Part 44 Answer

Khushi felt terrible to see Arnav, who was not at fault, so vulnerable. She came to her room and locked the door. Aman proposed to her for marriage. It was not right. She didn't want him to marry Sheetal because she would not deserve a gentleman like Aman. It didn't mean Aman should marry her. It was a humbug.

Why would she marry Aman instead of Arnav, her daughter's father, if she considered her marriage?

RM

After the pooja, Ratna turned behind and found Arnav standing. Ratna kept the plate down, looking at his restless face.

"Chotte, are you alright?"

"Where were you, Mom?" He asked wearily.

"Where did I go? I'm here only..." She said casually.

"No... You were not her when Aman came..."

"Aman?"

"Khushi's ex- fiancé..."

"Why did he come here?"

"To meet Khushi... To purpose her for wedding..."

"Whaaat? What did you do?"

"What could I do when he spoke to Khushi?"

"Did he propose to her?"

Arnav nodded yes.

"Were you quiet? Why didn't you break his teeth?"

"Mom, he was here to meet Khushi. What will happen if I break his teeth? Khushi may leave RM for insulting her friend..."

"But, he didn't come here as her friend..."

"It doesn't matter. He could have met her somewhere else, too. We can't stop him from meeting her. The matter is, his proposal..."

"What did Khushi say?"

"He didn't give her a chance to say anything. He wants her to think, taking time..." Arnav sighed.

Ratna was furious.

"Mom, do you feel helpless?"

She looked at him sharply.

"Why do I feel helpless? What had happened to feel helpless? Nothing has happened yet. She hasn't agreed to marry Aman yet. So we still have a chance. We will fight till the end. And most probably, Aashi is our support. I strongly believe Khushi would consider her."

Ratna looked at Arnav, who was hopeless.

"By the way, where is the real ASR? He won't feel helpless like you..."

"What do you want me to do, Mom? You know the depth of the matter. I am a culprit..."

Cutting him,

"No, you are a victim... Just like Khushi"

"Maybe, but who is the ultimate loser? Khushi! I didn't face such a phase in my life like she did. She lost everything because of me..."

"No, it's not because of you. You didn't spike her drink. They were her family members. She ended up in your room. Unfortunately, you were also spiked. So you both were not wrong..."

"Mom, you are advocating for me because you are my mother. Will you say the same if Khushi is your daughter?"

Ratna smiled sarcastically.

"If I had been Khushi's mother, I would have thanked God for making her end up in your room, who is regretting his deed and trying to make it right."

"Mom..."

"Unnecessarily thinking and bothering about her decision, wait until she decides..."

They saw Aashi coming with her school bag to do her homework. Arnav went to her and started helping her to complete her work.

......

Night

As usual, Ratna came to Khushi's room and saw her in deep thought. She knocked on the door. Khushi stood up from the bed.

"The dinner is ready." She kept the plate on the table.

"I know you feel awkward facing Chotte. That's why I brought your dinner here," Ratna said.

Khushi looked at her without replying. Ratna was supposed to leave, but Khushi stopped her.

"Thanks, Aunty..."

"I, too, want to thank you..."

"For what, Aunty?"

"For accepting my son..."

Khushi looked at her perplexed.

"I will thank you for my whole life if you accept my son." She paused for a while and continued.

"Beta, any girl in your position would be confused. You met Chotte even before the revelation of the truth. Just think about how he treated you then and what happened afterwards. Don't you see possessiveness in him when your house owner tried to misbehave with you? Didn't he beat him to death, seeing blood on Aashi's forehead? He acted exactly like a husband as well as a father. What else do you need in your partner, Khushi?"

"I didn't expect anything from my partner, Aunty. In fact, I don't expect a partner at all."

"Chotte asked me, seeing me taking his side over you. He asked if I talk the same if you are my daughter..."

Khushi widened her eyes in surprise.

"I said if I had been your mother, I would have thanked God for making you end up in Arnav's room, who is regretting his deed and trying to make it right...! Do you think I'm wrong?"

"Aunty, it's not about Arnav is regretting or not..."

"What would have happened if your sister-in-law's plan succeeded? Do you think her brother would have been regretted like Arnav?"

