How did he do it?
He could've killed both of us.
Was he truly willing to put both of our lives on the line to defeat Ubuyashiki?
...
I couldn't blame him.
I didn't even realize what happened until arms wrapped around my waist. Muzan. Only then did I come to my senses.
My ears were ringing as I looked around rapidly. Muzan held me close as he rushed me away from the line of fire. Through the flames, I could see Ubuyashiki with parts of his body exploded off. They regenerated quickly, though. Muzan deposited me in an area that wasn't ablaze and moved away to get closer to Ubuyashiki.
As he did, I heard shouting coming towards us. I looked behind me and saw Nezuko and Hakuji approaching. She wasn't wearing her box... so where's Tanjiro?
"[NAME]! Where have you been?!" Hakuji gasped, immediately going to my side.
My eyes darted around as I saw the other Hashira gathering around. There was Gyokko, Hantengu... and two others. A man with black hair and a blue haori and a woman with long black hair that mostly covered her eyes.
"Hakuji..." I uttered, breathlessly looking ahead again.
Through the fire, I could see a figure clinging onto Ubuyashiki. ... A woman? Why was a woman here? Who is that?
"Answer me, [NAME]!" Hakuji pleaded, grasping my shoulders.
"She's obviously in shock, Hakuji-san!" Nezuko snapped back, surprising the both of us.
Hakuji gritted his teeth, and it seemed like he was about to shout at her, but Muzan shouted something that caught their attention.
"It's Ubuyashiki!" He cried out, "Ubuyashiki Kagaya! This guy won't die even if you cut his head off!"
The air went still as everyone processed his words. It only lasted for a split second, though.
"Ubuyashiki!" Nezuko screeched, rushing forward.
Her cry seemed to snap everyone back to reality. All at once, the Hashira charged at Ubuyashiki. Before they could get to him, however, the sound of a drum echoed. The ground below me seemed to disappear. That's because it did.
I screamed as I fell, my stomach dropping. I looked around with wide eyes, taking in the familiar scenery. The Infinity Castle.
