You were quiet as you looked at the monitor. What could she possibly want now...?

"She said to meet at the beach..." Nagito uttered.

"I-Is that going to be okay...? I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this," Hajime said.

"Thinking won't solve anything. We can do that after we go to the beach."

"Is that precaution really enough?"

The three of you made your ways to the beach only to see that everyone was already there.

"You guys are the last to arrive. What are you dilly-dallying for?" Byakuya asked, glaring at you three.

"Sorry to keep you all waiting," Nagito said.

"Well, it's all right... More importantly, this is our only chance to talk between ourselves before that rabbit returns."

"Kyahaha! Let's talk!" Hiyoko said enthusiastically.

"Now then, let me hear your initial impressions of this island."

"I happened to notice numerous blocked off bridges on the central island..." Peko said.

"Oh, those are there so everybody doesn't get lost!" Ibuki said, "I tried to cross one of them, and that rabbit showed up and told me, so I'm telling the truth!"

"So we don't get lost...? Is this island really so big?"

"But if you look at it in depth, it's just a normal island, right? It's got a resort and everything!" Kazuichi said, "Well, not that I've been to a resort before, but..."

"Also, there's a biiiiig ranch!" Hiyoko said, cutting Kazuichi off.

"Um... there's also a large supermarket, too... It looks like it stocks everything from food to living amenities," Mikan said.

"The hotel was really nice, too. It'd be great if we can stay there," Mahiru said.

"The restaurant inside the hotel was also very nice. It seemed to cater to a more plebeian taste," Sonia said, too innocent to realize that her words may have been a bit offensive.

"Can you guys listen to what I wanna say, too?" Teruteru asked, "I... found something very important on this island. Girls! Very, very cute girls! Aha! All over the place!"

His words caused you to shutter, a bit from nervousness and a bit from disgust.

"Grooooooss! I'm getting goosebumps!" Ibuki exclaimed.

"All of you are fools... I can't believe nobody has mentioned the most serious truth," Byakuya said.

"... The most serious truth?" Chiaki asked, tilting her head.

"If no one here realized it, you're all bigger fools than I thought."

"What did you say, you fat bastard? Don't be talkin' all big and shit!" Fuyuhiko exclaimed angrily.

"Small dogs shouldn't bark so loud."

"Hey, what's the most serious truth?" Hajime asked him, "Did... did you find something about this island?"

"... Have you all gone to the park that's across this bridge?"

"The park with that weird bronze statue of all those creepy animals, right?"

"When I saw it, I remembered a story I'd heard before. There's an island in the Pacific Ocean, a beautiful island paradise where summer never ends... It consists of a central island surrounded by five different islands... It's also said that five holy animals symbolize each of these surrounding islands."

"Eh...?"

"That island's name is... Jabberwock Island."

"Could this island be...?" Nagito uttered nervously.

"Jabberwock Island?" Hajime followed, "Is that... the name of this island?"

"Still, there is something on my mind," Byakuya said, "In fact, according to what I've heard, Jabberwock Island is already... Never mind..."

"Hold it right there! That's a rather incomplete story you've told us," Nekomaru said.

"No need to shout. I'll let you know once I obtain more information."

"Meh, I don't care what this island's called. Nikoniko Island or Papua Island or whatever..." Akane said, "Doesn't change the fact that we all gotta live here, right?"

"Living together on this island sure is exciiiiting! I'm super looking forward to it!" Ibuki exclaimed.

"Right on! This ain't a bad school at all!" Kazuichi added.

"H-Hey? You guys?" Hajime asked.

"Hmm, I like this island too!" Hiyoko said, completely ignoring Hajime, "... Can't say the same about the rest of you cretins."

"Huh? Did I hear something?" Teruteru asked, his face turning a bit nervous.

"I'm still worried, but I don't feel as worried as I did earlier..." Mahiru uttered, "Yeah, since there's no danger or inconvenience, I feel like this won't be a problem!"

