Epilogue
Epilogue
One year later
Arnav was holding Khushi's head, who was throwing up. It was her morning sickness. She started vomiting in the fourth month. She leaned on his shoulder, exhausted. Arnav picked her up in his arms and brought her to the bed, carefully. He caressed her hair.
"I would not have thought of having a baby if I had known this phase would be this hard..." He said feeling sad.
She smiled.
"This is all common at this stage... All the women would have to cross this phase to have a child."
"I don't like this..."
"We will forget all the hardship after the child's birth."
"No... I will never forget this."
"Ok, don't be emotional..."
Arnav kissed her forehead.
"Your stomach became empty. Come and eat something. You will be hungry..."
"Mmm..."
"Come..."
He brought her to the dining room.
"Where is Uncle?" Arnav asked Ramu kaka.
"He is in his room."
"When did he come last night?"
"At 11o' clock..."
"Mm..."
Arnav looked at Khushi and asked,
"Where did he go? Did he tell you about it?"
Khushi shrugged her shoulders.
They saw Shashi coming to the dining room. Arnav smiled at him, who was looking fresh and brisk.
"Good morning, Uncle..."
"Good morning Arnav..."
Arnav raised his brows when Shashi forwarded a brown cover and a key.
"Check it," Shashi said, and he sat in the chair.
Arnav took it from him and gave it a look. He rolled his eyes.
"What's this, uncle? What's necessary for this?" He asked wearily.
"You are my son-in-law..."
"I'm your son-in-law, but it doesn't mean you should do this."
"I have to... If you are not there, my daughter and I would not have been what we are today."
"Uncle, I did everything to prove myself. It's pure selfishness."
"Your selfishness saved my daughter from a rogue. It treated my coma. I'm walking healthily today. This would not be possible without you. And what am I going to do with my property? Khushi is my only daughter. She is the sole heir of my property. So, giving it to her is not a big deal."
Shashi looked at Khushi.
"Ask him to take it, beta. It's yours..."
"But, you didn't give it to me, but to him..." She said teasingly.
"I know you will seek your husband's permission. That's why I deal directly with him. In fact, I can handle Arnav but you." He smiled.
"Then why did you expect me to help you?"
"What to do? I have no one other than you..."
"Isn't it a smart answer, Arnav?" Khushi smiled, looking at Arnav.
Shashi laughed.
"It's not necessary, uncle," Arnav said.
"Why, Arnav? You can invest them in the stock markets. If you don't want to use it now, no problem. Invest in long-term shares. Make GH your office. Establish your business."
Arnav tried to say something but he stopped as Shashi continued.
"I know you have already established your business. Don't draw a circle around you and limit your boundary. Expand it. Let me be a part of it." Shashi requested.
Arnav looked at Khushi. She extended her hand and took the cover and key from Shashi.
"Khushi..." Arnav tried to say something.
Khushi stopped him.
"Let him be happy and satisfied, Arnav,"
"She is right, Arnav. We don't know what happens next minute. Everything may change in a few minutes. Life doesn't need much time to make our lives upside down. That's why I want to do it now, when I'm fit and fine. I will be peaceful if you take it. Please accept it, Arnav,"
Arnav sighed.
"See, I'm staying with my son-in-law, having no issues. Then why do you? I will leave your house if you don't accept this."
"Uncle, stop emotional blackmailing me like a kid..." Arnav said and Khushi controlled her laughter.
"Dad, relax. I took it. Then why do you worry?" Khushi said and blinked her eyes.
Shashi started eating, smiling. After that, they were silent. After breakfast, they came to their room.
"Why did you accept it, Khushi? Do you think I expect this?" Arnav asked disappointedly.
"Stop talking rubbish, Arnav. You know I don't think like that. I don't want to disappoint my Dad... I can't..."
"What about me? Would you disappoint me?"
"Why do you disappoint? Accept the reality. I'm the only daughter of my father. Then, what's wrong with accepting his property? However, one day it will reach me... It's my right, Arnav. Why shouldn't I accept it?"
"I don't think it's necessary."
"Ok... Leave it if you don't want to. I know what to do."
Arnav sighed.
Khushi made him sit on the bed and she took a seat next to him.
"Arnav, you don't have to think unwanted. No one will think of you wrong."
"I don't care about anyone but uncle..."
"He himself gave you his property. You didn't demand it, Arnav..."
"He gave me you. What else do I need more?"
"You need nothing more than me... You don't have to prove it to anyone. You have already started earning well and increased your profit rate. So, don't confuse yourself..."
"I heard Chachi is telling people that I married you only for your father's property." He said in a low tone.
"Who is she to talk about you? She is unworthy to raise a finger at you. She is the woman who didn't raise a good son. What right does she have to taunt you? Would she have told the same if his son had married me? She is jealous of you. She couldn't tolerate us living happily. Just ignore her. Dad and I know you. You no need to bother about her."
"How could I not be bothered, when it's about you? Khushi, you knew well how I tried to prove myself to you. I don't want you to even think of me differently for even a minute..."
"How could you think I would think differently about you? Is this what your understanding? I think you are still thinking that I'm the same Khushi..." She asked painfully.
"Shhh... What are you telling?" He chided.
"Then what? Why are you confusing and troubling yourself? Didn't you ask me not to think about our past?"
"Now also I'm telling you the same..."
"Then, you too don't think about anything, especially about your Chachi..."
Arnav sighed.
"Ok, don't use my father's money. Our children will use it."
"Khushi, I can earn for our children too. "
"You will get beaten up for sure. You don't want it and won't let our children also use it. " she huffed.
Arnav smiled looking down.
"Go and see, how people are obsessed with money. "
"I'm not obsessed with money but with you. Nothing can make me obsessed. Understand that."
"Why are you so obsessed with me?" She changed the topic.
"You can understand that only if you have MY heart. Only my heart knows your value."
She leaned on his shoulder, circling his bicep, smilingly. Arnav wrapped her in his arms and kissed her forehead. Khushi knew what he said was true. Only Arnav's heart could understand the reason. She felt blissful to have such a husband who had an immutable love for her. She had seen many people who changed after the marriage, after getting what they wanted. But, Arnav was not in such a category. His love was a noble one. Though he always said he was obsessed with Khushi, his obsession never harmed her but only celebrated her. His obsession was a healthy one. Khushi was right. She was lucky to have such a husband who had immutable live on her.
