Harry’s POV
Back to the evening, when I came back to our tables, Vani told me that Lucia had gone home. Even when she said Lu was tired, depended on the look she gave me, I knew something had happened.
It was about 1am when I woke up from my doze. I laid back on my bed, put my hands behind my head and stared at the ceiling. I didn’t think anything, but still couldn’t sleep.
“Gosh! This is more tired than wake up!” I complaint to myself and then got out of the bed. I put on my coat and walked outside.
The air was really fresh. Sounds of night echoed back, freezing wind gently went by. Everything was drowning in silence, a thoughtful silence. The moon hung lazily on the sky, leaving trails of sliver lights on the peaceful lake. Some stars twinkled up above the mysterious darkness.
Lucia was sitting on the swing near the lake, waving her feet slightly like a little kid, tried to make the swing move harder. I let out a small laugh at her childish and walked to her. She didn’t know I was there until the leaves under my feet started to make some sounds.
Lucia instantly turned her head around. She was surprised when she saw me standing there, looking at her. The emotion on her face was unreadable and I could see the conflict in her eyes. Lu stopped waving her feet and looking down, let the swing moved freely.
“Good evening!” I decided to break the silence and came closer, step by step. I didn’t want to give her any chance to run away. Not this moment, not today, not with what was happening tomorrow.
“You meant Good morning?” Lucia giggled and spoke with teasing tone. “It’s 1am now, Curly.”
“I said that intentionally to see if you’re paying attention.”
“Sure you are!!!” Lucia rolled her eyes at me, laughing and came back with waving her feet.
“Need a help?” I asked and pushed the swing a little.
“Oh yes! Thank you!” She turned around and smiled to me just like the old time.
We kept being silent like that for long minutes. It was just me, Lucia and the nature. Nothing else to stop us, or interrupt us. I was too afraid to open the conversation. I’d rather know nothing to say something and make her run away again. I wasn’t gonna lose my chance anymore.
“Did you remember the first time we met?” Lucia suddenly asked, laughing to herself. “I was trying to push this thing too and you came, offered for help in the most impolite way. That was when I knew my lake-house neighbor had an annoying kid.”
“I was just nervous. That was why I talked like that. Besides, you looked not like any girl I’d met in those shorts and T-shirt.” I said and joined with her laugh. “I was afraid you were going to say no, or hit me.”
“You said like you was an innocent boy.” Lucia teased “After five minutes, you pushed so hard that I fell on the ground.”
“Did I?” I pretended to be surprise and then burst into laugh as Lucia playfully hit me. “I would never forget your face when you landed with your stomach. People would give a perfect ten marks for that.”
“Evil curly.” Lucia mumbled.
I walked forward and stood in front of Lucia. I raised my eye brows at her and smirked.
“Want to try again?” I asked.
“Harry Edward Styles, don’t you dare…”
But before Lucia could finish her sentence, I had speeded up the swing and she started yelling at me.
“Harry!!!!” She screamed and laughed hard at the same time. Suddenly I pushed the swing to make it stop and Lucia’s body fell to the front in inertia. I grabbed my arms around her waist and pulled her out of the seat. Both of us fell on the ground. I rolled over so I was on top, hovering myself above her body, pinned her down with my strength.
“Well, that was fun.” I said breathlessly.
“Just like the old time.” She said. I smiled to her, felt our hearts were beating fast. The moonlights caressed Lucia’s face, appeared in her eyes, making it shining more than ever.
“Why did you leave the club tonight?” I finally found the courage to ask. I looked deep into her eyes with the desperation to know the answer.
“I’m tired.”
“Liar!” I curtailed the distance between our faces. “Please tell me why you left?”
Lucia remained silent. She didn’t look into my eyes anymore, nor reply my expectation. She bit her lips and looked away. Few minutes passed by and I had thought I couldn’t get my answer. Tonight was the last night, and I didn’t want to force her, or make her cry.
“You don’t have to answer the question.” I whispered in disappointment and got up. When I was about to walk away, I heard Lucia’s voice called my name.
