Tuition
"Scott!" Kirstie called, running out the classroom.
" Yeah? What's up Kirstie?" Scott asks, turning around and looks at the smaller woman.
" You know Mitch, right?," Scott nods in confirmation. "Well, he's been having problems with chemistry and we all know that its your strong point. So, maybe could you tutor him a little? Please? Kirstie pleads.
"Um, yeah. I guess I could do that. When?" Scott agrees.
"Really? Oh my gosh thankyou so much. Whenever you got time." She jumps up a little.
Not only has Mitch been having problems with chemistry, but also been developing an ongoing crush on Scott for the past several years. So, tuition with Scott would give Mitch the chance to speak to the older man. I mean, they have spoke before but as in like a quick 'sorry' on the corridors. It would give Mitch the chance to maybe tell Scott how he feels. Who knows?
"Tell him to meet me at the back of school after fifth period, okay?" Scott informs Kirstie.
"Yeah sure, I'll make sure he gets the message. Thanks again. I'll see you around." She smiles at him, before turning around and making her way to the cafeteria.
Sitting at the usual table, Mitch finally comes along and plops down facing Kirstie, throwing his bag and books on the seat next to him. Kirstie gives him a look. Mitch looks at the brunette woman with a grumpy face.
"Fucking detention." He mutters under his breath.
"What did you do this time?" Kirstie asks, sighing.
"Not done chemistry homework." Mitch rolls his brown eyes, and running a hand through his silky hair.
"Again? Anyways, speaking of chemistry.. I asked Scott to tutor you." She says, with a grin plastered on her face.
"You did what?!" Mitch whisper-yells, his eyes wide.
Surely, he was excited but then again scared. What if Scott catches him staring and not focusing on the tuition? What if he leaves Scott's house with nothing in his head and fails the next exam and makes Scott feels useless?
"I asked Scott to tutor you. He said to meet him at the back of school after fifth period." She repeats.
"You asked my crush to tutor me?! Kirst, I can't do it. I'll probably just stare at him and not focus. I can't do it." He says, looking down.
"Yes you can Marsbar. It'll be an opportunity for you to talk to him normally and maybe tell him how you feel." Kirstie winks at Mitch.
"Um... okayy. Thanks Kirst. Love you lots." Mitch smiles at the smaller woman.
"Hey, what are bestfriends for Mitchie?" She returns a grin.
With that lunch went by. When the bell rang, signaling the start of fifth period, Mitch gathered his things and headed for Spanish. One of the subjects he enjoys and is particularly good at. After an hour of writing an essay in Spanish, Mitch gathers his stuff and puts on his jacket, he makes his way to the back of school where He is supposed to meet Scott. He is really nervous because he never spoke to Scott face to face, except the times of the corridors saying a quick 'sorry', which was kinda rare.
Mitch finally turns the corner of the building and spots Scott sitting on a low wall.
'H-hi Scott." Mitch stutters.
"Hey Mitch. Ready to go?" Scott greets Mitch with a warm smile.
'Gosh, that killer smile.' Mitch thinks to himself.
"Y-yeah." He answers Scott's question stuttering once more.
They walk to Scott's car and Mitch sits in the passenger seat while Scott drives.
Scott pulls up at his house, and turns the car engine off. Mitch is really, really nervous now. Scott notices Mitch's nervousness and asks,
"Mitch? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I'm just scared that I won't get any of this chemistry.." He answers, looking down.
"It'll be fine, I promise. Now let's go." Scott says, getting out the car.
Mitch slides out the car too, and follows Scott to his house. Scott's parents weren't home so they were alone.. With chemistry books.
Scott leads Mitch into his bedroom and closes the door behind them. His bedroom is simple; painted walls covered in posters, a bed, a desk with a laptop resting on it.
Scott and Mitch sat on Scott's bed for a couple of hours, with Scott explaining to Mitch how chemical reactions happen, how chromatography works and how to remember the split in the periodic table.
"Okay, Mitch so now do you understand how chromatography and solubility graphs work?" Scott asks.
"Yes, thanks so much Scott. For giving up your time on tutor the dumb me." Mitch replies.
"No, don't call yourself dumb, Mitch. You're really smart, its just you need to focus a tiny bit more in lesson." Scott smiles.
"Thanks Scott. Well, looks like I should get going.." Mitch says, standing up.
"Mitch, wait. I need to tell you something.." Scott stops Mitch from leaving.
Mitch stops and turns around to face Scott.
"Okay, well I don't know how to say this, but Mitch I've had the longest crush on you and I was going to ask if you maybe wanted to be my boyfriend?" Scott confesses, blushing a little.
"Yes Scott ! Oh my gosh, yes!" Mitch squeals, jumping up and pulling Scott into a hug.
"I love you Mitch." Scott whispers.
"I love you too Scott." Mitch mutters into Scott's chest.
They hug for what seems like eternity.
"Its getting late, I gotta go but I guess I'll see you in school tomorrow boyfriend." Mitch says, pulling apart.
"I'll walk you home." Scott offers, not letting Mitch out of his grasp.
"Okay." Mitch gives in.
Scott pulls on his jacket, and Mitch gathers his things. They leave Scott's house holding hands. The couple walk down the streets of Arlington late at night, when they reach Mitch's house, Scott places a soft yet meaningful kiss on Mitch's lips.
"Goodnight Mitchie. I'll see you tomorrow." Scott whispers.
"Goodnight Scotty. I'm gonna miss you." Mitch whispers back.
Scott walks back home thinking how lucky he is to be dating the cutest guy in school. While Mitch is lay in bed, thinking how good chemistry tuition can be and be dating the guy he's had a crush on for years.
It was definitely the best chemistry tuition ever.
