54 Killing Guilty
Part 54 Killing Guilty
Khushi was observing Arnav without his knowledge. She looked so casual and didn't show any gestures on her face. Aashi was telling Ratna about the parents' meeting. Aashi, talking to Ratna with actions, moved back and banged on Khushi's door. She looked at Khushi and giggled. Khushi made her stand straight, smiling.
"Guys, let's have dinner... come..." Ratna said.
All of them went to the dining room. Khushi tied her hair into a bun while walking to the dining table. While she tied her hair, the string of her blouse was open. Or, she intentionally untied it...!
A bunch of hair strands on the right side of her face gave her a hot look. Arnav was suffocating to face her petite figure wrapped in a black saree. She tried to take the water jug. When she did that, Arnav saw her back and the untied string. As she was wearing a heavy designer saree, the blouse that had lost its grip started slipping from her shoulder, revealing the bra stripe. Arnav caressed his face with his fingertip, unable to tell her that.
After the dinner, Aashi went to Ratna's room as usual, and Arnav headed to his room. He made sure Khushi was following him. Khushi came to their room and took her purse from the bedside table.
"Arnav, I will just come," she said.
"Where are you going at this time?" He asked, looking at the purse in her hand.
"I'm going to the shopping centre opposite RM."
"But why?"
"I usually present something to Aashi if she gets credit from her teacher. I'm going to buy a gift for her."
"You could have done that earlier... we returned from school in the early evening..." he said softly.
"I just want to surprise her. That's why I waited. She would be listening to a story from Maji now. I will surprise her with a gift."
"Ok, I will go. You get change."
"But why?"
"I will get a gift."
"Why shouldn't I go, Arnav?"
Arnav rolled his eyes, and Khushi bit her inner lip so as not to smile. He was suffocated to speak.
"What's wrong, Arnav?"
"The string..."
"String? What string?"
"Blouse..."
"Blouse? What are you trying to say?" She sulked with a smile.
"Your blouse string is open..."
"Oh..." She looked at the mirror behind her. She saw Arnav also looking at her back through the mirror.
"To tell me this, why do you struggle?" she asked.
Arnav switched his gaze.
She tried to take the strings from either side but could not... or she might not have intentionally taken them.
"Didn't you sense your blouse slipping from your shoulder? Concentrate on your clothes' condition, Khushi..." he asked.
"I would be conscious about my dressing when I'm out of the home. When I'm at home, I would like to be free..." she said.
Arnav nodded.
"Is this why you didn't want me to go shopping?"
Arnav nodded yes.
"You could have asked me to go after tying the knot..."
She moved to him, making him perplexed.
"When you are so concerned about my blouse strings, you could have tied it too..."
She moved closer.
"Tie it..." she said, husky, making him gulp.
Arnav looked at her, who was standing at a few inches' distance.
"I said, tie it."
He should hug her if he wanted to tie it because Khushi stood facing him. He tried to take the strings, looking at her. While doing that, his fingertips caressed her back, making her flinch. She closed her eyes, panting hard. Arnav tried to tie the knot, inhaling her fragrance, which made him dizzy. He spread his palms on her back while caressing her cheek with his. Her soft skin made him senseless. His hands travelled down and unhooked her blouse. He fell on the bed, taking her with him. Flipping her on the bed, he leaned towards her to capture her lips, closing his eyes.
The darkness of his closed eyes reminded him of the dark day. He opened his eyes, jerking, and looked at Khushi, who was lying underneath him. He could not stop thinking about those words Khushi uttered that day. He sat on the bed and covered his face with his palms.
Khushi felt his detachment and saw him sitting, closing his face. She sat on the bed and touched his shoulder.
"Arnav..."
Arnav stood up from the bed and went to the closet. Taking his casuals, he went to the washroom. Khushi looked at him, frowning. She understood the problem was more severe than she thought. She quickly decided what to do. She waited to see what he would do after leaving the washroom.
