Part 42 It's Radha

Arnav saw Sheetal approaching him. Aman, who also saw her, rushed to Arnav and whispered.

"ASR, don't lose your temper. She is the only bait. We can catch Lalith only through her. Don't forget that." He reminded.

Arnav closed his eyes and composed himself closely. Though he calmed himself down, he was not ready to leave her easily. He didn't want the girl who intended to make him restless to be peaceful. He wanted to put her on fire. He waited until Sheetal got close to them and made sure she heard him saying.

"Yes, Aman, just now the inspector called me..."

Aman looked at him, not understanding why the inspector called him.

"Yes, they caught the man who gave the spiked drink to Khushi," Arnav said, gesturing for Aman something through his eyes.

Now, Aman understood what Arnav tried to do. They noticed Sheetal's horrified expression.

"Really? Did they catch him? But how? There was no CCTV camera in that place..." Aman asked because he knew Sheetal would get the doubt.

"Yes, they found him through a selfie..."

"Selfie? I didn't get you."

"Someone took a selfie with his medal exactly when the man gave the drink to Khushi. He posted the photo on his Instagram. The police noticed it and asked me. I confirmed he was the one."

"You have done a perfect job, ASR..."

"Police will get the truth from him about who is behind the drinks issue. I will show them what will happen if they mess up with me." Arnav said with real anger.

Aman saw Sheetal gulping down. She understood that the situation was not fine. More than that, she wanted to convey the message to Lalith immediately. She was supposed to leave the place but stopped hearing Aman calling her.

"Hi, Sheetal... What happened? You are leaving as if you didn't see us?"

"Yeah, you guys seemed to be discussing something important..." Sheetal grinned at him.

"Yeah, it's important, but there is no problem if you are with us because we know you. You are not a cheap girl who wants to humiliate others," Aman intentionally said.

Sheetal smiled awkwardly.

"Do you know someone spiked Khushi's drink in the State meet?"

"I...s it?"

"If I get that b** in my hands, I will bury him alive", Arnav said, gritting his teeth.

"Yes, ASR, his skin should be peeled off alive. How dare he think of spoiling Khushi's career...!"

"Not only his skin but also whoever helped him in this...!" Arnav exclaimed.

Sheetal sweated badly. She wiped her forehead nervously but, something hit her mind.

"How do you know her drink was spiked?" Sheetal asked.

"A good hearted MAN called ASR and told him about it." Aman intentionally said MAN instead of WOMAN because he didn't want Radha's name to be revealed.

"Man? Who is the man?" Sheetal asked, not showing her curiosity.

"We don't know. It's an anonymous call."

"Didn't you try to find him using the phone number?"

"We tried, but we could not. The number and the phone both are inactive."

Sheetal was disappointed.

"But, how did you believe someone unready to reveal his identity? He could have done that to divert your attention to someone. Or, he intentionally did that to show someone bad in your eyes." Sheetal added.

"It was confirmed that the drink was spiked. We tested it and submitted it to the police. Moreover, the man didn't say who was behind that. He just alerted ASR to stop Khushi from drinking the juice. Then, how could his intention be bad?" Aman snapped.

Sheetal was perplexed. Who was that man? How did he know their plan? Why did he send the message to Arnav? What did he stand to gain from this? He might be an enemy of Lalith, but how did this enemy become aware of the plan? He might have been following Lalith. After all, this was the most significant deal of Lalith's life. He wanted Arnav to marry Lavanya, as that union would make Lalith an unshakable power in the business world. Preventing their marriage would be the best way to hinder Lalith's ambitions. Sheetal was grappling with thoughts that seemed unfounded.

That was when Sheetal received a call.

"Excuse me..." Sheetal said as she walked away.

"ASR, I think we should follow her. She's likely going to call Lalith," Aman suggested.

"I don't think she will make a call right away. She won't be careless," Arnav replied.

"You might be right, but we shouldn't be careless either. Let me keep an eye on her. What harm could it do?"

