jaemin woke up with a headache. his vision was blurry as he sluggishly opened his eyes. the familiar scene came to his sight, he was still in his coffee shop. he remembered being drugged by a guy though, how he could stay put without being raped or things like that. he slowly got up, realised he was sitting on an armchair. jaemin shook his head slightly since he didn't want to feel the pain. he started suspecting as he felt skeptical. he did lock his shop's door so there was no way the kidnapper could open the door and leave him there. the more he doubted, the less evidences he found. actually, there was no evidence. no traces were left behind as the scene looked totally normal. apparently jaemin was scared, but he opted to go to his apartment.
on his way home, he kept thinking about the suspicious case of him. he could imagine how strong and veiny those arms were because when the guy drugged him, he tried to scratch the guy's arms to escape. he thought he was dreaming but he wasn't, he was truly drugged. jaemin began to feel more and more doubtful. what was the purpose of the man after all? if he intentionally had done something to jaemin, he would have kept jaemin there and not let him go. being too deep in thoughts, jaemin didn't know he was standing in front of his apartment. the steps became heavy as jaemin's mood wasn't fine.
after entering his room, he locked carefully and changed his clothes. cold shower was the only thing he thought it could help him ease his mind. he stepped in the bathroom, twisted the tab and then the water poured out. jaemin loved the feeling of the water hitting his face, even the waiter hit him quite harsh, he still enjoyed. he only felt relieved when he showered. it took jaemin thirty minutes to finished taking the bath as he was tranquilly playing with the water. he stepped out, water slowly dripped, only a towel was covering his bottom. quickly putting on his pyjama, jaemin grasped the phone.
he scrolled down the newsfeed and looked at the news boringly. his nerves did kick his sense but he tried to brush aside the gut feeling as if it wasn't necessary. jaemin wanted to forget today's accident but his mind automatically played it continually. it caused him a bad dizziness. he sluggishly went to the bedroom when the sleepiness struck him. he knew he had just woken up from sleeping not so long but the feeling still lingered so he wished he could have gotten a proper rest. after entering the room, jaemin recklessly jumped on the bed and tossed to the side. he hugged the pillow tightly and closed his heavy lids. he got carried away with the sleepiness but how strange, he couldn't fall asleep. he indeed knew he was on the verge of sleeping but something precluded him from doing it. he tried to close his eyes again but it was the same, he was unabled to sleep.
- fuck it
jaemin cursed under the shaky breath. he tossed over on the bed while rubbing his eyes. he sighed loudly, almost let out a train of curses if he didn't hold himself. he tried to fetch his phone, accidentally dropped it on the floor. jaemin groaned in agitation as bad things had been happening to him more than twice. he then decided to listen to some r&b songs to cold down and soothe. he knew this would help because after all, his heart belonged to music.
magically, the trick did work. jaemin gradually drifted to sleep, his eyelids shut while he was breathing calmly. the music playlist kept on playing whilst jaemin was strolling in his dream. maybe his day was terrible, but at least he could enjoy his precious sleep in the end of the day.
the night passed utterly fast. the sun went up while the moon went down. some birds were chirping outside the window, cool wind was blowing in his room. jaemin awoke, raised both his hands up to stretch his joints, sniffed the morning breeze and felt it. he moved his head to the side, cautiously cracked it but not crash it. the sound emitted but jaemin didn't care. eventually, he got up, did his morning routine and was ready to have a good day.
he still thought of the accident. in some ways, his mind told him to meet the man named jeno again but his other thought prevented him from seeing him. jaemin was baffled as he was battling with his thoughts. soon after, he shook his head slightly and sighed. everything had been so complicated in just a day, jaemin had to ease his mind and make it easy. he decided to leave all the thoughts aside and went on.
he wore his usual clothes, formal but not too uncomfortable. looking in the mirror, jaemin felt like he was reflecting on himself. maybe everything was a bit out of control so all he needed to do was to ignore and keep on doing his own business. it wasn't worth dwelling on the past so he would think over when he had time.
the bell clanged, felix quickly looked up from the counter. he smiled and waved at jaemin.
- hey mate, how it's going?
jaemin scratched his nape, didn't want to tell the story. he then smiled back at felix, patted the younger's head.
- nothing interesting hmm. i'm a bit under weather today, would you mind stand in for me?
felix didn't have to think contemplate twice, he abruptly nodded and told jaemin to go get a rest. jaemin went behind the counter, tiredly laid on the sofa. it wasn't odd for a shop to have sofa, workers had to rest too. he didn't want to go back to his sleep so he just laid there, hardly did anything. felix surely was concerned about jaemin but he decided to stay quiet instead of speaking up.
the morning seemed to pass serenely, not crowded like other days. maybe it was because customers couldn't see jaemin anywhere and they didn't have the chance to taste jaemin's special coffee. frankly, felix was skillful, he was one of the best coffee makers in jaemin's shop. that was the main reason for which jaemin trusted felix the most.
he looked at sanha and felix talking and laughing, suddenly wanted to join their conversation. however, his body didn't want to get up. it was being held back by tons of rocks on it. jaemin tried to lift up and this time, the god must have blessed him, he managed to stand up without tripping. he walked forwards to the two boys, softly smiled at them.
- what are you guys talking about?
- hmm nothing. anyway, have you gotten any better?
jaemin was about to answer then felix chirped in.
- we're extremely worried about you hyung, remember to take care of your health please
jaemin couldn't snap at felix because he was so pure and adorable. he gently ruffled felix's blonde hair and then changed his gaze to sanha.
- don't worry, i'm fine. maybe my body is worn out so it can't assist me to bear this
he gave a reassuring smile, thumbed up at those boys standing in front of him. sanha merely shook his head and walked away, left felix behind with jaemin. he was really angry at jaemin when he didn't take care of his health. probably he might have had a reason, but sanha couldn't know, or he could have never been told.
the evening came, the sunset was romantic and ethereal. jaemin closed the shop, stepped out and locked it. while doing it, he kept thinking of the accident. it was stuck in his mind that he couldn't stop brooding over. finally, he turned his back at the door, strolled down the street. all the advertisements on the buildings and towers, the noise of vehicles made jaemin feel numb. he wasn't sure why he felt it, but his body froze, for a moment, he couldn't move.
taking in a deep breath, jaemin slowly looked at the sky. it was red, a little bit like pumpkin color. then, he collasped. the drowsy feeling struck him. well, he wasn't deprived of sleeping right? maybe, someone had drugged him. but who? jaemin asked in his subconscious mind, hoped for the least he would know the identification of the kidnapper. and, coincidentally, he heard "jeno" echoing in his head.
