NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE (Completed)
37 Suspicion
Part 37 Suspicion
Arnav could not believe what he had just heard. Was that Radha? No. The accountant intentionally was getting Radha into this matter so that he would not create a scene, he supposed.
"Don't lie. She has nothing in this matter. Most probably, she won't poke her nose in my matter." Arnav said confidently.
"I swear, sir. She was the one who got my phone yesterday to make a call. If you have questions, you can call her and hear her voice. Then, hopefully, you will identify her voice." Rita was more confident than Arnav and shook him to the core.
"Do you have her number?" Aman asked.
"Sorry, sir. I don't have her number, but you can get it from your father, " she suggested.
Arnav left the place and said nothing.
"I will get her number if you want," said Aman.
As Arnav didn't deny it, he called Lavanya, and she answered his call.
"Tell me, Aman."
"Lavanya, could you send me Radha Aunty's number?"
"But why do you want her number?"
"I saw her going to the temple two days before. She felt bad because I was not at all talking to her. That's why I want her number. So that I can talk to her without ASR knowledge. Don't know why it feels like talking to her."
"Oh... Okay, I will send you her number."
"Thank you, Lavanya."
Lavanya sent Radha's number to Aman. Aman dialled Radha's number immediately. She attended the call.
"Hello, who is speaking?" Radha asked.
Aman looked at Arnav, who nodded with an unbelievable expression.
"Is this Stella?" Asked Aman intentionally.
"Sorry, wrong number." Radha disconnected the call.
Aman looked at Arnav.
"Was that Radha aunty who called you?" Aman asked with disbelief.
Arnav nodded yes with the same disbelief.
"I can't believe this," said Aman.
Arnav was also in the same state. He was thrilled that the caller was none other than Radha, who had saved Khushi's career. Was that Radha who called him and alerted him to save Khushi's life? He remembered what Lavanya told Khushi about Radha the other day. Was what she said true? Was Radha indeed a nice woman?
Thinking about it, Arnav walked out with Aman. At the same time, Arvind came out of his cabin with Radha. Arvind and Radha were embarrassed to see Arnav in the office. Radha swiftly went to Arvind's cabin and hid from Arnav; she didn't want to make him angry. That had not gone unnoticed by Arnav.
"Chotte, you here?" Arvind asked awkwardly.
"We came here for an enquiry," Arnav said.
"Enquiry? What enquiry?" Arvind was confused. He didn't know what was there to enquire.
"I got a call yesterday."
"From whom?" Arvind asked.
"I don't know. To know that only I came here."
Radha gulped her fear. She knew Arnav was talking about her call very well.
"What are you talking about?"
"The caller asked me to stop Khushi from having anything and saved her career."
Arvind frowned. He did not know what had happened and did not expect Radha to do that.
"But how do you know the call was from AR?"
"We dialled the same number again. That was when we learned that the caller was from AR. And we got to know something to..." Arnav stopped and looked at his cabin where Radha was hiding. He knew Radha was hearing them.
"What did you know?"
"The owner of the phone number didn't call me, but someone."
Radha caught her breath in fear.
"But why are you searching for the person?"
"I stopped Khushi from having anything. We checked the drink provided to her. That was when we got to know her drink was spiked to ruin her career. I want to know who is behind this conspiracy. I'm sure the person who alerted me should have known that." Arnav said with a serious face, reading Arvind's face because Arnav suspected Arvind to be a culprit. He supposed that if Radha knew about the conspiracy, there were a lot of chances for Arvind to be the culprit.
Radha was scared like hell. What would she do if Arnav dealt with her directly? How would she face him?
"I want to know who is behind this. If the protector belongs to AR, the culprit should also belong to AR..." Arnav said, reading Arvind's expression, who was nervous because Arvind guessed who would have done that. Arnav noticed it.
"I will not leave the person who wants to ruin Khushi's career. I will chop the person into pieces."
"Why are you talking like this? You are unnecessarily getting angry, Chotte..."
"Unnecessary? Do you know what would have happened if Khushi had had the drink? The person should be impotent and not have the guts to face me straight." He said, gritting his teeth.
"Chotte, relax. We will Find out who the person is." Arvind tried to console him.
"I don't believe you will do that. I don't care about it, though. I know how to find him." Arnav said with a sharp gaze.
Arvind looked at him, gulping down.
