once in a while, people look at me and say:
"you must have a perfect life."
and i want to say:
"no, i don't.
i think i'm up shit's creek."
because i am.
i waste my time trying to
be the perfect friend,
i waste my time trying to
be the perfect student,
i waste my time trying to
be the perfect daughter,
but in the end, i'm wasting my time
for nothing.
because what are friends for
if they don't know the real you,
because what are grades for
when you don't feel satisfied achieving them,
because what is family for
when you're afraid to open up to them?
"my life is falling apart." i want to say.
but i don't.
instead, i smile at them and say:
"yeah."
because now, when everything
seems to be against me,
the least i could do
is support my own self.
