"Gempa..."

The boy heard vigorous knocks on the door as the shuttle departed, the ear-splitting scream of someone's name so familiar, felt the panic-filled his master's mind. And he knew, the element closest to him would also feel the welling emotion inside Boboiboy. Protecting was an enormous responsibility. Once again, cruel reality hit the fifteen-year-old child too hard and suddenly.

"I failed."

Broken promises flurried away like withered butterflies.

---

The earth elemental stood in front of the door with a blue tornado symbol. The child's head hung low, not daring to face the owner of the room. Gempa thought he needed to do something, but his mind couldn't come up with a solution to the problem they're facing.

He didn't have to knock on the door as it opened by itself, Taufan appeared from behind it with an unreadable face. Gempa held his breath; his mind was so baffled that he lost the ability to read other's emotions, which Taufan often admired. Looks like the wind has changed direction this time.

They were silent, only Taufan caringly took the earth hand, bringing the other into his dimension, where the gentle breeze eased the human soul. Realizing that the earth element had been shaking non-stop, Taufan wrapped his arms around him. Taufan heard whispers of apology, knowing they had failed, Princess Kuputeri had been captured, and she had given the fifteen-year-old boy a difficult task to complete. Taufan could not stand still, something urged him to run out there and protect that person .

But this was not the right time, he refrained from his feelings by hugging Gempa tighter.

"No one was to blame for this." The wind-like whisper reached the boy's ear, "It was never your fault."

"But Princess is important to you, right?"

With his heart slightly throbbing, Taufan gathered all his courage to speak up, "Gempa," His face rubbing against the said elemental's shoulder, "I'm proud to be one of Boboiboy's first elementals."

"I know."

"I love you guys, and will always cherish the memories we have together."

"I know."

"I also want to protect Princess Kuputeri. Like I used to."

There was a pause between their conversation. Gempa pushed the wind element away, his honey eyes glittered with anxiety. "Do you really want to go back?"

"... I don't know." Taufan wasn't sure if he was lying. On one side, lies their beautiful memories, while on the other side, was the responsibility that needs to be fulfilled. He understood the decision he's about to make could break someone's heart.

"Gempa, if Tok Kasa wanted you to come back to him, would you do as he said?" The kid suddenly changed the subject, leaving Gempa confused by the question posed.

"Both of them are good people."

"He'll find a way to snatch me back anyway." There was a hint of sarcasm in Gempa's voice about the previous owner's decision. The earth element still admits Tok Kasa was a good person, he just resorted to his solution in the wrong place and at the wrong time. He needed Crystal to defeat Retak'ka as the one who sealed him a hundred years ago. Gempa understood why Taufan couldn't make his choice; he was thankful when Hang Kasa allowed Boboiboy to keep the earth element.

"But Princess chose a different way, she gave Boboiboy a choice, which puts lots of pressure on him." This wasn't the problem between elemental owners only. It involved an entire planet and the war that came with it. If Boboiboy could protect Windara, it'd be proven that he is worthy of the power. On the other hand, will he still be able to claim himself as the guardian of the galaxy?

In other words, this is a mental test.

Then the easiest way was to bring Taufan back to Princess Kuputeri?

"I don't want him to carry more burdens."

---

Knock knock.

"Don't open the door," a low and gruff voice said from behind the door.

Taufan's hand on the doorknob froze. He knew too well who the person on the other side of the door was. There was a sound of slithering down the door, so he did as well, and sat down quietly.

"Why do we talk like this?" Taufan let out an innocuous joke, "You hate looking at me that much?"

"Be grateful, I'm trying not to punch you in the face."

The other side of the door didn't give attention to his jokes anyway. Well, he couldn't expect more from Halilintar. Taufan should feel lucky that Halilintar didn't really mean to punch him, so Gempa must have just told the other what happened.

"Even us couldn't hold you back, could we?"

Can't the memories they have with each other since Boboiboy was eleven keep Taufan here? Halilintar knew he was asking a ridiculous question, Taufan definitely spent more time with Kuputeri than with his new master. But somewhere in him hoped that Taufan would change his mind, he believed that the time spent with the other elements was the most precious thing in their lives.

He sighed softly when there was no answer on the other side of the door that he expected.

"You are so selfish."

It really hurts.

"So are we." The boy in red slowly shrunk back. He understood that his efforts to convince Taufan were futile.

"Hali, promise me one thing." The latter strained his ears to hear the voice behind the door, "After rescuing Princess, help me protect him until the end of this war."

Taufan leaned his head on the door separating them. After a while, when silence loomed over again, he realized there was no one sitting at the other side of the door with him anymore.

The element of wind stood behind Halilintar's blocking arm, while Gempa held onto the blue boy's hand. They should have been glad to have rescued the Princess, but no one smiled. The moment that decides the departure of an elemental.

"We've made a promise."

The other two children were quiet. They hesitated, obviously. But then Halilintar lowered his arm, and Gempa got his hand off him, and Taufan gave them a grateful look. The remaining two elementals turned back to the watch, and only Taufan stood in front of the venerable princess. Her hand on the hand of the elemental took the form of a fifteen-year-old child.

"Welcome back, Beliung."

"With all my respect, Your Highness."

Taufan stood in front of the door which has the golden lightning symbol, beside him was an eleven-year-old boy named Boboiboy. How nostalgic, turns out he's been with his master since he was too young, ha , now Boboiboy is still a kid, isn't he? The only difference was that he took too much suffering. Gempa was right, a kid doesn't deserve this cruelty. Especially when it comes to war .

The little one clung to the hem of the older boy's shirt, he didn't want him to go, he didn't want him to walk through that door. Boboiboy didn't want to see a goodbye smile from the elemental that represents his happiness. Taufan slowly crouched down to the boy's height, put his hand on the orange dinosaur hat that had been with him since he was a little boy.

"Boboiboy, nothing lasts forever. Even pain, sadness, or happiness." The older one smiled, his blue eyes filled with determination, "This isn't a goodbye. I won't say that, because I'll come back ."

There would always be an end for their owners, and Kuputeri was no exception. There would come a time when he must leave Boboiboy forever, but not here, not now. There would be a way for the wind elemental to return, he was sure of it.

"Don't be sad," My honorable master... "See you soon."

Blue butterfly wings brought beautiful memories with the element of wind. Laughter echoed in the white room, and he left, as light as a feather. The blue tornado icon on the watch screen disappeared.

Even though he understood Taufan's words, Boboiboy's tears couldn't stop falling.

[End]
