm not that old, Khushi, to listen to your nonsense. Is that clear?" She disconnected the call, leaving him no chance to talk.

She panted hard and kept the phone on the bed with a thud.

"Idiot..." she murmured.

Arnav was awestruck by her talk. He wondered. Khushi didn't trust Dhruv's words. After all, he touched the wrong nerve by talking badly about her father. Dhruv would not have expected her outburst. He himself dug his grave, it seemed. He went to the canteen to get milk for Khushi, even though he knew she had asked for milk only so he could be sent from the room to talk to Dhruv.

Arnav bought milk and gave it to Khushi. She took it from him as she didn't want him to doubt her. She drank it silently. Arnav observed her, who looked still angry. She kept the glass down. He sat on the attendant's bed next to Khushi's bed. Khushi lay on the bed, wrapped in a bedsheet.

Arnav also lay smilingly.

On the other side, Dhruv was highly disappointed and also furious. Khushi didn't trust him. She was not even ready to listen to him, so how would she trust him? Did he do wrong by bringing Shashi into the kidnapping scenario? Yes, he had made a blunder by doing that. He should not have done that. He didn't want her to doubt that he was the one who tried to kidnap her. So, he tried to divert her mind. That was why he tried to bring Shashi into that matter, but it backfired. Khushi became angry with him. She had cut the call after shouting at him. Don't know if she would trust him again. He was nervous. What if she didn't give him a chance again? He had to act fast. There were only a few days for their wedding. If she didn't listen to him, how could he make her back off from the wedding? He fell into deep thought.

The next morning

Arnav woke up earlier and waited for Khushi. She was sleeping deeply. She didn't feel pain as her wounds were not so deep.

She opened her eyes from sleep and saw Arnav looking at her. She widened her eyes and sat on the bed, jerking.

"Ssss..." she hissed as she pressed her wounded palm on the bed when she sat.

"Careful..." Arnav said.

Khushi looked at her palm, hissing. Arnav held her palm and blew on it. Khushi looked at him, dumbfounded. She pulled her hand from his clutch.

"How are you feeling now? Is it hurting?"

"It's better now."

"The doctor will discharge you only after 10 o'clock. What would you like to eat?"

"No bread..."

"Mmm, I will get you something," he said.

She nodded yes and got down from the bed. She went to the washroom to wash her face. Arnav went to the canteen and got aloo paratha for both of them. Khushi waited for him, getting fresh.

He gave her aloo paratha with raitha, and he ate it too.

That was when the inspector came to meet them.

"Good morning, sir."

"Good morning. How is she?"

Arnav looked at Khushi.

"She is better now, sir."

"Do you have any idea about them?" the inspector asked Khushi.

She nodded no.

"I checked the car number given by you, but it's fake." He said.

Arnav didn't wonder. He expected that. However, the kidnappers would not have used the true number. They would have changed it before using the vehicle to kidnap her.

"Did you get anything about who beat Dhruv?" Arnav asked, and Khushi looked at him with wide-open eyes.

It was he who beat Dhruv and inquired about it to the inspector! How dare he! Arnav looked at her from the corner of her eye and controlled his smile.

"Yes, we did. He said he ran into the bungalow to save himself, but no one in the area saw him running into the bungalow."

"Is it?"

"Yes, the bungalow was not empty, but two men stayed there."

"Do you know who they are?"

"No... but they said they could identify them."

"I see..."

"Everything Dhruv said conflicts. We have doubts about him," the inspector said.

Khushi was shocked, and Arnav smirked.

"So, we will find who stayed in the bungalow and why Dhruv went there."

"Thank you, inspector. Please find who kidnapped Khushi."

"Sure..."

The inspector left. Khushi waited for them to leave.

"It was you who beat Dhruv, and like a good man, you were inquiring about him... how dare you!"

Arnav controlled his smile.

"Was that me who interrogated about Dhruv in that area? It was the inspector, and he said Dhruv's statement conflicted. If Dhruv was not at fault, why is everything against him?"

"You might have created like that because you would do it for sure."

"Yes, I will do it...because I'm not that old Arnav who let everything close to my heart slip from my hands. Not anymore. Dhruv should pay back for what he did. I'm not going to leave him this time." His face reddened when he said that.

Khushi gazed at him without blinking.

"And, I bet... Dhruv will try to stop our marriage directly or indirectly by using someone. Mark my word."

Khushi could not deny it because Dhruv would surely do that.

"And, you might also try to stop it from going on his words because you trust him more than anyone. Don't you?"

"I don't trust him..." She said, looking somewhere.

Arnav chuckled.

"What's so funny?"

"Don't I know you? You never made a good decision. Your decisions always led us into trouble. You and I are standing alone is the example..."

"I said I don't trust him..."

"Whom will you trust?"

"I don't trust anyone but me. I will trust myself."

"Oh, really? If you trust yourself, if you are confident about yourself, could you marry me as we planned...?" he intentionally touched her EGO.

Khushi was stuck.

"However, we will get married in three days. Dhruv will give his best to stop it, too. What will you do about it?"

"What do you want me to do to prove that I can make a decision on my own?"

"You should think about it. because it's about YOUR DECISION. How could I say anything?"

"What do you think about me?"

"What else? You will back off if anyone washes your brain. It's easy for anyone to manipulate you."

Khushi glared at him as he triggered her ego.

"Stop glaring at me and get ready. We have to go to RM."

Arnav stood up and walked.

"I'm ready to marry you today itself. Will you?" She asked firmly, making Arnav stun.

To be continued...
