Part 32 Unpredicted
Arnav was thinking about Vishvesh Sharma. He would attack Khushi anytime. He should be alert all the time. He decided on some things in his mind and shared them with Bheem too. He readily agreed to do what Arnav wanted.
He called Arvind. He attended the call in the third ring.
"Hello..."
"Papa, how are you?"
"Great going..."
"Where are you now?"
"I'm in the Rudhraprayag now..."
"Oh..."
"You are ready to get married. That's why I'm thanking the almighty for giving me a good-hearted Bahu,"
"She is not only a good-hearted girl but also a multimillionaire you could not even imagine,"
"Multimillionaire? What are you saying?"
"Yes, Papa... she is the owner of the thousand crore worth property..."
"My goodness... did she tell you?"
"Yes..."
"Do you think her so rich parents will accept you as their son-in-law?"
"They could do nothing in this because they are no more..."
"Oh, God... is it?"
"Mmm..."
Arnav told Khushi's story to Arvind.
"I can't believe this. Could anyone be so arrogant?"
"People would become not only arrogant but also heartless when it comes to money," Arnav said.
"You are right. Thank God, Khushi found you. keep her safe. Do anything to save her. That heartless man should not succeed in his plan of getting her married to his good-for-nothing son."
"I will take care of her, Papa."
"Call me if you want any help."
"Sure, Papa..."
"Bye..."
They disconnected the call.
The next day
Khushi got ready for college eagerly. She wanted to get a wish from Arnav because it was her birthday. She wore a new dress to surprise Arnav. She didn't tell him about her birthday in prior because she wanted to see what he would do.
"Wish you a very happy birthday, Madam," Maria wished her.
"Thank you, Maria..."
"You will get whatever you want in this year..."
Khushi smiled, understanding the meaning of her wish.
"Many more happy returns of the day..." Bheem came there and gave her a bouquet. She took it smilingly.
"Thank you, Bheem Bhaiya..."
That was when she received a call from Arnav. She became excited and attended the call to find out why he had called her.
"Hi, Arnie..."
"Haan, Khushi, Aman called me. He got the visa, and all the formalities are over. So, he is leaving India tonight. I'm going to Delhi to send him off. So, I won't come to college today." He said in a go.
"Are you going to Delhi?" she asked, her voice laced with disappointment.
"Yeah, I don't know when Aman and Lavanya will come again to India. So, I'm going. I already submitted my leave application, too. Will meet you tomorrow. Ok, bye..."
"Mmm... bye..." she said in a low tone.
Arnav disconnected the call. Khushi looked at them with disappointment.
"What happened, Madam? Is everything all right?"
"Arnav is going to Delhi to send his friends off today."
"Today? Didn't you tell him today is your birthday?"
"How could I tell him about my birthday? Am I a kid or what?"
"Would not you have told him today, if he had not gone to Delhi?"
"I would have... to get his wishes..."
"It's not late... tell him it's your birthday..."
Cutting her,
"No... he is going to send his friends off. He will feel embarrassed if he finds out it's my birthday. Let him go. We can celebrate my birthday tomorrow too. but he could not send his friend off tomorrow. Don't embarrass him." She left the house for college, despite her upset mood.
She felt bored in her class. It was Arnav's period. She received another call from him. She attended it hurriedly.
"Arnie, have you started?"
"In the Airport..."
"Oh..."
"Khushi, I'm going to board a flight. My phone will be on flight mode. I will call you after reaching Delhi. Ok?"
"Ok... convey my regard to Aman and Lavanya."
"Sure, I think they will call you before leaving India."
"Ok..."
"Bye,"
"Bye..."
Arnav disconnected the call.
Khushi looked at her phone wearily. Why didn't Aman and Lavanya call her? They might have been busy with the arrangements, she supposed.
She didn't even tell anyone that it was her birthday. She didn't feel like telling that. She was planning to have dinner with Arnav. Everything had collapsed. So, she didn't have a mood.
Evening
She returned home to find her house locked. Taking a spare key, she opened the lock and pushed the door. She got stuck, watching as the living room was being decorated. She sighed. She knew Maria and Bheem had done that. She entered the house, closing the door behind her. Her eyes widened as she saw Arnav standing with a smile on his lips and a bouquet in his hand. She squinted her eyes and looked at him with disbelief.
"Only you can surprise me on my birthday?" He asked smilingly.
She dropped her bag from her shoulder and hopped onto him. He circled her in his arms, smilingly.
"Happy Birthday..." he wished.
"Do you know how I longed to hear this from you?"
He blinked his eyes.
"I know. That's why I'm here..."
"Thank you so much..."
"Come on, wear this..." he handed her a box.
She opened it and saw a red saree in that.
"Saree?" she became delighted.
"Yeah, with a stitched blouse..." He smiled.
"But how did you get my measurement?"
"Maria helped me..."
"Is it all your plan?"
He nodded yes.
"How do you know it's my birthday?"
"Bheem told me,"
"Where are they?"
"Bheem, Maria..." Arnav called them.
They came from the next room smilingly.
"So, knowing his plan, only you guys pretended like that in the morning?"
"It's Arnav's sir's request. How could we disappoint him?" Bheem asked.
"And, when it was about making you surprise, we will obey him..." Maria said.
"Mmm... so, you guys are together..."
"for you..." Both of them said.
"Stop inquiring about them and change your dress... go..." Arnav said.