“Don’t go!”
She got up too. Her hair fell on her shoulder as she ran to me. Lucia held me back by my elbow and spun me around. She grabbed her arms around my body and buried her face into my chest. Her warm and hasty tears wetted my shirt as I tremulously hugged her back, put my chin on the top of her head.
“I left because I couldn’t stand another moment of seeing you and Chloe together. I left because I wasn’t strong enough. I left because I was afraid. I left because I remembered all the memories between us.” Lucia said in her tears. All of the emotions were showed in her voice. They all burst out and streamed out like they had been held back for days.
“And I left….” Lucia continued. “…because I love you.”
My breath seemed to hitch when I heard those three words. I looked down, grabbed her face and placed my lips on hers. Wasting no time, I pulled Lucia closer as my lips worked on her in a perfect rhythm. She tried to struggle, but I didn’t give up. My fingers ran through her hair and I held her in my arms, giving her no way to get out.
I wasn’t going to let her go anymore…
Lucia finally stopped her silent protest and relaxing in my embrace. Passion was filled in the kiss as I felt our bodies heated. My hand traveled down her back and I put them on either side of her thigh. I strongly lifted her up and Lucia grabbed her legs around my waist. She gently put her hand in my messy curly hair, curved it around her fingers. I licked her bottom lips, asked for the entrance but as stubborn as she was, Lucia pressed her lips more tight together. I groaned in frustration….
That was when Lucia cut the connection between our kiss and jumped down. She tried to settle herself firm on the ground and pushed me.
“We can’t do this, Harry.” She whispered and slowly stepped away. “You’re getting married tomorrow and this is destroying it. Everything is perfect in its way. Everyone is happy in their ways.”
“Happy?” I asked bitterly. “You think I’m happy? Ask yourself, Lucia, are you happy?”
“I’m not happy. How can I be happy when the girl I love keep pushing me away, keep running away from me, especially when I know she loves me back too? How can I be happy when I have to stand there to see the girl I love crying, and suffer the pain herself? How can I be happy when I can do nothing to help her expect for being the only reason for her tears?”
“Tell me. Tell me in which way I can be happy? Tell me in which way THIS, this thing between us can be perfect? Tell me in which way I can stop you from running away, hiding away, and refusing me?”
“Tell me, back in the old time, why you broke up with me? Tell me why you never gave me a second chance to start everything over again? Tell me why you never heard my sorry? Tell me why you never told me how you felt? TELL ME EVERYTHING I WANT TO KNOW, Lucia!!!”
I stopped breathlessly. I’d never talked so much like that. Everything was exploding inside and stormy was screaming in my body. Lucia was crying, tears streaming down her cheeks and I felt bitter. Heart twisted in a wrong beat when I moved closer and wiped the hot tears away.
“Please, tell me.” I whispered. “Please tell me for one time. Why you broke up with me?”
“Because I was afraid, Harry.”
Before I could say anything, ask anything, or reply anything, Lucia pushed me aside and ran back to the house. Again. I looked to her little body rushing on the path, hastily stepping on the doorsteps and disappeared behind the thick wooden door.
I crumbled down, buried my face in my hand. I had let her run away. Again.

Lucia’s POV
“What should I do?”
That was the first question appeared in my mind when I woke up the following day. I walked to the bathroom and looked at the horrible reflection in the mirror. My eyes were red and tiredly closed because of last night’s events. My hair was a big messy and wet because of tears. Turning on the tap, I pushed some water on my face, trying to wash away the sadness.
The scene last night kept replaying in my head. The sweetness of Harry’s pump lips on mine. His manly scent surrounded me and forced me to lose my mind. The way he held me in his arm and his messy curly hair…Our kiss was surely burning every parts of my body, burning it with the passion and the mysterious strength I had never felt before - desire. Harry’s kiss was like a tornado, pulling me into the state of unconsciousness. I was almost forgetting everything….
Almost.
There was a knock on my door interrupting my thoughts.
“Come in!” I said.
“Morning!” Vani sneaked out her head and then opened the door widely. Her energy filled the room as she walked in and let herself fall on my bed. “How are you today?”