"... What's wrong, Hinata-san...? Didn't you say something...?" You asked, glancing over at Hajime.

"Well, it's just... We need to stay calm and think about this...!" He said, "We're all here to attend Hope's Peak Academy, right? But we're living on an island like this instead... No matter what, it's completely weird!"

"Why don't you stop talking for a while? Go cool your head off or something," Gundham suggested with a smirk.

"... Eh?"

"P-Plus, even if we wanted to leave, there's no way we can..." Teruteru added.

"There's no ship, and the planes are just for show..." Kazuichi said.

"From what I've discovered, there's no way to contact the outside world, either..." Peko said, "In conclusion... it would be impossible to call for help."

"Then, why don't we just swim home?" Akane asked.

"There's no way we can swim that far...!" Mikan replied.

"SHOW SOME SPIRIT!!!" Nekomaru shouted.

"I'm telling you, that's impossible!" Mahiru said sternly.

"Th-Then... what if we cut down some trees and made a raft...?" Hajime suggested.

"Nuh-uh! You can't do that! That's the biggest of no-nos!" Usami said, popping up out of nowhere again, "Please recall the guidelines of this school trip! 'Littering is not allowed. Let us coexist with this land's bountiful nature in mutual prosperity.' Got it? I want everyone to get along and live peacefully on this beautiful tropical island."

"Wh-What's with these rules? Who cares about that...!"

"Stop. This rabbit seems to be rather finicky about these so-called rules," Byakuya said, "Based on that, what if your actions place everyone here in danger?"

"Th-The word 'danger' is a bit much! I wouldn't do something like that!" Usami replied.

"Hinata-san... I understand how you feel, but you need to calm down a little, okay?" Nagito said.

"F-For now... as long as we don't do anything weird, it seems there is no danger..." Mikan said.

"And as long as we gather the Hope Fragments, we'll be able to get off this island soon," Chiaki added.

"Y-You're all just gonna believe that...?" Hajime uttered.

"Well... we don't really have any other choices..." You said.

"She's right. There's no other choice but to believe... for now, that is," Byakuya said.

"Anway, Usami! What's this present you mentioned in your announcement earlier?" Ibuki asked.

"Ah, that's right! Well, of course I didn't forget..." Usami said, "Love! Love! This is it!" She held out each of you a toy that depicted her. "Don't be upset! I've prepared one for you all, so don't worry!"

You looked down at the one in your hand and then at everyone else. They all seemed disappointed. You actually kinda liked it.

"... What is this...?" Nagito asked, the smile on his face not matching his tone.

"Pfft, teehee! It's an Usami Strap! If you squeeze the tummy, it talks."

She pressed the stomach, and it said, "I'm Usami... Magical Miracle Girl ☆ Usami. I'm an itty bitty girl who's sweet like milk!"

"Isn't it cute? Love! Love!"

"... What a waste of time," Byakuya said in irritation."

"Man, and I got my hopes up, too..." Ibuki said, disappointed.

"I'm ashamed I even had my hopes up!" Teruteru said.

"Really? I think it's pretty cute. Especially how the ears look like a rabbit's..." Chiaki said.

"Well, Usami does mean 'rabbit,' you know!" Usami said. Everyone except for you and Chiaki threw their straps on the beach. "Hey! You can't taint nature with trash!"

"See? Even you think they're trash!" Ibuki pointed out.

Usami sadly picked up the straps and looked at you all with a lonely expression on her face.

"Ugh... And I even prepared one more present, too, but now I don't wanna give it to you bad kids..." She weeped.

"Hm? You have something else?" Peko asked.

"Well, compared to the Usami Strap, it's not that big of a deal... Basically, I've prepared a motive for everyone."

"A motive...?" Hajime asked.

"That's right. A motive for everyone to get along. We've come all this way to a tropical island, so I thought it'd be great to do something island-themed."

