Epilogue
Baby Anu started going to school. As Arnav and Khushi expected, she didn't wish to have a sibling because she was happy with her parents. She liked their company. Arnav used to come home at 6′o clock sharp every day. So, she didn't need a sibling to entertain her.
Anu didn't need a sibling, it didn't mean our Arnav and Khushi would be doing nothing. They strictly avoided making love in the presence of baby Anu. Arnav spent his time for himself as same as he spent for baby Anu.
One day,
As usual, Arnav stepped into RM sharp 6o' clock. He saw Khushi pacing in their room. Arnav looked here and there for Anu who usually would rush to him when he entered RM.
"Where is Anu?" Arnav asked.
"She is in Gupta house"
"Oh... Did your parents come?"
"No... I called them"
"Anything serious?"
Khushi nodded yes.
"What happened?"
"We are in serious trouble Arnavji," she said worriedly.
"Tell me the matter"
"I'm pregnant" she bit her nail.
Arnav got stuck for a while and composed himself. Lifting her in his arms, he rotated her in the air. He kissed her cheek strongly.
"What happy news...! How could you call it trouble?"
"I think your mind is not working"
"Why?"
"Anu doesn't seem to be interested to have a sibling. Don't we know how possessive she is? What if she doesn't accept a newcomer into her small world?"
Arnav became thoughtful. What Khushi said was not an exaggeration. Anu was the cleverest child he had ever seen. If she fixed her mind on something, it won't be easy to change her mind. This issue should be handled wisely.
Taking plenty of time, Arnav thought. Thank God, Anu was not at home. Or else, he would not have gotten it this time. He dragged Khushi into a tight hug, making her shocked.
"What are you doing?"
"Usually, we make love in Anu's absence... That's what I'm going to do now"
Khushi dropped her jaw.
"You are crazy"
"Yeah... That's me"
"Arnavji..."
"Sh... We will think about anything later. Not now" he seized her lips and stopped her from talking.
After finishing the session, Arnav thought deeply, having Khushi on his chest. He kissed her forehead.
"I'm so happy you know"
"Mmm"
"I wanted to give whatever you missed in the previous maternity period"
"What about after that?"
"Relax... It's not that hard to handle a kid"
"But, she is YOUR kid..."
"Leave it to me... I will take care of her"
Khushi sighed.
Anu came to RM in the late evening with Shashi. He dropped her in RM and left as he had important work.
"Va dhaaa..." Anu rushed to him.
Arnav lifted her and throw her in the air, making her giggle.
"Where was my baby?"
"Went to visit your in-laws" she winked.
Arnav chuckled.
"What my in-laws said?"
"They asked me to take care of their daughter"
"Oh... really?"
"Really..."
"Khushi, did Anu call you?" Arnav asked.
"No Arnavji..."
"Va dha... Auuuu" Anu pointed at herself and giggled.
When NK visited Delhi with Anu last time, he teased baby Anu, telling her about how she demanded the name ANU for only herself. That was what she remembered now. Arnav laughed.
"Khushi, it's been two months since we met Anu. I would like to see her. Shall we go to Mumbai this weekend?"
"Sure Arnavji..."
"I can't be without seeing my sister..." Arnav said, making a sad face, gesturing something to Khushi.
Being a smart wife, Khushi understood Arnav's point and caught it.
"Anu is so lucky to have a brother like you, Arnavji. Look at me... I have no siblings. I have no one to think about me" Khushi said sadly.
"Nanu and Nani are there, Mumma..." Anu said.
"Yes... but, I can't share everything with them. When I was a small girl, I was happy with my parents because they kept me happy always. My Babuji spent his time with me just like, Arnavji spent with you but now, I wish, I have a sister or brother to share my happiness. See, how Arnavji is thinking about Anu..."
"You are right, Khushi. Anu was the only support to me. If she was not there for me, I don't know what I would have done all alone" Arnav said the truth.
Anu became silent. Arnav and Khushi didn't talk after that. Anu was a kid, after all, they didn't want to stuff anything more in her mind.
Night
Anu was lying between Arnav and Khushi on the bed. She turned towards Arnav and put her leg on him.
"Va dha..."
"Mmm?"
"Why don't I have a sibling?" Anu asked.
Arnav looked at Khushi whose face literally lit.
"It's because you are our dear daughter. We don't need another one"
"What if I want a brother or sister when I became a big girl?"
"Mmm... yeah... you may think so"
"Can't I have a sister or brother?"
"You don't have siblings. It doesn't mean you can't have..."
"Could I have one?"
"Do you want to have one?"
"Mmm... then only I will get one to think about me just like you think about Bua"
"Yeah... but, I have no time to look after another child, beta... and Mumma also has no time..."
"Then, I will take care of him"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes... I will take care of my brother"
"What if the kid is a girl?"
"I will take care of her too"
"What do you think, Khushi? Anu is so interested to have a brother or sister. Are you fine with it?"
"If Anu wants it... how can we disappoint her?" Khushi said making a serious face.
"Thank you, Mumma... when will my sibling come?"
"In nine months..."
"I will become a big girl at that time. So, I will look after him" Anu said.
"Yeah... you can" Arnav kissed her.
Khushi huffed in relief. Arnav raised his brows proudly.
Arnav and Khushi started counting the days until the baby's arrival. More than them, Anu was excited to get a sibling who was going to be her supporter.
As Arnav said, he fulfilled all Khushi's needs in an attempt of pleasing her. Khushi enjoyed her maternity to the fullest. Arnav took Anu's responsibility on his shoulders. Being a good kid, Anu didn't trouble Khushi but dealt with only Arnav.
One week before Khushi's due date, NK and Anu came to Delhi with Manorama to be with Arnav. On the other side, Guptas were adamant to be with Khushi. Though all of them came for Arnav and Khushi's help they spent time with Anu as she started talking so meaningfully.
At last, Khushi delivered a boy baby. The child was given to Arnav. Arnav showed the child to Anu, bending down. Anu caressed his cheek with her index finger.
"He is like a sponge" she smiled.
"My son, she is your sister. She is the one who is going to take care of you" Arnav said.
By luck, the kid slightly smiled in his sleep.
"Va dha... he is smiling"
"It's because he is happy as he got a lovable sister"
"Does he like me?" Anu asked.
"Of course, more than anyone"
There was a prideful smile on her face. The smile would always be staying on her face. As she promised, Anu never missed taking care of her brother. She did that with concern and also with happiness. Of course, it was an eye wash... Arnav and Khushi made her believe that she was the one who was taking care of the kid. They made her feel superior at the same time, they didn't hesitate to make her understand what should not be done with the kid. Arnav gave her the responsibility of choosing a good name for the kid. Anu named him KRISH as she was attracted to Lord Krishna by listening to his stories from Garima.
Arnav and Khushi felt relieved as Anu was not tough as they expected. They were satisfied as they got whatever they missed in the DARK one year. Arnav and Khushi continued their life journey with Anu and Krish full of satisfaction.
