Lost in Ocean

Chapter 6: Flashback (part 2)

ScytheSkyler

Follow Lucius around the school, Allium began to familiarize herself with the scenery around. Lucius has been a helpful one to be honest, not like she's ever going to tell him that anyway.

"So lastly is the cafeteria right here. It may look a bit small but the food is delicious." Lucius commented as he glanced over Allium "That probably useless for you because if I remember correctly, aunt Iris always make you lunch box fill with her amazing food."

"Of course. Why bother wasting money on unqualified food when you have someone to make you scrumptious delicacies everyday?" Allium smirked "Not to mention that someone is a chef. But I do not prefer sitting with other people much. It's really claustrophobic."

"Then do you want to join me for a lunch under the oak tree?" Lucius smirked back "I do want to have a taste of Iris's food. It's been a while since I come over your place for a proper meal"

"Turned out you asked me to dine with you because of Iris's food? I'm a bit disappointed." Allium glowered as she pouted "But no one can resist her food. It's sure is the best. And may I remind you that you're just lucky to eat her food that one time you flew to Paris on a vacation with your parents."

"Heh, it's true. But I do miss seeing your pouty baby face, darling." Lucius cooed "So that's a yes or a no?"

"Fine. Pick me after class ended. And don't be late, sir Blackwood." Allium pinched Lucius cheek

"Ouch, ouch! Of course my lady!" Lucius rubbed his cheek as they stopped in front of a classroom "Here's your classroom. You have the schedule already, am I correct? Well then, I hope you'll have a wonderful day, lady Paddington."

Something in the sentences struck Allium in the center. A strained tension as Allium's face darkened at the word. It rang inside her head as she felt the atmosphere tried to strangle her, leave her breathless.

"Don't. Don't ever mention that name in front of me. I'm no longer that girl. I'm Allium Deslausriers. I'm a Deslausriers and I will always be." A monotone voice whispered as a dead gaze pierced through Lucius

Lucius has been known for cruel jokes. But there's something hinting in Allium's voice that got him slightly shivered. He only heard about this last name once through Mrs. Iris, but never thought to receive such reaction. But it's better to retreat than to jump into the war and end up with nothing, he decided to apologize.

"I apologize for mentioning. I didn't know that it was a sensitive topic to you." Lucius bowed down a bit

"It's okay. I'm going inside now. See you later." Allium turned away as she entered, leaving Lucius alone.

'Guess I really have to make up for her later then' Lucius thought, striding back to class.

Back to Allium, a chattering classroom as people meeting each other, introducing and befriending. She struggled to find an empty seat, it's hard alright. Luckily there's one next to a sleeping girl. Allium really didn't have the heart to wake her. She's not one to unnecessarily disturb other. But all the chattering drifted off, she felt lonely and remembered vividly of the expression of the lonesome male sitting on the sand. Grimaced. But the moment he received that locket, his face just lit up, like a child. Allium smiled as she reminisced the memory about this morning.

*Flashback to this morning*

Allium's alarm went off but she has already got up. Finished her daily routines, she thought a jog would excited her mind up. So up with her workout clothes and headphones plugged to her phone and she was out the door running.

It was an hour since she left, she realized that she was nowhere near her house. Of course it was easy for her to get lost, despite being in new places.

'Damn it! I can't locate where I am now. Maybe I can trail back where I've run pass. Luckily, I have a good memory' Allium mumbled

Strolling along the pavement, she heard a familiar female voice.

"Oh Lord, Jonathan. You're a grown up now, don't Rosie this, Rosie that. I'm not dad." A displeased feeling can be detected in her voice

'Jonathan? Wait, isn't that his sister or something? I vaguely remembered her name was Rose? It's the same face so it can't be wrong' Allium puzzled and was about to turn back to ask the lady but she's already gone inside the house.

'This may be the only chance God has given me to give him back the necklace. It's fate!' Allium smiled and turned the doorknob to enter.

She noticed the house is a bit small. With the dining room here and living room here then his room must be upstairs. Glancing around, Allium saw Rose washing the dishes and using her cellphone.

"Hello? Are you answering this Johnny?"

Allium heard something grumbled upstairs. She followed the voice as it coming from the silver wooden door. Taking off the locket, she took a deep breath, nervous filled her as she hesitantly knocked on the door. Angry stomps following a furious tone can be heard when the door opened.