"Like what? Are you thinkin' of throwin' a huge party or somethin'?" Akane asked.

"Coooorrect!"

"Is it a festival? Or maybe a miniature shrine? How wonderful!" Sonia said excitedly.

"Excuse me, Nevermind-san," Teruteru said, "My loins are still full of poison, and I'd appreciate it if you could suck it out with your mouth."

"Knock it off, Teruteru!" Nagito said.

"Oh, your tenderloins? You betcha," Sonia said innocently.

"Just ignore him, Nevermind-san!"

"If we're talking about fun parties on a tropical island, maybe it should be a barbecue or something?" Ibuki suggested.

"Ah, a campfire sounds fun, too," Mahiru added.

"Let's find a hoop snake and kill it!" Hiyoko said enthusiastically, her hands up in the air.

"Is looking for one not enough for you!?" Kazuichi asked, frightened.

"It seems everyone has different ideas, but if we're gonna be at the ocean, then first..." Usami pulled out two swimming bags, one red and one blue. "Tadaaa! This is what it's all about!"

"A swimming bag?" Nagito asked.

"Coooorrect! Love! Love!"

"Whoaaaa! Then that means..." Kazuichi said.

"That's right. I have swimsuits for everyone. Well, school swimsuits, actually. I hope that's okay."

"A-Are you telling us to go swimming...? In a situation like this...?" Hajime asked in disbelief and a hint of annoyance.

"It's not like I'm ordering you guys to swim or anything. It's just, if you wanna go swimming, you can..."

"Th-There's no way I'm going swimming! There's no way anyone would be so thoughtless as to go swimming in a situation like this..."

"YAAAHHHOOOOOO!" Ibuki shouted, running over to the swimming bags.

"Eh?"

"Aw yeah! That's what I'm talking about! With weather this nice, there's no way I'm gonna pass on swimming!" Kazuichi said, reaching into one of the bags to pull out a swimsuit.

"I agree!" Teruteru said, pulling one out as well, "Even my loins agree! See?"

"Your tenderloins? I understand!" Sonia said.

"S-Seriously, don't try to understand!" Nagito said, a nervous smile on his face.

"How long has it been since I last swam in the sea?" Mahiru rhetorically asked.

"Allllllll riiiiiight! Let's go change!!!" Nekomaru said, running off.

Everyone except for a select few ran off to put on their swimsuits in the hotel. You looked around and saw that, along with you, Hajime, Hiyoko, Akane, Byakuya, Chiaki, and Fuyuhiko chose not to swim. You simply didn't want to because you didn't feel like it, and it was obvious why Hajime didn't, but you wondered why the others didn't.

In a matter of minutes, everyone else returned in their swimsuits and started to play in the water. A few moments later, Hajime seemed to have a change of heart and went to join in, but when he did, the sky grew cloudy.

You hummed in confusion and looked up. It was just sunny a moment ago... How could that have happened...?

"Eh? Huh...?" Usami hummed and looked around, equally as confused.

"Hey, what's going on?" Hajime asked, turning to her, "What did you do!? This is obviously not right! It was sunny just a few moments ago!"

"Wha... wha-wha-wha... Wh-What is this!?"

"... Huh?"

"I didn't do anything... What is all this...? There's no way! Something like this shouldn't be happening!"

Suddenly, one of the monitors turned on. It was staticky, and you could barely make out a glitchy silhouette in the middle.

"Ahh, ahh...! Mic check! Mic check! Ah, ah! Ah, ah! Can you hear me, can you hear?" That high-pitched voice... it was so laid back and gleeful that it seemed out of place. You couldn't help but feel as though you heard it from somewhere... "Puhuhu... Surprised? You were totally surprised! Riiiight? Now then, sorry to keep you all waiting for so long. Let's leave this worthless entertainment behind... It's time for the main attraction! You guys better hustle over to Jabberwock Park!"