When she heard the clicking sound, she held her nose bridge, closing her eyes. Arnav gulped down, seeing her. Her blouse was still unhooked. He went to the sofa and sat on it. Khushi got out of bed and went to the washroom. She didn't even close the door. Arnav saw that and was confused because she hadn't removed her clothes. He heard a shower falling. He slowly moved to the washroom and peeped. He saw Khushi standing under the shower. Of course, to cool her nerves down. He gripped his jaws in helplessness. He made her blood heat up.
After a while, she turned the shower off. When Khushi removed her wet saree, Arnav took a step back. He rushed to the sofa and sat again. His heart raced thinking about her present state.
Khushi came out of the washroom, wrapping a towel. She wiped her hair, sitting before the dressing table. Then, she dried her hair with the blower. While doing that, she observed Arnav, who was suffocating on the sofa, through the mirror. Getting into the casual dress, she switched the lights off and lay on the bed.
Neither of them slept. Khushi's mind whirled with thoughts. It was a problem like walking on eggs. She didn't know how she would get him rid of the guilt. She should make him talk about it first.
The next morning
Arnav took a bath and left the room before Khushi woke up. He came downstairs and went to Ratna's room. Ratna was not there, but he didn't mind and went to bed. He lay beside Aashi and closed his eyes. He was guiltier than before. He didn't know how he would manage things between him and Khushi. He didn't understand why he could not come out of the DARK day's memories. He married the same girl, yet he could not forget it. He didn't know why. It was hell to be useless. He thought for a while and opened his eyes as he got an idea. He decided to meet a psychiatrist.
In the meantime,
Khushi woke up and didn't find Arnav in the room. She might expect it. She got down from the bed and walked to the washroom.
She came downstairs. Arnav was not there, either. She guessed where he would be and headed to Ratna's room. As she expected, Arnav was lying next to Aashi on the bed. He sat, seeing Khushi. She reacted like he was not there. She tapped Aashi's cheek slowly.
"Aashi, wake up..."
Aashi stretched her body and smiled brightly, seeing her parents.
"You are getting late. Come on..." Khushi didn't look at Arnav; he was looking only at her.
Aashi nodded and got off the bed. She went to their room to get fresh. Khushi followed her. Arnav became nervous. He understood she was angry with him. He heated her feelings, and to add to it, he did not even give her the reason for his weird action.
Aashi was ready to go to school. Khushi fed her breakfast and took her to the bus. Arnav accompanied them. He looked closely at Khushi, but she didn't care about him. She waved her hand at Aashi and came inside.
"Khushi beta, take coffee"
"Thank you, Maji."
Khushi took it and sipped.
"Mmm... good coffee"
"Thank you"
"Chotte, you too take it."
Taking a cup, Arnav sipped it, glancing at Khushi.
"Maji, I have to go to the clinic for an hour," Khushi said.
Arnav looked at her and then at Ratna.
"It's just for an hour. I will be back."
Ratna nodded without a choice. Khushi went to her room and got ready. When she came out, she saw Arnav waiting.
"I will drive," he said.
"No, Arnav... you carry on" She walked.
Arnav stood in confusion. What did she mean, CARRY ON? Did she want him to go to the office? Didn't she say she would think he was not interested in the marriage if he went to the office? He didn't even consider attending the office to prove he was interested in the wedding. He knew she was upset with him, but not to this extent, which made him nervous.
He removed his phone and called Payal. She attended the call.
"Hello, Mr. Groom... how are you doing?"
"How could I be okay if you called my wife to the clinic?"
"Whaaat? Who said I called your wife?"
"Didn't you call her?" Arnav asked.
"How would I call her? Don't I know you guys were married just two days ago?"
Arnav gulped down.
"I... just..."
"Is everything all right, Arnav?"
"Yeah... bye..."
Arnav disconnected the call restlessly. Payal didn't call Khushi, but she went to the clinic... only to avoid him, he supposed.
To be continued...
