Summer Love

Based off Summer Love by One Direction

Can't believe you're, packing your bags

"Scott, I really don't want you to leave." Mitch whimpered, holding back the waterfalls of tears.

"I know, Mitchie. Me either, but I have to, honey." Scott answered as he placed a framed photo of him and Mitch in his bag before zipping it up.

Trying so hard not to cry

"I don't think I can hold the tears in anymore." Mitch said softly with a hoarse voice.

A single tear escaped from his eye and rolled down his cheek. Scott reached over and wiped the small tear away with his thumb as his hand rested on the side of Mitch's face.

Had the best time, and now it's the worst time

"I really enjoyed this summer, blondie." Mitch admitted with a small smile as he looked up at Scott with innocent and tearful eyes.

"Mitchie, I really dreaded this summer, but after spilling my milkshake on you at the beach I knew that it all was going to be better from then on." Scott chuckled at the memory.

But we have to say goodbye

"That was fun. I can't believe we've bonded so much, but now we have to say goodbye. As much as I don't want to, we have to. Scott you're leaving me!" Mitch punched his small clenched fists against Scott broad chest.

He was becoming weak and his knees were on the verge of bucking under his weight.

Don't promise that you're gonna write

"Mitchie, we'll still keep in touch."

"NO! We will not! That's going to bring back memories and I can't deal with that because I'll be a crying mess. I'll miss you so much. We can't!"

"But-"

"No. I'm sorry." Mitch looked away and gently pushed Scott away from him to stand by the window.

Don't promise that you'll call
Just promise that you won't forget we had it all

"Just promise me to not forget me." Mitch said as he rested his hands on the window ledge and refused to make eye contact with Scott, instead stared out the window as the waves crashed against the rocks and sand.

Cause you were mine for the summer

"I would never forget you. I'll have the pictures up in my room to remind me of you and our summer love whilst in in London, baby."

"I hate you so much right now. You weren't supposed to leave! I hate your parents for making you move. I hate everyone. I hate life. It's lost all it's sense now that I can't be with the person I love. I finally found love."

Now we know it's nearly over

Scott wrapped his arms around Mitch's waist from behind and rested his chin on his shoulder.

"I hate everything too, Mitchie. But we'll see each other again very soon."

"Don't say that! I was only your summer love. You'll go find another guy- better than me and be happy with him. I'll just remain as a part of your history."

Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember

"I will make sure that we will see each other again. Even if it means that I have to fly over and spend all my pocket money on plane tickets."

Scott nuzzled his nose in Mitch's neck and kissed the spot behind his ear.

You were my summer love
You always will be my summer love

"We still have some time before I leave. Want to go out? Get some ice cream and go for a walk down the pier?" Scott asked, wanting to spend some last moment with Mitch.

"Sure. But that doesn't make me any less sad or mad."

Wish that we could be alone now
We could have some place to hide

They walked out the house and down to the ice cream parlor nearby. Scott reached over to hold Mitch's hand in his for what maybe was the last time.

Make the time last, just like the first time

Down by the pier, Mitch stood at the edge looking out into the horizon, his arms wrapped around himself and silently crying.

Scott took his phone out and snapped a quick picture. Make the moment last, he thought.

He couldn't bare standing there and looking at Mitch. He walked over and hugged him, he nudged his face with his hand and forced Mitch to look at him.

"Can I kiss you?" Scott asked.

Mitch looked up, the hot tears rolling down his cheeks and nodded, not being able to form words.

Push a button and rewind
Don't say the word that's on your lips

Scott leaned forward and pressed his lips to Mitch, tasting the mint ice cream and strawberry Chapstick.

Just like the first time, they both thought.

In that moment the sun hid and the Sky became a darker color. Raindrops dropped from the Sky like the tears from Mitch's eyes.

Don't look at me that way
Just promise you'll remember when the Sky is grey

"I guess it's time for us to get back. Your parents are probably looking for you." Mitch said and took off walking.

"Sure." Scott mumbled more to himself and the air around him than to Mitch.

He walked behind Mitch until he caught up.

They got to Mitch's house and Scott's  parents were talking to the Grassis.

Cause you were mine, for the summer
Now we know it's nearly over

"I'm gonna miss you, Mitchie." Scott whispered.

"Don't say that. You will not! You will move on with your life." Mitch retorted.

"Mitch, honey, are you okay?" Connie rushed over and wrapped his arms around him.

"I would be if you weren't leaving the States." Mitch replied.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. I know you and Scott got along well."

"More than well."

Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember

"Connie, Scott we should get going, I guess. Thank you again Mike for allowing us to stay here the past few days."

You were my summer love
You will always be my, summer love

Scott grabbed ahold of his bags that have been brought down from Mitch's bedroom upstairs.

Mitch wrapped his arms around Scott hastily and didn't want to let go. He cried into Scott shirt leaving wet patches.

So please don't make this any harder
We can't take this any longer

Mike and Nel grabbed ahold of their son and had to pry him off of Scott in order for him to be able to go to the airport.

And I know there's nothing that I want to change, to change

Scott slowly dragged his feet in the direction of the rental car and handed his bags to his dad to put in the trunk when he got there.

He sat himself in the backseat of the car and closed the door.

Scott watched as Mitch stuck to his mom, crying into her shoulder as she hugged him.

Cause you were mine, for the summer
Now we know it's nearly over

Rain once again started pouring from the Sky, but Mitch in that moment did not care one bit.

Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember

Rick sat in the drivers seat and waved at Mike, Nel and Mitch.

Scott rested his hand on the window and looked at Mitch with small tears in his own eyes.

You were my summer love (summer love)
You will always be, my summer love (summer love)
You will always be my summer love (yeah)

Before the car pulled away, Scott and Mitch made eye contact and Scott mouthed,

"You will always be, my summer love."
