My eyes widened in horror as I watched blood splatter to the floor. Zack's smile quickly faded, the pain getting to him. He stumbled for a second before collapsing onto his back, his body limp.

"Zack!" Rachel and I cried out at the same time.

Rachel stood rooted in her spot, her body frozen from shock, but I rushed to his side. I fell to my knees and pressed my fingers to his bandaged neck, feeling for his pulse. It was still there, going surprisingly strong. Goodness... How could he survive something like that?

"Ugh! Talk about revolting!" Cathy shouted, stomping down the stairs like a petulant child having a tantrum, "I was wrong to ever call you a model criminal!" She opened the door in the glass panel, which was only slightly outlined, and walked up to Rachel. "You're sad excuses of criminals, Rachel Gardner and [NAME] [LASTNAME]! And I can't believe you, Isaac Foster! I never imagined you'd be a big fool to kill yourself all because of your own desires! What a let down! Ugh...! You're ruining all the punishments I have waiting for you! You really are a dull person, aren't you, Rachel?!"

"... I don't recall you ever being in a position to decide that," Rachel finally said, her voice now empty again.

I jolted at the sudden sound of a slap. My body tensed, and slowly, I looked over at Rachel and Cathy. Cathy slapped Rachel.

She slapped Rachel.

My breath quickened, my body moving on its own. We've gone through all of these floors... Doctor Danny and Eddie... These punishments... Zack stabbing himself... This is simply the cherry on top.

I moved without thinking. My brain, suddenly remembering the knife in my pocket, reached into it and rushed at Cathy. She looked at me just as I swung my knife at her. She quickly sidestepped me, intending to avoid my attack altogether, but I managed to land a blow on her cheek, making a shallow cut. I stood in front of Rachel, outstretching an arm in front of her while I held my knife tightly in my other hand.

"Lay another hand on her and see what happens," I spat, "I'm her big sister! It's my job to protect her! I'll cut you into pieces!"

Cathy touched her cheek and looked at the blood that had touched her glove. She narrowed her eyes at me and grinned slowly.

"Wow... It looks like you really do have guts, [NAME]," she giggled, "You naughty criminal! You sinner! I'll punish you by turning you into Swiss cheese!"

She pointed a... something at me. I noticed that she was always carrying in even in her broadcasts, but I never paid much mind to it. It was... a whip? Well, whatever it was, it seemed to be what controlled the machine guns. When she pointed it at me, the guns did the same. I gritted my teeth, trying not to show any fear on my face. Right before she set them off, however, Zack stirred. He struggled for just a moment before falling into a violent coughing fit. Cathy got distracted by him, her head turning quickly.

"My goodness," she gasped in delight, "Look at you! You're still alive! Ew, no way! It's like you really are a monster! How splendid!"

She walked over to him, pressing her heel against his head.

"... So you're going to kill Zack?" Rachel asked monotonely.

"Yes! I mean, how could I ever allow anyone else to punish such an incredible criminal?"

I heard a sudden movement behind me. I looked back and saw that Rachel had grabbed one of the guns off of the floor. She pointed it straight at Cathy.

"Stop it."

"Oh? Go ahead. Shoot." Rachel simply stood there, holding the gun threateningly. When she didn't do anything, Cathy laughed again. "Too bad! There were never any bullets in that gun to begin with! The same goes for that other one, too! Though, I'm sure a sad excuse for a criminal like you wouldn't have been able to shoot me in the first place! But the fact that you had the nerve to point that gun at me did get me a little interested..." She pointed her finger at Rachel, her index finger decorated with a silver ring. "Bang!"

The ring must have had some sort of gun built into it, because it shot at Rachel, throwing the gun right out of her hand. She fell from the impact, uninjured but shaken. Cathy turned her back to me, focusing her attention back onto Zack.

The nerve.

Her nerve.

She didn't even look at me.

Like I was insignificant.

No.

No!

I won't be overlooked!

I moved quickly.

She didn't have time to react when I dug my knife into her back. She gasped and staggered, looking back at me with wide, rage-filled eyes. I quickly pulled the knife out of her and stepped to the side. Blood spurted from the wound. She frantically reached her hand back, trying to hold the wound, but she was unable to.

"You... You...!" She gasped, reaching out to me.

"Bang."

That sound came from Rachel. In an instant, Cathy was shot. She screamed and fell to the ground, the bullet hitting right in her side and grazing the spot just above where I stabbed her. I looked at Rachel and saw that she was holding another gun. A different one. Where did she get that?

...

Actually, I'd rather not know.

Cathy started shouting nonsense, but I didn't let her get it all out. I went back up to her and started stabbing her repeatedly in the stomach. She coughed and gagged out blood, the sounds mixing with her maniacal laughter. She held up her hand that held her whip only for her entire forearm to get chopped off.

I didn't do that.

I looked up and saw Zack, who was standing next to me menacingly. If he was in pain-which I was certain he was-he didn't show it. Without a word, I backed off, allowing him to deliver the final blows. He swung at Cathy relentlessly. She tried desperately to wiggle away, but it was hopeless. Eventually, Zack made a deep cut in her stomach. She yelped in pain, her eyes rolling back. Cathy was no more.