Khushi went to her room and got fresh. She wore the saree and came out. Arnav looked at her and stood like a bewitched person. He forgot himself, seeing her in a saree for the first time.
"Arnav sir's selection is wonderful. You look so pretty in this saree. Am I right, sir?" Maria said, looking at Arnav, who was lost in Khushi.
"Sir..." Maria called him, but he didn't hear it.
"Sir..." she slightly touched his knuckle.
"Haan?" he looked at Maria, who suppressed her smile.
Bheem looked somewhere, smiling. Arnav composed himself and said,
"Let's cut the cake..."
Khushi cut the cake and fed it to Arnav first. He had a little and took the remaining cake from her hand; he fed it to her.
"Why did you bunk the class? You could have come here with me straight from the college..." Khushi said.
"If I do so, how could I cook for you?" he asked.
"Did you cook for me?" She asked, surprisingly.
"I have done that for you before, too..."
She nodded.
"Let's have dinner..."
She nodded.
"You too join us." He called Maria and Bheem, but they denied.
"We will have later..." They rushed out of the place, not giving him a chance to compel them.
Arnav sighed. Khushi smiled. He served her favourite mushroom fried rice and paneer masala. Khushi silently had that without saying anything.
"Don't you like it?" He asked.
"This is the best dinner I have ever had..." she said, trying not to show how emotional she was.
"Relax..."
"I thought I should wait for one more year to get your wish..." She smiled with teary eyes.
"How do you think Maria and Bheem would forget to tell me about your Birthday?"
"What would they do when you have a schedule of meeting your friends who leave India?"
"Won't they talk to you before they leave India? Do you think they will leave India without talking to you?"
"I thought they were busy with the arrangements."
"They would not be that busy not to have two minutes to talk to you..."
"Mmm..."
"By the way, this saree looks good on you..."
"Is that saree or me?" she raised her brows.
Arnav smiled without answering. That was when Khushi's phone rang. She smiled seeing the caller. It was Arvind. Arnav smiled seeing that.
"Hello, uncle..."
"I wish you a very happy birthday..."
"Thank you, uncle..."
"What's special today?"
"Your son is with me. that's the special about this day," she smiled.
Arnav rolled his eyes.
"How was his surprise?"
"I'm speechless..."
"You know what, I too went speechless when he told me about his surprise..." he laughed.
"Thank you so much, uncle..."
"Welcome. Enjoy the day..."
"Yes, uncle..."
"Bye..."
"Bye, uncle..."
She disconnected the call.
"When is Aman going abroad?"
"The process is going on... soon, he will leave India, I suppose..."
"Shall I come with you to send them off?"
"No, it will not be safe because we should go to Delhi to send them off. If any of Vishvesh Sharma's men see you, it will lead us into trouble."
Khushi nodded yes. They had dinner, and Arnav got ready to leave.
"I'm leaving..." He said.
Khushi extended her hand towards him. He clutched it, smiling.
"Thank you for everything," She said, slightly pressing his hand.
"You are welcome... and once again happy birthday," he said.
She smiled, and Arnav left. Khushi went to her room and looked at herself in the mirror. How blissful this day was! How fed up she was in the morning! Arnav made it upside down with his warm and pleasant surprise. She fell on the bed smilingly. She didn't know Arnav would be so supportive towards her. She thought he would be rigid even after their marriage. What else did she need if he was with her? Even thousands of Vishvesh Sharma could do nothing with her. She thought proudly.
The next day
Khushi was rolling on the bed lazily as it was the second Saturday. She sat on the bed and stretched her hands. She finished her routine without urgency and came to the dining table. Maria kept her breakfast ready on the table and waited for her.
"Good Morning, Madam,"
"Good morning, Maria..."
"It seems you didn't get sleep last night in happiness?" Maria asked smilingly.
Khushi smiled.
"You woke up late, unusually..."
"Today is a holiday. That's why I didn't have the mood to wake up,"
"I'm so happy about you and Arnav, sir..."
Khushi's smile broadened.
"Do you know how interestingly he made all the arrangements? Though we helped him, he took our help only if needed. He didn't even let me enter the kitchen; instead, he cooked alone. I and Bheem liked him so much. We were so worried about you when Vishvesh Sharma chased you. We felt helpless when Arnav sir didn't accept you. Now we are relieved and satisfied. He will take care of you, no matter what...!"
Khushi nodded yes.
"This is why I wanted him in my life, Maria. You didn't see him fighting with Vishvesh Sharma's men in Nainital. He made them blood vomiting..." She chuckled.
"He is a selfless man..." Khushi added.
"But, you guys will be careful. I don't know what Vishvesh will do if he gets to know about your relationship..."
"Let him do anything, his dream will never come true..."
That was when they heard the screeching sound of cars. They looked at each other.
"What sound is it?" Khushi asked, frowning.
"You eat. I will see..." Maria said and went to open the door.
When she opened the door, someone pushed her with full force. Maria fell onto the ground, shouting.
"Hey, who the hell are you?" Khushi stood up angrily. Her facial expression turned horrible as she saw the same goons rushing inside. She stood motionless.
Vishvesh entered the house following them.
"Madam, they came..." Maria said nervously.
Khushi was horrified. She didn't expect Vishvesh Sharma would reach her so soon. Vishvesh Sharma smirked at her dangerously.
To be continued...
