The Accident
For somajscomiche
Scott's parents lived about an hour away from his and Mitch's place. Scott thought it would be nice to surprise them by coming over since he has been spending so much time in the studio doing recordings and song writing. His mom's birthday was coming up so he bought her a present and was going to give it to her when he arrived.
He hopped into his black Chevy and started the engine, the radio turned on and he immediately changed the CD to Beyonce. He pulled out the parking lot and rolled down the window, resting his elbow on it. The cool breeze blew on Scott's face as he drove down the highway. Beyonce's voice filled the car and Scott hummed along.
Mitch was driving down the highway from his boyfriend Travis' house. Travis invited Mitch over for dinner and they just spent the whole day together cuddled up, watching movies. Little did Mitch know that Travis was using him but Mitch called it 'love'. Whenever someone told him that Travis was using him, he denied them and said that Travis loved him and that if he was using him then they would have broke it off ages ago.
Scott has been crushing on his best friend for quite a while now. He dropped hints here and there, but Mitch never showed any signs that his love for Scott was returned. Yes they have fake 'kissed' on camera for SuperFruit, but to Mitch it meant nothing. When they said 'I love you' to each other before going to bed, Scott always meant it, however Mitch just said it back without meaning.
Scott had one hand on the steering wheel and the other occupied with this phone, scrolling through his Instagram feed and going nearly 80mph on the highway. He stopped scrolling when he saw a picture of Mitch and Travis cuddled up in bed, Mitch's head resting on Travis' chest and Travis' arms wrapped around Mitch's small frame.
His blood boiled and jealousy filled his body. He threw his phone out the open window and his car accidentally swerved. His car slammed into the side of a black car, Scott was too stressed out to notice that it was Mitch's car he had slammed into.
He sat in his car, frustration was all he was feeling right now. Scott slammed his hands on the steering wheel and thoughts rush around his brain but one stands out. He could have killed someone.
A couple of cars have pulled over to see what had happened and someone dialed 911. Scott got out his car and trudged to the car he had crashed into. He opened the door of the other car to reveal the driver and to his surprise it was his best friend- Mitch. Mitch was sat in the drivers seat, all battered and bruised.
Scott cried in pain and pulled Mitch out of the car. He held Mitch is his lap, sitting on the ground, his back against the demolished car. When the paramedics arrived, they took Mitch from Scott's lap and put him on a gurney and taking him to the ambulance, hooking him up to an IV and placing an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth. A female paramedic insisted to give Scott a ride to the hospital as well to fix him up as well, since he hasn't noticed the airbag burns on his face and arms.
After a few doctors mended Scott's face and arms, he asked for Mitch in the reception.
"Room 279. Third floor." The small red headed woman said.
"Thank you." Scott runs to the nearest elevator and hits the '3' button.
He asked a doctor if he could go in and see Mitch but the doctor said that Mitch still hasn't woken up so Scott waited outside Mitch's hospital room until he woke up.
A doctor opened the door to Mitch's room and said that Scott could go see Mitch since he had woken up.
Scott sat in the uncomfortable plastic chair beside Mitch's bed and takes ahold of his hand, stroking his thumb over his knuckles.
"I'm sorry, Mitchie. I didn't mean it." Scott mumbled, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"He has slight brain damage so he might not remeber some things for before the accident." A tall brunette male doctor in a white lab coat informed Scott.
Mitch had no recollections of Scott. He didn't remember him, or the memories they shared. He stared at Scott with a confused look, he couldn't make out who the guy sat beside him was. He looked familiar but he couldn't figure who it was.
Scott had tears in his eyes and couldn't bare with the fact that his own bestfriend didn't remember him. He had one thing in mind. But Mitch still had a boyfriend. Wait, brain damage so he probably doesn't remember him.
Scott stood up and inched closer to Mitch. He placed a kiss on Mitch's lips.
Mitch, who hasn't said one word since the crash, said one thing:
"Scott."
