I watched as Rachel shot at Zack. She didn't hit him directly, but rather his jacket. I blinked in confusion when she suddenly took off, rushing into another room.
"I'm sorry, Zack!" Danny shouted, "I knew I said I'd let you get away, but no! I need to put Rachel's desires before yours right now!" He gripped my wrist tightly and pulled me along with me. "Come on, my dear! We need to follow her!"
He practically dragged me along with him as he ran through the door that Rachel went into. I looked back at Zack, who started following behind me. I shut the door behind us before I could go too far, but Danny pulled me along rougher.
"Danny, slow down...!" I gasped when I started tripping over my feet. He didn't seem to hear me through his craze. "Danny...? Doctor...?!"
"Hush, [NAME]!" He finally yelled, "Don't you trust me?! I'm your family! Your husband! You have to trust me and just follow along!"
"Husband...?"
I didn't know how long or how far we ran. I didn't know where we were on the floor. But I knew we were by a window.
Because it shattered.
I let out a pained cry as the glass shards pierced my skin. Danny's grip on my wrist slipped, making me stumble and fall forward.
"Oh, my dear!" Footsteps approached me rapidly. Danny kneeled next to me and helped me sit up. "Oh, I'm sorry, my love... I was just in such a rush to help Rachel, I didn't realize how much you were struggling..." He ran his fingers through my hair and pushed my face against his chest. He shifted his position slightly before helping me stand up. "[NAME]... Do you still have the gun I gave you?" I almost nodded before quickly realizing that it was nowhere on me. I must have dropped it when he dragged me along after Rachel. "I'll take that as a no... Well, that's alright, my dear. You don't have to participate. You need only to watch."
He led me through the hallway, this time much more gently. We entered another room, which... It was where we started out. Zack and Rachel stood in the middle of the room, not noticing our presence. Danny snuck up behind Zack and pointed his gun at his head while I walked over to the couch and sat down.
Whatever they were talking about went into one ear and flew right out the other. I leaned my back against the couch and pulled my knees up to my chest, watching them absentmindedly.
Husband...
Husband?
Doctor Danny is my husband?
Is that what he sees himself as?
I closed my eyes and furrowed my brows slightly, rubbing my temple. My head hurts... All this thinking...
I opened my eyes again slowly only to see Rachel pointing her gun at... Not Zack... But Danny.
"Rachel, no!" I cried out, suddenly springing out of my spot on the couch.
I ran at her right as she pulled the trigger. I forced her to the floor, making her drop the gun. I was too late, though. Danny was shot.
"Rachel, how could you?!" I screamed, my emotions all over the place, "We were going to be a family! Do you not want that?! Isn't that why you killed your parents, Rachel?! Because you wanted a perfect family?!"
"And why did you kill your parents, [NAME]?" Rachel retorted, narrowing her eyes.
"... Huh?"
Rachel and I stayed in our positions for a long time. Danny laid on his back as he bled out while Zack watched us.
"... [NAME]..." Zack finally said, "Will you listen ta me now? Now that Danny's dead? Will you believe that you've been brainwashed?"
"... Brainwashed...?" That word again... I don't like it... "No... No, he's not dead... We're a family... We're married..."
"Married?! Gimme a break! He was just controllin' you, [NAME]! What's he done ta you?!" Zack stomped over to me and grabbed me by my shoulders. He forced me off of Rachel and made me face him. "Don't ya remember when you hated me before?! Why do you hate me again now?! I thought we were gettin' along! ... I thought..."
His words trailed off as he examined my face.
...
No...
No, I don't like that look....
"Get away from me!" I cried out, pushing him away.
I didn't know what to do. I didn't know where to go. But I ran away, because that was the only thing I could think to do. I didn't hear footsteps rushing behind me.
Doctor Danny would've followed.
I entered a room at random. A bedroom. I rushed over to the bed and collapsed onto it. I buried my face in the pillow, muffling my screams. They were screams of anger and grief and something else that I couldn't quite place. I screamed until my throat was sore. Until I couldn't scream anymore. Then, I simply laid there.

I awoke to the sound of machinery filling my ears. I groaned and stirred, reaching a hand up to touch my pounding head.
"Ugh..." I grumbled quietly.
"It's about time you woke up."
I gasped at that voice. It was only then that I realized I was leaning against someone. Zack. I couldn't move away, though. My head hurt too much for that. I slowly raised my head and looked around. We were in an elevator. An elevator that was going down.
"... What happened...? What's going on...?"
"We found ya passed out after you ran away," Zack said, leaning his head back against the wall of the elevator.
"... After I ran away?"
"What, you don't remember? You went berserk after Ray shot Danny and ran away."
"Danny..." Oh, right... Danny... "Family..."
"Family, huh? What's with that? Do you still care about it?"
"... No."
I remember. Something within me made me want to be loyal to Danny. To not leave his side. Seeing him get shot physically hurt me. I couldn't stand it. But now... Now, I'm completely okay.
"Why were you like that, [NAME]?" Rachel, who sat on the other side of Zack, asked.
"... I... don't know..."
"Well, he did do somethin' to ya ta make ya all limp," Zack said.
"Maybe he used a medicine," Rachel suggested, "It could've had some sort of lasting effect that made you like that. I wouldn't put it behind Danny to do something like that."
"... Right... Hey, where are we going?"
"We're finally gettin' outta here!" Zack chuckled.
As if on cue, the elevator stopped. The doors opened, revealing our destination. ... The cathedral floor?
"The exit is on this floor," Rachel explained simply as we all got up, "You see, B1 was built after Danny brought you and I here, so it would only make sense for the exit to be connected to B2."
I nodded, though I wasn't too interested in the explanation. I just wanna leave... I lagged behind a little as we walked through the hallway. Zack looked back at me and reached out, pulling me along.
"C'mon. I won't let anything else happen to ya," he huffed, making me walk by his side.
I watched him curiously, wondering what could be going on in his head. He's unreadable, though, so I quickly gave up. We made it to a room with tall stained glass and a grand piano against one of the walls. We pushed the piano out of the way, though it didn't really reveal anything.
...
Except for a small, almost unnoticeable keyhole in one of the window frames. We had no key, though, so Zack resorted to smashing the glass. I covered my face and stepped back as the glass flew everywhere. When it stopped raining shards, I opened my eyes again.
"Let's go," I mumbled, not wanting to waste any more time.
When I stepped past the ruined glass and was met with the sight of... a staircase. A really, really long staircase.
