Part 15 Confirmation

Arnav's condition could not be described in words. He felt a shiver in his spine. Was that girl Khushi who he raped? Her every statement of the past matched his story... especially the hotel PARADISE. Arnav felt helpless when he thought the girl he depraved was none other than Khushi. He was not in the condition to conclude anything. His concentration got back to Khushi and Aman.

"If it is so, didn't you think of telling me your side?" Aman asked.

Arnav could sense Aman trusted Khushi so much.

"What do you want me to tell you, Doctor? Even my Babuji, who thought I was the world, didn't believe me... My family who knew me didn't trust me... then, what could I expect from you? I don't blame you... everything was against me... If I could not prove myself to my family, how could I get the courage to come before you?" She asked wearily.

"Khushi, I know you are angry..."

Cutting him,

"No, Dr. Aman Mathur... I'm not angry with anyone but with myself. It's my fate..."

"What do you mean?"

Khushi stopped talking and composed herself. Arnav and Aman frowned. Why did she say it was her FATE? What was that?

"I have to go... excuse me..."

Khushi was supposed to leave the place, but Aman blocked her way.

"Khushi, I need only one answer from you. Please don't disappoint me. Please tell me, who didn't want us to get married?" Aman asked.

Khushi took a deep breath.

"It's not a big deal, Doctor. You will easily catch the point if you think clearly." She said, looking into his eyes.

Aman gulped down hard. Khushi walked away, leaving Aman under pressure. It was clear that he was trying to connect the dots. He left the place thoughtfully.

Arnav stood like a statue, looking at Khushi's retreating figure. What a turn in the journey of his life! His eyes brimmed. He didn't expect the girl to be Khushi. Khushi was a nice girl. He had never met a self-esteemed girl like Khushi in his life. Was he the reason for her struggles?

Her words that were echoing in his ears echoed again.

"Babuji... please come and save me..." he fisted his fingers, closing his eyes.

Arnav remembered Khushi threatening a girl in a jewellery shop the other day. What was her name...? Sheetal. Was she the reason for Khushi's condition? She was the one marrying Aman Mathur. Khushi said that. Did Sheetal spike her drink to make Khushi wrong in other's eyes to marry Aman Mathur?

Before concluding, Arnav wanted to confirm that the girl was Khushi. He wanted firm confirmation. He saw Khushi coming back without buying anything. She should have lost interest in shopping. Arnav rushed to the car and sat in it as if he knew nothing. Yet, he could not be expected.

Khushi came and got into the car. Arnav felt something in his heart. Seeing her, he lowered his gaze, gulping down.

"Didn't you buy anything?" he asked, making himself up, but he hesitated when talking to her.

He saw Khushi composing herself.

"Headache..." She said calmly.

Though it was a lie, Arnav knew she lied to him.

"Are you going to the hospital with the headache?" he could not hold asking her.

"Mmm..."

"But, you have a headache..."

"I have to..."

Arnav started the car and headed to the hospital. He didn't get the courage to ask her anything. He silently drove the vehicle. It didn't mean he didn't glance at her. He dropped Khushi in the hospital.

"Tell Aunty that I will come to RM tomorrow. I don't think today I can come."

"Any... any problem?"

"No... nothing," she said softly.

Khushi went to the hospital. Arnav stared at her with an unnamed expression. He felt terrible not only for her but also for himself. He never thought he would face such a situation in his life. He searched for the girl, but he could not handle her when she came. He started the car and went to Hotel Paradise to meet the person who knew Khushi.

Arnav was supposed to leave the car but stopped thinking about something. What if the manager didn't tell him the truth? Yes, he was a coward. He might have wanted to escape, not wanting to get into the problem.

Arnav removed his phone and cropped the photo he had captured with Khushi and Aashi that morning. He removed HIM and AASHI from the image and set Khushi's photo as his phone's wallpaper. Now, the manager didn't need to tell the truth. His one look would answer his question. If Khushi was the same girl, the manager could not hold himself if he saw her photo on his phone. His face would let out a shock. That was enough for him to understand that the girl was Khushi.

He headed inside the hotel, searching for the manager, who was once a receptionist. He saw a hotel servant coming.

"Where is the manager?" Arnav inquired.

"He is in the office room, sir."

"Thanks"

Arnav headed to the office. The manager smiled at him.

"Hello, sir... you?"

"I want to book a party hall. Tell me about your terms and conditions."

"What a big term and condition, sir? What will I tell you if it is for you? Take it, sir. It's just fifty thousand per day," he grinned. Didn't he know how wealthy man Arnav was? After all, he gave a considerable amount for a room for a single night five years ago...!

"Oh, I see..."

Taking his phone, Arnav kept it on the table, intentionally pressing the ON button. The phone lit up, and Khushi appeared on the screen. The manager's eyes fell on the phone, and Arnav observed his face. As he expected, his eyes widened, and he saw Khushi's photo. He grabbed the phone and looked at the picture.

"Siiiiirrrr... did you find her?" he questioned. That question was enough for Arnav to understand everything. The girl was undoubtedly Khushi.

"Sir, you are so clever, sir... just two days ago, you asked me about the girl, and now, she has become your phone's wallpaper. You are amazing, sir."

Arnav plastered a smile.

"How did you find her, sir?"

Arnav stood up without answering.

"I will let you know the date of the party..."

"Sure, sir..."

Arnav walked out with a heavy heart. The girl was Khushi... it was confirmed. Now the question was, how was he going to prove himself innocent? How would he make her understand? How would he tell her how he was regretting?

He somehow understood her. She was not an easy nut to crack. She would stop talking to him if she got to know the truth. Then how would he get a chance to make her understand? Khushi was a nice girl. She had no one for herself. She had only HIM... no one else. It was not wise to reveal the truth now, not because she would get angry. Knowingly or unknowingly, he was the reason for her condition. So, he was the responsibility of her life. She had already faced the worst in her life. He could not let her go away from him. No matter what. He had to be supportive of Khushi.

Taking his phone, he called his manager Karan. He attends the call.

"Yes, ASR..."

"I need all the information about Dr Aman Mathur."

"Aman Mathur? You mean the dean of Mathur Hospital?"

"I'm not sure... maybe, yes..."

"Ok..."

"I need all the details about him, his hospital, his family... especially his fiancé and her family."

"Ok, ASR..."

"Assign someone to follow his fiancé... her every move should be watched."

"Ok, ASR, but why?"

"It's because I found out the girl..."

"Whaaaat? Is it? Who is she?"

"I will tell you later..." Arnav disconnected the call.

He looked at Khushi's photo on his phone screen. He swallowed the gland that choked his throat. That was when something kicked in his mind. AASHI. Khushi had a daughter. Did Khushi marry someone? Did she move on? Of course, he was happy about it. Yet, he could not be, ultimately...! Where was her husband? What was he doing? Why did he let her go to India alone? Khushi told her sister-in-law that she would get revenge on her. Did her husband know about it? Who was he?

Tomorrow was Saturday. Aashi would come to RM. He should try to get information about her father. Arnav decided to collect information about Khushi from Aashi.

Poor him. He didn't think Aashi would be his daughter because he didn't believe a baby could form in a single attempt.

To be continued...
