38 Shocking Shashi
Part 38 Shocking Shashi
The next day
Khushi started to the college thinking about Arnav. She was cautious about their relationship progress. He was inferior. Even a single wrong word from her would hurt him. So, she decided to lift him up with her words.
Arnav saw Khushi entering the class. He looked at the book that was in his hand with a mild smile. Yet he stole her glances. He could say she was upset. Her face let out disappointment.
"Khushi, after the college hour, we are going to the temple today... Will you join us?" Lavanya asked.
"Look... I'm already out of the mood... Especially, upset with God... Don't fuel into my frustration" Khushi said.
"What happened, Khushi?"
"Leave it"
Khushi saw Arnav looking at the book frowning. She knew he was listening to their talks. She came to their desk and sat next to him. Arnav looked at her turning his head.
"What happened? Why are you looking upset?"
"Because I'm upset"
"Why?"
"Nothing is happening as per my wish. I never asked God anything for me. I just asked only one thing... That too for the first time but God didn't sanction it" she said feeling sad.
"That's why you don't want to go to the temple?"
"Don't ask me about it... It makes me irritated. If my wish had come true, I would have gone to the temple with them. But God stopped me from going to the temple, not giving me what I wanted"
"What do you want? Tell me... I will try if I can"
"You tried..." She said controlling her smile.
Arnav frowned.
"Me? I don't even know what you asked for..."
"You gave a HARD TRY... But it didn't click... That's why I'm upset"
"What are you talking about? I didn't get you"
"I asked for a baby" she whispered making him shocked.
He looked at her as if she was an out-space creature.
"I thought I would get pregnant by your sincere attempts but, I had my periods this morning..." She said frustrated.
Arnav didn't know what to say. He gazed at her not understanding anything. She should have felt relieved for having her periods. Instead, she was upset.
"I would have trapped you if I had gotten pregnant. Yet, don't think you escaped from me..."
Arnav blinked his eyes gulping down. He and escaping from her? Why would he think of escaping from her? She was his treasure land!
"This is not funny..." He said.
"Who is making fun? I don't know when your weird mind changes. I thought you would consider me if you became a father"
"I have no reason to go away from you. Not just because we shared everything... It's because I want to share everything with you for my entire life"
Khushi smiled.
"Really?"
Arnav blinked his eyes.
"But when I came to your house, you asked me to leave your house..."
"It was my bad choice of words... I was restless after uttering them because I was scared that you would obey me. Thank God, you didn't. Those two days are the unforgettable beautiful days of my life... You don't know what change it brought to my life"
He saw her smiling at him. She softly clutched his palm. Arnav pressed it and asked,
"Were not you really scared?"
"Shall I tell you the truth?"
Arnav nodded yes.
"I was scared like hell... But, you were so gentle and made me enjoy your company"
Arnav tightened his jaws, thinking about the moment. He longed it to happen again... every day... every time he wished it... without caring about anything... without caring about anyone... He wanted to have it.
Khushi sensed the rising heat of his body. His hand which was at the normal temperature a few seconds ago became heat. She knew what was there in his mind.
"I'm not talking about it... what if you had got pregnant?"
"I would have become a mother... what would YOU(stressing) have done?"
"I would have done what you want me to do..."
Khushi smiled.
"Will...you...marry me?" He asked stammering.
"Shall we marry after three days?" She asked making him bewildered.
She chuckled seeing his facial expression.
"What you seek lies in front of you"
He smiled.
"May I ask you something?" she asked.
Arnav nodded yes.
"Will our children also be a werewolf?" she asked hesitatingly.
Arnav nodded no firmly which wondered Khushi.
"They will not be a werewolf"
"But, I read..."
Cutting here,
"They won't... trust me"
"How are you so confident?"
"It's like that" he smiled.
Khushi looked at him with confusion.
"That's why I intimated with you"
"I can't understand what you say"
"You will understand it soon"
"It's because you are cursed and not a born werewolf, right?"