" I'm awake already. Give me a break, will you" A face scowled her as she felt tears built up in her eyes.

Now don't get her wrong, she's no sheep and don't easily get bullied. It's just that moment she felt like she has fallen into that ocean again when she saw his eyes. The blue sparkled, like a pair of sapphire. But she snapped out of her daze as she hastily pressed the locket into his palm then run away. And she didn't forget to tell him.

"Ah, désolé. Je ne voulais pas être impoli! Je voulais seulement retourner le médaillon vous avez oublié à la mer ! "

"Hey, attend une seconde." Jonathan called her

Allium ran away, not wanting to hear his complaint. After all, she had school to attend so she couldn't afford to be late. She ran until she saw the sea foam green house. Rushed upstairs, she barely caught up to her heartbeat let alone her mind. Then it hit her.

'Did I just speak French?!? Oh Lord, I'm so embarrassed!'

Her face went beet red. Sweat covered her, hair stuck to her face. She slid down the door. She realized that she has just spoken French to a stranger. In America. It's one of her habit that when she became nervous, she would speak in the most comfortable language, which in this case as we knew, French.

'But didn't he also replied something in French?' Allium dug in her brain as she recalled

"Hey, attend une seconde!"

She's surprised. Not many people learned French. It's America for god's sake. But his eyes, they were really beautiful...

"Allium honey! Are you awake yet? You need to prepare to go to school! It's almost seven" Iris's voice rang from downstairs

"I'm awake, Auntie. I'll be right with you" Allium yelled back in reply

"Okay, come down for breakfast"

Allium leaned against the door, looking down the floor.

'I wish I could see those sapphire again. It's like being lost in ocean'

*End Flashback*

Someone is shaking Allium. She woke up from her daze as she saw the face of the person who shook her. It's the sleeping girl. Her gold eye gazed down upon Allium. Allium noticed her bleached hair covered her left eye.

"Um... The teacher came so I thought I should pull you out of dream world. Sorry if I messed up a good one." She gave Allium a dull look

"Did I miss anything important?" Allium cursed herself for not focusing in class

"Not much. It's just pre-talk about school and things like name. If you care, the name of our homeroom teacher is Alexander. He teaches Literature." The girl shrugged "I think he's Russian or something. His last name was really hard to pronounce"

"Oh, okay. Thank you." Allium felt relief "Oh, I haven't catch your name"

"It's Jade, Jade Hawkins. And you are?" She smiled and gave out a hand

"I'm Allium Deslausriers" Allium took it happily. She finally made a new friend.

"You're nervous? Relax, I'm not going to bite. Unless you're a freshly made donut though." Jade laughed

"Well, a bit. I've just moved here a few days ago. I still haven't got used to everything yet. But I wondered, don't we have to study on first day?" Allium puzzled

"Nah, we'll get to know each other and teachers, first lesson here – integration." Jade glanced "And if you're having a hard time fitting in, then you can stick with me. I know the way around here."

"Really!?! Thank you very much! I hope we'll become good friends!" Allium lightened up.

That moment, Allium felt like her new life here might not be as bad as she thought it would be. But as far as she knew, there're many things await her ahead.

"It's gotta be here. I'm really annoyed right now. Maybe it's just around that corner" Louis frowned as she dragged Jules along, who doesn't seem to be well by the look on her face.

"Slow down Louis. If there were patrol polices inside our school, they would probably arrest you for speeding" Jules joked "Are you sure it's that way?"

"I'm sure, honey. By the way, you're paler than before. Are ya alright?" Louis turned back as she slowed down

"I'm just f-fine. Don't wor-" Barely finished her own sentence, Jules collapsed on the floor as all the color drained from her face. She felt the cold floor against her skin, seeing the terrified expression on Louis's face right before her eye lids closed shut and her consciousness slipped away.

(About 10 minutes later)

Jules slowly blinked, blinded by the bright light. By the soft texture beneath her, she guessed she's in an infirmary. She felt nauseous, her head ached as she tried to sit up.

"Take it easy, kid. I suggest laying on the bed rather than trying to sit up again." A modulated voice spoke up as the curtains being pulled to both sides "Anemia huh? Kid these days with their unhealthy routines..."

A male in his late twenties appeared behind the curtains. He has light brown irises, chiseled face, pale skin and slim outlook. He wears white lab coat over a soft blue dress shirt and a black neck tie along with slate grey dress pants and black shoes. But his pulled back hair is in peach color, a color that she has never seen before on a human hair.

