Waves
Waves crashed against me on all sides. I faintly heard someone yell, "Hold on! We're coming!" before disappearing under the surface. I bobbed up and down, catching glimpses of a medium sized boat. I screamed as a wave capsized the ship. "No!" I cried, being swept down my the current. I was sucked under and water filled my lungs. I coughed and gulped up more salty death. I reached my hand out to the surface, my finger touching the air just as I lost consciousness.
I woke up in cold sweat. It was still around 3 a.m. and the night were off. I turned on the lamp next to me and squinted. Dim blue lights illuminated the empty halls. I grabbed my knife, putting it on my belt, before stepping out into the corridors. I stuffed my hands into my pockets and sighed. I stumbled along the passages. Coulson was leaning against the wall in one of the hallways, eyes closed and head tilted toward the ceiling. I wasn't entirely aware that I was heading towards him. I ended up just standing next to him, starting to lean into the stone. He opened one eye. "Couldn't sleep?" He asked. I shook my head. "Bad dreams. I've had the same exact dream for months, but every night it gets worse and more vivid. It's the last bit of memory I have left from before I was reborn as Arielle Phoenix. The only clues I have are a burnt piece of paper with part of a name and part of a ship name that was nearby when I drowned, but capsized. I just drowned, then woke up with my dagger and that piece of paper." He nodded. I started humming a familiar tune. I didn't know the words, but it made me feel safe. Coulson eyed me, peering into my eyes. "If you don't remember, how can you know any songs?" I shrugged. "I just know it. Do you ever forget something but yet it seems so familiar?" He nodded. "After I died, they replaced my memories with a vacation scene. I ended up on one hell of a journey to recover those memories, which turned Daisy into an Inhuman." I fingers my necklace. Coulson and I talked for a while before he went back to bed. I stayed up all night, just standing in that hallway. I was in the training arena before Daisy.
"Let's get started, shall we?"