Arnav smiled. Though Khushi could not understand anything she trusted Arnav. So, she didn't nag him more.
"The whole night I was thinking about how we both slept on the same bed and what happened before and after that..."
Arnav smiled.
"As I thought, you are not so innocent..." She teased that brightened his smile.
"I don't know what made you think I'm innocent" Arnav folded his lip.
"I think this face of yours would have made me think so"
He looked at her with a lopsided smile.
"You are my sweetheart..." he said lovingly.
"I know... you told me that after we intimated" she said proudly.
Arnav pressed his lips smiling. Khushi entwined her fingers with his sweetly.
.........
Aman submitted the autopsy report of the Wolf Baba to the inspector. The inspector read the report. It was a natural death.
"I will send this report to the SP sir"
"Sir, there are a few aspects that we should concentrate on, sir" Aman said.
"This is a natural death. What's there to concentrate on?"
"We found a gun with silver bullets in the cave in which he lived, sir"
"Silver bullets?"
"Yes, sir"
"Any assumptions?"
"Yes, sir, but it will sound idiotic"
"Means?" The inspector leaned on his seat.
"The silver bullets are used to kill werewolves..."
"Werewolf? What do you mean? Are werewolves existing? Are not they fictional creatures?"
"Until we see in front of your eyes, anything would be a myth, sir"
"Then, how did your assumption go to the werewolves?"
"A few days ago, a man was killed by a wild animal in the reserve forest but the doctors who did the post-mortem could not find which animal killed him."
"So?"
"It was a full moon day... the werewolves would be aggressive in the full moon night. And, the man who protected the wolves like his kids had a gun with silver bullets. I suspect, he must have known about the existence of the werewolf. That's what made him keep the silver bullet gun with him, I suppose"
"Aman, this is not making sense... how do I tell this story to the SP sir? He will laugh at me"
"If you allow me, I will tell him, sir"
"Do you really think this all would be true?"
"I don't know sir...but, there is no single clue in the murder case. The forensic officers found a few footprints near the dead body which didn't fit with any wild animal. What's that mean sir? More than that, people from the man's family is silent. They are not showing interest in the progress of the case. That makes me suspect them, sir. I want your permission to inquire them regarding..."
The inspector sighed.
"Do one thing. I will go to Coimbatore in the afternoon. Before that, I will tell SP about you..."
Aman looked at him oddly.
"I'm not coming with you because I don't want to be taunted by SP" He chuckled.
Aman blinked his eyes.
"I will meet him, sir," Aman said stubbornly.
"Ok..." The inspector sighed.
SP office
Aman waited outside Shashi Gupta's cabin. He was called inside. Aman went to Shashi's cabin with the case file and saluted him. Shashi nodded his head.
"Why do you want to meet me?" Shashi asked.
"I want to talk to you about a sensitive case, sir"
"Sensitive case?"
"Yes, sir... you may think it's illogic but the symptoms say there are possibilities"
"Tell me clearly"
"A few days ago a man was found dead in the reserve forest, sir. The post-mortem report states he must have been attacked by a wild animal but no evidence had been found to confirm which animal attacked him..."
"Oh..."
"He died on a Full Moon day, sir..."
"So?"
"I suspect a werewolf might have killed him"
"Whaaat? Werewolf? This is highly idiotic" There was a restlessness in Shashi's face. He gulped down hard.
"Yesterday, a man died in some other place of the same reserve forest, sir"
"Was he also attacked by an animal?"
"No sir, it was a natural death. Doctors confirmed it. The man was called WOLF BABA as he roamed with wolves always."
"With wolves? What did he look like?
"He looked like an Aghori"
Shashi was horrified.
"Whaaat? Aghori?"
"Yes, sir..." Aman kept the file in front of him.
Shashi opened the file hurriedly and saw the photos in the file. He was shocked to see his father's photographs in the file.
To be continued...
