48 The truth about Khushi
Part 48 The truth about Khushi
Khushi was suffocating between mother and son. They were taunting and teasing one another like friends. That was an unknown side of Arnav. Though Shashi told her many times about Arnav's nature this is the first time she witnessed it in front of her eyes.
On the other hand, Ratna was hoping inwardly in happiness, seeing her son fun-loving. This was what she wanted. This was how she wanted to see him. All cheerful and humorous...just like the old days. Though she tried to bring him out she didn't believe it to happen soon...that too to this extent.
No wonder the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law were wondered. How do they know Arnav was also waiting for the right time to express his feelings? He confessed his feelings when he got the chance without missing them.
They saw Arvind coming all tensed. The reason for his tension was Ratna told him everything that happened in RM over the phone. So, he rushed to RM. He stood, looking at them with confusion as they were smiling.
*Are you guys alright?* He asked.
*Yeah... I have solved the problem...* Ratna said proudly.
*You...? Really...?* Arnav asked.
*Then who solved it?* Ratna questioned him.
*It's me... you are a problem creator. You made my wife away from me... it was me, who brought her back to my room...* He argued.
Arvind raised his eyebrows getting amazed. Was Arnav talking about all this? He saw Khushi suppressing her smile.
*I created the problem to solve the problem. If I would not create the problem, you would have continued being DUMB...* she pulled his leg.
Arnav was about to say something,
*Wait... hold on...what's happening here? I came running, thinking something... But opposite to what is happening here...* Arvind asked.
All three smiled. He came to Arnav and hugged him emotionally.
*I'm so happy to see you in your real nature, Chotte...*
Arnav smiled touching his back.
*Thank your Bahu. She is the one who dragged the old Arnav from the damn shell of his past...* Ratna said.
Breaking the hug, Arvind touched Khushi's head thankfully. Khushi was awkward to even handling the situation. Arnav smiled at her contently.
They were in the living room together. Arvind couldn't believe his son's utter change. Khushi had special qualities in her. Thanks to Khushi... Thanks to Shashi for giving his daughter's hand to Arnav. He thanked inwardly... wholeheartedly...
Khushi was stealing Arnav's glance whereas Arnav was daringly looking at her without any damn hesitation. That made Khushi wonder because she didn't imagine this level of change in him. Who could expect the man who always looked calm would change wholly?
All of them had dinner chitchatting.
*Ratna, Manorama called me. She said you didn't attend her call.* Arvind said.
*I kept my phone in our room. What did she say?*
*She said, she is not coming today...*
* Then? *
*She will come after two days as Manohar's friend requested them to stay with his family for two more days.*
*oh...*
After having dinner, they got back to their particular rooms.
That was a new phase of their relationship. Both of them were suffocated a little.
Khushi lay down on the bed. She saw Arnav taking a pillow from the bed. He will go to the recliner, as usual, she supposed. But to her surprise, Arnav lay down on the other side of the bed. She looked at him and he smiled at her, lying on the bed facing her. Khushi smiled at him awkwardly. That was unexpected. She was choking to face him on the bed as Arnav was not moving his eyes from her face. She smiled at him again. Both of them didn't get sleeps for long. They looked at each other often without uttering a single word. After a while, Khushi dozed off. Arnav entwined his fingers with hers. How lucky he was to have such an understanding wife... he closed his eyes with satisfaction
A lot happened that day. Arnav and Khushi erased all the differences which were the hindrances between them.
The next day
Arnav came out of the washroom, getting fresh. He saw Khushi combing her hair, standing in front of the mirror. Khushi saw him through the mirror and smiled at him. Without smiling at her, he advanced her, making her smile wipe off. Her hand stopped combing. Coming close to her, he took the hair gel bottle from the dressing table. While taking that, he slightly touched Khushi's body with his. We can't say it was not intentional. Khushi gulped hard and looked at him who was searching for something in the hair gel bottle.
*Checking the expiry date...* he said casually.
Khushi smiled at him awkwardly.
*Khushi...*
*Haannnn? *
*Why won't you be brisk like before? * He asked the unexpected question.
Khushi parted her lips not understanding what to answer.
*You became calm after the day you fainted in the washroom* he said huskily and saw Khushi's eyes widening with shock.
That was when Arnav's phone rang. Taking his phone, Arnav checked it. The call was from an unknown number. Khushi rushed out of the room. Arnav attended the call smirking.
*Who is this?* Arnav asked.
*Hi, Arnav. This is...*
Before the person told him who he was, Arnav recognized his voice. He was none other than Jamal Akhtar. The jailer.
*Hello, Sir... How are you?*
*I'm fine, Arnav*
*Actually, I searched for you, sir...*
*Yes, Arnav. I know. I was in Varanasi for temporary duty at that time. I came to Delhi today morning only. I just saw your marriage invitation which you sent to me. I'm so happy about your marriage and more than that. I'm happy because you married Khushi. * he said with real happiness.
Arnav was stuck hearing Jamal talking about Khushi.
*How do you know Khushi?* Arnav asked surprisingly.
*I used to give you sweets and fruits every week when you were in jail... remember? *
*Yes... I remember...*
*Khushi was the one who provided those to you...*
*Whaaaat! Khushi...?* Shock sounded in his voice.
*Yes. Khushi is my sister's friend. She requested me a lot to do that. She told me everything about you. You know I was impressed by her way of telling me about you. She respects you so much... and loves you too... very much... since long... even before your marriage*
Arnav was speechless. was that true? Did Khushi love him for a long? But how?
*She told me everything about you... how wealthy your family is. you were born with a silver spoon. She cried for you because she couldn't tolerate you struggling in jail. I agreed to do it only for her...* Jamal said.
Arnav started receiving eatables from Jamal from the second week of his jail life. He thought Jamal was the one who gave him those. He couldn't believe that Khushi loves him from the beginning without anyone's knowledge.
*Why didn't you tell me anything about her before?* Arnav questioned.
*She requested me not to... I'm not sure that she would have told you about that after your marriage too...*
Arnav was silent.
*As you are silent, she has not told you yet... right?*
*Yes, sir... she has not told me anything regarding. This is brand new news for me... in fact, unbelievable news too...*
*She is a very nice girl... her love is true...*
Arnav knew her love is true but the history of her love.
*Sir could you do me a favor?* Arnav asked.
*Sure...*
*Could you come to my house today?*
*Oh... are you going to make me a witness to catch your wife?* Jamla laughed.
*Yes, Sir. To do that, you have to visit us... especially Khushi...*
*Actually, I just called you to say that only. I'm on the way to your home. I couldn't attend your marriage. So, I thought to visit you guys...I will be there in a few minutes...* Jamal said.
Arnav's face lightened.
*I will be waiting for you, sir...*
Arnav disconnected the call with amazement. Khushi was in love with him from the beginning... even before his first marriage. That was why she agreed to marry him... she argued with her mother and brother... accepted his condition... agreed to wait for him...
Jamal said she cried. Khushi also mentioned it once that she cried for two months. Did she cry for HIM? For getting married to someone or for getting arrested? He has to get answers... and Jamal will help him to get those.
To be continued...