Khushi was silent. Regretting and Pramod? Thinking about him boiled her blood. He could not even be addressed as a human. He and his sisters were such barbarians.

"Okay, I don't want to bore you, but I will wait for your good answer." Ratna smiled and left the place, not giving Khushi a chance to deny her.

Arnav raised his brows in a questioning manner. Ratna gestured, 'She will eat.'

The next Morning

Khushi came to her room after dropping Aashi. Arnav saw her not leaving RM and sighed in relief. She came downstairs, getting ready at the regular time. Arnav hurriedly ate breakfast and left the table, not wanting to embarrass her. When Khushi came downstairs, Arnav was not there. Ratna smiled at her.

"Khushi, I prepare aloo poori today..."

"Aashi told me, aunty."

"You like it, right?"

Khushi nodded.

"I packed your breakfast. Please have it."

Khushi nodded and took it.

"Shall I ask Chotte to drop you?"

Khushi stood hesitatingly for a while, then nodded and walked out. Ratna smiled brightly and looked at Arnav, who had just descended the stairs.

"Chotte, go and drop Khushi..." She said gladly.

Arnav stood staring at Khushi with an unbelievable expression.

"What are you waiting for? Go..." Ratna shouted.

Arnav rushed out. Before Khushi opened the door, he opened it for her. Khushi sat and secured herself with the seatbelts. Arnav started the car. He didn't know if he could talk to Khushi. What if she refused to take a lift in his car again? Or what if she expected him to speak to her? What would he do now? He glanced at her, who was looking out. But, as he didn't expect, Khushi herself talked.

"You and your mother are thinking I'm taking time to decide. Yes, I'm taking a long because it's you..."

Arnav looked at her shockingly. What did she mean? Would she decide easily if it was someone?

"I would have decided easily if it's not you... I would have walked away after slapping him hard..." She stopped, and Arnav gulped down.

"I could not do it because it's you." She chocked.

Arnav looked at her miserably and said,

"If your mind will be cool if you slapped me, just do it..."

Khushi closed her face with her palms.

"Please don't kill me with your kindness, Arnav. Until the truth was revealed, the man who ruined my life was the one I hated the most. Until the truth was revealed, you were the only one I liked the most. But... both are the same..."

Arnav felt terrible for her.

"Ok... don't confuse yourself. Be relaxed. I won't talk to you about your decision anymore. But, remember one thing. I will always be waiting for you. I have an obligation. If you compare my bad and good deeds once and realise who I am, I will be glad."

Arnav stopped the car before the clinic and forwarded a tissue paper. Khushi didn't deny it. Taking it, she wiped her face. She got down and walked, thinking about what Arnav said. He wanted her to compare his good and bad deeds. Except for the one mistake, what evil deed of him could she count? Could she? No way... but his good deeds? Was not it a big list? If Arnav was not there for her, what would her condition be? He stood for her. He fulfilled all his duties. He gave his best to be a good father. What not? She took a deep breath.

Khushi came to her cabin and sat. She took her mobile to call Aman. She didn't know if he still had his old number. Yet, she tried. Fortunately, she heard a ring. She waited, and Aman attended the call who was driving the car.

"Hello, who is this?" He asked, as he didn't have her new number.

"Khushi speaking..."

Aman pulled the break.

"Khushi...? Is it you? Did you get my number from Arnav, or do you still remember my number?" he asked excitedly.

"I do remember..."

"That's great..."

"Yes, I do. Yet, I didn't feel like calling you ever before because Arnav is right. I was unsure about your trust in me. That's why I didn't contact you..."

Aman was silent.

"I don't want this issue to be dragged. That's why I called you..."

"Khushi, I told you to take time and..."

Cutting him,

"No matter how long I take, my answer will be the same. I will not marry you..."

"Why can't you?"

"You didn't understand. I didn't say, I can't. I said I will not. I can marry you if I wish, but I won't. That's why I said I will not..."

"But why? Why won't you marry me? Do you think I will taunt you?"

"Sorry, Doctor, I didn't think about this issue to that extent. Marrying you is not at all in my mind. So, there is no chance for me to think about your taunt."

"Will you be like this forever?" Amana asked. He was dumbfounded hearing her reply.

"I and Aashi are safe in Arnav's shadow. She is happy with him. I don't want to think more than that."

To be continued...