"Staring at someone else will make them uncomfortable, you know. By the way you look, it's must be my hair. For your information, it's natural" He handed her a cup of water with a capsule "Here, drink this. It'll prevent you from headache and fainting. I recommend eating something because it seems like you fainted due to malnutrition than anemia. You can stay here and rest for a while."

"Th-thank you. Do you know where my friend is?" Jules asked, hoping Louis didn't left her here all by herself.

"She's just returned, looking for the school schedule, I recalled. Let me notify her that you've awakened." He stopped midway before looking back at Jules smirking "And purple irises? It's rare to see a person with Alexandria's genesis syndrome nowadays."

Not waiting for her reply, he left. The minute he left, Louis rushed in lightning speed with a bag dangling in her hand. Her worried face melted Jules's heart when she asked her about her condition.

"Are ya okay? You scared me half to death dear." She frowned as she touched Jules's forehead

"I'm alright. Thanks for bringing me here, Louis." Jules smiled, her stomach growls didn't go unnoticed

"Ya hungry girl? I bought something for ya since the doctor told me ya lacked of nutrition." She pulled out two sandwiches and a milk carton "Here, eat something hun. And don't worry, I already got the schedule. We have the same schedule so if you're feeling better then we can go to class after you finish your breakfast."

"Thank you. You really don't have to buy me these, I could do it by myself." Jules pushed the sandwiches away "Wait, is it class time already? We should go then, don't let it because of me that we're late."

Jules was about to get out of bed but Louis wasn't going to let that happen. She pushed Jules back to bed and keep her there.

"We're not going to class unless you're better and well ate. Don't be stubborn, I bought these because I hoped they'll make you feel better, not out of pity." Louis gave her a stern look as she pressed those warm sandwiches into Jules's hands "We're friend, right darl?" Her emerald sparked up as she looked Jules in the eyes.

Jules was speechless. Merely befriended not about twenty minutes ago and Louis had already made her feel close, like friend for ages. She has never felt this much trust when she looked into a person's eyes. It felt right. It felt like destiny. Louis is destined to become a good friend. And for once, Jules thought, maybe she should take this chance to gain a true friendship she has always dreamt of rather than pushing it away.

"Of course we are. I'm sorry for pushing away your concern." Jules smiled, but this time, it felt more sincere.

"Then prove it, eat my sandwiches then." Louis smiled, showed her bright teeth as she shoved the sandwiches to Jules.

"Alright, alright, I'll eat it" Jules opened the box and took a bite "But what about class?"

"Class won't start in an hour. It's been delayed by school's meeting and the principal required all presents" The doctor peeked through the curtain, leaned against one of the chairs. "I apologized but I couldn't help overhearing your conversation."

"Well, that's good now, isn't it Jules? Ya can relax and enjoy your breakfast with no worries." Louis spoke as she drooled over the doctor

"Thank you for letting us knew. And helping me, sir...?" Jules replied as she switched to the second sandwich

"I'm Iwasaki Yūgure. Just call me Iwasaki-san, it's friendly. Don't add 'sir' in it, it sounds old." Iwasaki chuckled "I'm only twenty four."

"Thank you Iwasaki-san. I'm surprised you're Japanese, you don't really look like one though, no offense" Jules answered

"He's young and good-looking too hun." Louis chirped

"Thank you, ladies. I do look foreign, don't I? I get that a lot." Iwasaki smirked "Do you feel better yet, Jules?"

"Much better thanks to the food. Thank you too Louis." Jules wiped her mouth with a tissue.

"No need, girl. Well then, we can head to class now if you're up to it. Iwasaki-san gave me the directions before so we should be good." Louis diverted her eyes to her friend.

"Sure." Jules got out of the bed and prepared to head out "Thank you again Iwasaki-san. Also, you said something about Alexandria's genesis syndrome. Can you tell me what is it?"

"Curious, isn't it? Well I can tell you if we come across again." Iwasaki-san smiled mysteriously "Now hush along with your friend. You don't want to be late now, do you?"

"Oh okay then. See you later then Iwasaki-san." Jules waved goodbye and closed the door before she ran along with Louis.

Walking in the hall, Louis and Jules chat while going to their class. They talked about their new class, new teacher and new classmates. Clearly they're excited about what behind the classroom door. The door that will lead them to a great high school life.