“Not so well, even when I’ve just started it for about 15 minutes.” I said and told her everything happened last night. Vani listened every words carefully. She sighed loudly when I finished my story.
“Why’re you sighing?” I asked.
Vani took a deep breath and spoke. “You’re going to the wedding today, Lucia. No running away more, okay? That’s not a good way. Besides, Harry’s your friend. If you run away today, you’ll have to run for the rest of your life.”
I nodded.

Chloe’s POV
“How do you feel now?” My dad asked me.
“I..erm...” I pulled my attention back to where we were standing. “I’m very happy right now.”
“We’re happy for you too, your mom and I. I’ve never seen you more beautiful than today. You look just like your mom on our wedding. ” My dad placed a kiss on my cheek. “Are you ready for the big moment?”
“Can I ask you something?” I took a deep breath before looking at my dad.
“If you love somebody but you know you can never be with them, you have to be with someone else, will you be sad?”
He was surprised with my question. I guessed he didn’t expected to be ask some tragedy question on such a happy day like this But I really needed to know. I needed a motivation, a reason.
I looked at him, waiting for his answer.
“Well, I’ll be sad, and depressed. Because being with the one I love means everything, and what’s the point of not? Just like I’m able to be with you and your mom. And just like you’re going to be with Harry.”
“Yeah! Right!” I faked a smile before telling him, feeling my heart sink down.
“I think I’m ready.” I spoke, more like to myself than to Dad.
He smiled, gave the guy standing to open the door a signal and he knocked on the door. I took another deep breath before putting a big smile, rechecking my dress. I was ready to do this.
******
The door opened and everyone was looking at me. I smiled back to walk down the aisle with my dad. I saw my friends, my family, Lucia was sitting at the corner, smiling with me and .my mom was crying in happiness
People said that the most amazing part in a wedding was when the bridge walked in, and the groom, who was nervous all the time before, looked up to see his beautiful future wife. They said when you looked into the groom’s eyes, you would understand how much the groom loved you. I’d read about that since I was a little girl, dreamt a thousand times someday my wedding would come…
At the end of the aisle, I saw him. Just like in one of the stories or movies I had seen, Harry was standing there, smiling with me, showing me his dimples. He looked so great in that black suit, curly hair fell perfectly on his forehead. I held my dad’s hand tight and knew that this was my time. I was walking in one of my dreams, and my groom was right there, smiling with me…
But there was one thing…I didn’t have courage to look into his eyes.

“Harry Edward Styles, do you take Chloe Anna Standler to be your lawful wife, to love, honor, cherish her, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health till death separates apart?
“I do.” Harry answered without any hesitation. I returned Harry’s small smile and waited for my vow.
“Chloe Anna Standler, do you take Harry Edward Styles to be your lawful husband, to love, honor, cherish him, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health till death separates apart?”
“I….”
<3
“Chloe, may I introduce, this young man here is…”
“Harry Styles. Nice to meet you, Chloe Standler.”
Like a magnet…
Chloe was always made to pay attention at Harry, since the first day they met. He had his ways to make her happy, to keep a smile on her face when she was with him. His stories or his jokes were not even funny at all, but somehow, she still laughed…
Chloe laughed because the hopefulness he had in his green eyes. He looked like a kid praying for everyone to find the interest in his story. She laughed because of the way he bit his lips, wait for a laugh from the opposite person. She laughed because of the way he sighed in relief when she started laughing. She laughed because of the smile he had on his face when he thought he had managed to kick away the sadness…
She laughed because he was Harry. Just the idea of being with him, just it only had already made her laugh.
But there was one truth that when standing in the church right now, Chloe couldn’t avoid anymore. She couldn’t lie to everyone, or to herself anymore.
She had never been the one who made Harry laugh…
***
It was the day Harry decided to introduce Chloe with Lucia, his best friend. She had never met Lucia before but she had heard Lucia was really amazing. They had been best friend for long and Harry said he really wanted her to meet Lucia.