"Let's go, Aman," Arnav said, not taking his eyes off Arvind.
Then he walked. Aman followed him.
"ASR, who you are suspecting?"
"I suspect senior ASR. He was not fine with my relationship with Khushi."
Aman became thoughtful. Arvind knew Khushi took care of Arnav when he was ill. Did Arvind spike Khushi's drink because of that?
"What are you thinking?" Arnav asked.
"Your father came to RM when you were ill. He saw Khushi there but didn't talk to her or react..."
"How do you know?"
"He called me and asked about Khushi."
"He saw Khushi taking care of me. Yet he is doing cheap things."
"Wait, ASR. Don't conclude anything without getting a clear picture."
"What's there to think more?"
"There is... if the culprit is your father, Radha Aunty would not have called you but stopped your father. She would not have waited until the drink was provided. More than that, she would not have allowed him to do the cheap act. Leaving all the possibilities behind, she called you. That means she would have been unable to stop the person..."
Arnav nodded yes, as Aman had a point. He tried to connect the dots, which was not hard for him.
"What do you think?" Arnav asked.
"Maybe, Mr Kashyap... who wants you to become his son-in-law."
Arnav also suspected the same. They came to the parking lot and saw Lalith leaving his car. Arnav and Aman saw him. Aman turned Arnav towards him and made him see his face. Lalith saw Arnav, and his face brightened. He walked fast towards them.
"ASR, don't do anything in haste. This is a sensitive thing." Aman said in a low tone.
"How could I be silent?" Arnav yelled, making Aman jerk.
"ASR..." Aman gritted his teeth.
"Do you want me to be quiet? If I find the one who spiked Khushi's drink, I will cut him into pieces..."
They saw Lalith slow down his walking speed.
"I'm not going to leave this matter. I already took the man's photo from the CCTV footage from the stadium. I will, however, catch him." Arnav said wrathfully and looked at Lalith.
Arnav pretended like he was composing himself, seeing Lalith.
"Hello, uncle..."
"Hi, Arnav, you here?"
"We are here to inquire about an important matter, uncle. You carry on. We are getting late to college." Arnav walked, not paying heed to him, leaving Lalith in disappointment.
Arnav started the car.
"Why didn't you tell him the matter, ASR?"
"He heard me, and his expression changed. I don't want to give importance to that man." Arnav said, changing the gear.
They reached the college. Arnav's tension fled away seeing Khushi.
"Good morning," he smiled.
"Good morning..."
"Hariprakash said you were not at home when he brought your breakfast. Where were you?"
"I was doing my regular practice."
"Didn't you take off?"
Khushi nodded no, pressing her lips. Arnav smiled, folding his hands.
"I woke up as usual. Then what to do?" She pouted.
"I thought you wanted to be fit to accept my proposal", he said, making a sad face.
Khushi walked to her place smilingly.
"It seems what I thought is right?" he asked.
Khushi's smile brightened. He came to her and said,
"We will continue our practice starting tomorrow morning."
"Why tomorrow morning? Why not this evening?" Khushi asked.
"Khushi, doesn't your interest have limits?"
She nodded no.
"Ok, we will start this evening..."
"Why did you come late?" She asked.
"I went to the office for a purpose."
"Principal asked for you."
"Oh, did you meet him?"
"Yeah, PI took me. It's a formality. He wants to meet you."
"Let's go"
"Me? I have already met him."
"What did he say?"
"He congratulated me on my new record."
"Then?"
"Then nothing"
"Come with me. He may tell us something about the National Meet."
Arnav walked, and Khushi accompanied him.
Arnav knocked on the Principal's cabin door.
"Come in," the Principal said.
Arnav entered.
"Good morning, sir."
"Good morning. Where is Khushi?"
Arnav peed out and gestured for her to come in. She got in.
"You both are our pride. Get ready for the National Meet. If you guys win a National Meet, you don't have to pay fees for the next two years."
Khushi looked at him, frowning, whereas Arnav looked at her from the corner of his eyes.
"But, I got a FREE seat only, Sir," Khushi said.
"Free seat? Who said? I agree you got a seat in the sports quota, but you, too, paid fees. Didn't your father tell you?"
Before Khushi said anything,
"Yes, sir... she meant, her seat is not a payment seat, I suppose..." Arnav said.
Khushi looked at him, frowning.
To be continued...