Arnav nodded, and Aman left. Turning around, Arnav noticed Khushi standing there. He smiled at her.

"Who informed you about the spiked drink?" she asked.

Arnav was silent.

"Did you find him?"

"I found HER."

"HER?" Khushi echoed, surprised.

Arnav nodded.

"But when you spoke to Sheetal, you said it was a MAN."

"I said that to keep her from guessing who it was," Arnav explained.

"Who is she?"

Arnav sighed and replied,

"Mrs. Raizada..."

Khushi was taken aback, realising the implication of Mrs. Raizada.

"You mean...?" she started to say.

Arnav confirmed with a nod.

"So, Lavanya was right," she stated.

Arnav remained silent.

"Lavanya already told me she is concerned about you and always argues with your father on your behalf." She smiled softly.

"Why didn't you tell me about this?"

"I really wanted to, but I hesitated. I wasn't sure how you would react."

"Then how can you talk to me about it now?" Arnav asked.

"I didn't know anything about her before. I only knew what Lavanya told me. Now that you've discovered this alone, I felt encouraged to talk to you."

"You can talk to me about anything. Don't be scared."

"It's not about fear. I didn't want to hurt you by doing something you wouldn't like. It seems Radha Aunty is a good woman. Her intentions are pure. She didn't want to disappoint you, so she alerted and saved me, knowing what I mean to you."

"Do you know what you mean to me?" Arnav asked, suddenly serious.

Khushi was taken aback, not expecting the question.

"Don't you?" he pressed.

Khushi was at a loss for words.

"You said you didn't want to hurt me by doing something I wouldn't like. Doing what I like and not doing what I don't like—that's what LOVE is. You claimed you wouldn't hurt me. Don't you think keeping your distance from me is hurting me?"

Khushi widened her eyes, surprised by his words.

"I didn't mean physical distance..." he chuckled.

Khushi looked down thoughtfully.

"Okay... I understood..."

"Cutting him off, Khushi said,

"I'm talking about Radha, Aunty."

"Do you want me to talk to her?" Arnav asked, narrowing his eyes.

Khushi shook her head hurriedly.

"I didn't mean it. It's tough to find people with good intentions, Arnavji. We should not hurt those good souls. You don't need to talk to her or, build a relationship with her, but please don't think negatively of her or let resentment grow in your heart."

Arnav nodded slightly. Khushi took a step to leave when Arnav called her name.

"Khushi..."

"Mmm?"

"You remind me of my mother."

Khushi was taken aback; she didn't understand what he meant.

"She called my father Arvind Ji... just like you call me Arnav Ji."

Khushi was dumbfounded. She had called him that out of pure respect.

"What made you call me that?"

"I called you respectfully..."

"Yes, my mom also respected her husband," he smirked.

"I know what you want me to say."

"Do you know?"

"I do... You also know why I'm taking my time..."

"But I've already told you, winning and losing won't stop me. I want to marry you. I don't want to lose you for any reason. I don't want you to feel pressured to accept my proposal in case of a negative result..."

"It will be a positive result. I will win," she said confidently.

"Then why aren't you accepting me if you're so sure?"

"I want to accept you with eligibility"

"I don't need any special conditions. Being Khushi is what makes you unique."

"What's the rush? Can't you wait until the national meet?" Khushi asked.

Arnav smiled, nodding like, NO.

"I'm going..." Khushi said, which broadened his smile.

.......

In the meantime, Shashi came home for lunch. They heard someone knocking on the door, and Garima saw a woman standing there.

"Yes, what do you want?" Garima asked.

"May I speak with Mr. Gupta?" the woman replied.

Garima looked at Shashi, who then stepped forward.

"I'm Shashi Gupta. How can I help you?" he asked.

"I'm Mrs. Radha. I need to discuss something important with you," she stated.

Shashi and Garima exchanged a glance, and then Radha entered their home.

To be continued...