Chloe was late for about ten minutes. Harry told her that Lucia wanted to wait for her before they ordered anything. She took a deep breath and ran herself to catch up with the time.
“Haizz, green light…” She sighed and stood to wait for her turn to go.
That was when Chloe saw his magical smile, for the first time. Sure she had seen Harry smile many times before, but never like this. Still the way he showed his white teeth, the way he shook his curly hair slightly, the way his dimple appeared on his redden cheeks but she had never seen…
The happiness in his eyes.
Have you ever seen the star twinkling on the sky? Have you ever seen water sparkling under the Sun? Have you ever seen the lights of diamonds? That was the way his happiness shining in Harry’s deep, green eyes.
It wasn’t just because of anything funny. It was because he was looking at the person he loved, because he was happy to be happy…
You are wondering why Chloe knew?
Because she had always looking Harry in that way…
“Truly, madly, crazy, deeply in love…with you…”

“Chloe…Chloe…!”
Harry’s warm voice woke me up from my thoughts. My mind walked out of the mist with confidence, but undeniable pain. Everyone were focusing at me. I saw questions in their eyes. I quickly took a look at Lucia’s spot. She had gone.
“Chloe…!” Harry’s voice appeared again, whispering but desperately trying to get my attention. I stood at there, head racing with thousand thoughts, thousand choices. I didn’t know what to do, what was right, what was wrong.
“Chloe…!” He called me again. This time, Harry put his hand on my cheek and lifted my head up. He forced me to look at him. I knew I had no way to hide anymore. I knew I had to face with the deciding moment.
His lips curved into a perfect line as he looked at me. But again, I was being disappointed because the smile didn’t get to his eyes. It was like the happy feelings just stopped at his lips and never, ever, ever rose to his green eyes. I just want for one, for one time he really smiled with me, like he had always smiled with her.
My mom had taught: “Even when you’re God, wishes cannot always come true.”
“I was so stupid…” I mumbled. A tear slipped out of my eye, running hastily on my cheek. Somehow, some ways, the room became so silent that I could almost catch the sound of the tear landing on the cold, hard floor.
I looked at Harry. How much I had loved him? How deep I had fallen for him? How long could I forget about him? I had come so close, but never close enough.
“Harry, if we had had a second chance, I would definitely be the first one who made you smile…”

[A few days later…]
It was long since the cancellation of Harry Styles and Chloe Standler’s wedding. Everyone was all sad for their love story. Everyone thought they were perfect for each other. The news was on every papers, magazine, every channels. That was all they talked about for the whole week.
Harry picked himself up from the bench as he spotted a familiar small girl was walking toward him. She seemed to know nothing about a curly boy waiting for her at her doorsteps. She was busy jumping on the pavement with one leg with her little brother. Her laugh filled the small and quiet street.
“Harry!!!!!” Her little brother yelled out when he saw him standing there, smiling like a completely idiot.
“Hey champion!” Harry said and picked him up in his strong arms, spinning him around.
He put the boy down and rubbed his head. Lucia’s brother quickly disappeared behind the door, knowing it was the alone time of his sister.
“Hey Lu!” He said, chuckling when he saw the surprise in his best friend’s eyes.
“Hey Curly!” She said quietly and started bouncing up and down on her feet nervously. “What’re you doing here?”
“Waiting for you.” He answered simply, still smiling.
“Humm, weird kid keeps smiling weird smile.” She said.
“And you should be careful.” He finished. Before Lucia knew, Harry attacked her with his big body. He spun her around and slammed her into the wall. “I really think that you should.”
Not giving Lucia a minute to answer, Harry lowed his head down and put his lips on hers. Just like the last time, passion was rising and filled the kiss and their lips moved perfect together.
Harry smiled happily once they had pulled away. He held Lucia’s waist so she had no chance to run away. Harry had known her too much and he had made a promise with someone not to letting her hide anymore. Lucia bit her lips and looked down. He giggled and kissed on her cheek.
“Second chance, Lucia. I want second chance on us. From tomorrow, I picked you up every morning.”
