"That wanker Denmark, dared to lay your goddamn foot on my land and claim it yours! I won't stay still and watch my home shrinking, but somehow make up for this loss." England thought, advancing to the western region shown on his map. "Now get ready to cry your eyes out."
His army had reached the western border, only to find out in confusion no single signs of resistance from Wales. Normally the Welsh always proved to be ready and resilient, so this time the English forces couldn't help but wonder whether their foes had surrendered themselves, or were hatching some cunning scheme.
As the army marched further into the region, England realized his troops outnumbered the Welsh by almost three times. Wales must have been exhausted, and would fall into his hands in the bat of an eye.
Just after a minor clash, Wales retreated in an attempt to hold his ground, with England chasing after.
"DAMMIT!"
.
.
"Now with this I will make England taste my true power hahahahaha..." Denmark laughed to himself triumphantly. His plan had been in progress for so long, and there was no way the beetle-browed brat could think of any other trick against him.
.
"Come on, England, where are you? Mister Danmark's patience is wearing thin, don't you know?!" Denmark was like a cat on hot bricks, hoping a certain blonde to appear when he suddenly heard footsteps from afar. "Must be him coming!"
The Dane didn't have to wait for so long as the next moment, a little boy came to his view, trying in desperation to run for his dear life while relentlessly begging the chaser, "Don't! Don't follow me! My fault, my fault, let me go, please!"
Not wasting another second, Denmark jumped out of the bush, blocked the child's way and took hold of him with both arms to prevent the kid from dashing away.
"Yo! Long time no see, England?"
"LET ME GO JERK, I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU, LET GO!"
"Tch, the naughty lad doesn't know how terribly Mister Danmark misses him? At least you should pay him a visit every now and then to heal his poor broken heart!"
"God, is this Danish bastard still not enough so that you sent me another goddamned bully? TELL ME WHY, MY GOODNESS!" England whined in utter hopelessness. His desperate moan took the elder nation by surprise.
"Another bully? What do you mean?"
"HEY YOU STOP THERE, WE HAVEN'T FINISHED YET!"
A strange little child, sword in hand, out of nowhere lunged at the poor bushy-browed kid and easily dragged his frail body along with him, "What's mine is meant to follow me, right now."
"Hey... kid, I think you've got something wrong here." said Denmark, "I'm the first to 'take care' of him, so he's my property."
"But I'm the first to see him and that means I got him before you, don't try to steal what's mine!" the boy grunted.
"Ooooh you're still so green at this stuff, aren't you adorable babe?" the ruffled-haired nation mocked, "Never heard the say "early bird catches the worm" before? But... wait, who are you anyway, and... what's with that Viking suit of yours? Don't tell me..."
"Geezz, mark my words, my name is..."
"ICELAND! Thank God you are here, that you suddenly bolted away makes me a bundles of nerves!"
"NORGE? What are you doing here? And who's this brat?" Denmark gasped in shock seeing the Norwegian.
"Is that you, Danmark? Great, here's my brother, Iceland." Norway said before turning to the child with round violet eyes. "That's Danmark, who I've told you about for several times."
"You're Danmark? Indeed, you look just as stupid as Norge sa... Oh woah WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Iceland screeched in shock as the Danish boy lifted his small body off the ground.
"Oh lord oh my Odin LOOK AT HOW CUTE THIS LITTLE BABE IS! All brothers of Norge are my brothers and having one like this is awesomeeee!" Denmark's eyes shone with delight as he spinned the white-headed child around, who was whimpering at the gurgling sound in his stomach.
"Big brother, tell this dude to st..o..p as I'...m get...ting deadly s...sick!"
Eventually the mischievous Dane stopped his unintentional torture and put his adopted brother down. "It is great fun to have another member in our family, but I've never expected you to let such a child be a fellow barbarian."
"Well because we don't have to fight really much recently, I bring Ice along to take better care of him."
"But what are you two doing here?"
----Flashback-----
"You'd better surrender your ass hahahahaha...!" England chased Wales with a wide grin of jubilance. As his soldiers passed a hill, the blonde suddenly jolted at the sight of a troop marching towards them.
"Aren't... Aren't those the damn Vikings?! No, no way, how on earth could those savages get here? That Denmark bastard must have..." Then he realized the Viking leader was not Denmark. "Sweet, one brute is still not enough."
"SUMMONING TROLL!"
A colossal troll towered over England, marking the first time he'd ever witnessed such a bizarre spell. That savage was definitely not an ordinary magic user.
It came as no surprise that the formidable Norse rowers easily crushed the English troops and beat them hollow...
.
.
"I really don't know how to thank you enough for what you've done." said Wales gratefully.
"Don't mention it. Ireland's friend is also my friend, and only jackasses turn their back on their pals."
"Big brother, shall we hurry after that dude?"" Iceland urged.
"No need to do so, we're here just to kick him out of Wales' house."
"But I want to seize my enemy! As a Viking I haven't managed to occupy any land, and I want to be a mighty conquerer like Thor!"
Norway hesitated. To be honest, he was keener on doing trade than raiding for the time being, but, when thinking it over...
"Well, maybe we should seize him like you said, but..." Norway had no time to finish his sentence when Iceland dashed away, yelling with great zeal. "I'M GOING TO GET YOU ENGLAND!"
"Ice, wait...! Tch, this brat... never be afraid of biting off more than he can chew. And that English guy doesn't seem easy to deal with at all... with those magical creatures... ICELAND, SLOW DOWN..." the Norwegian's voice trailed off.
---End flashback---
"And that's why I'm here."
"Well, what truly matters is our reunion and I see no reason not to throw a party! Hey Ice, you are really too bold of a kid... must have taken that spirit after me, right? If you want to, I'll show you how to become as great as me... isn't it awesome?"
"I do, I do...!"
"You dumbass, don't be full of hot air in front of a kid!"
.
.
"They aren't paying attention. Time to flee." England quietly sneaked away...
"STOP THERE ENGLAND, where do you think you're going?" Denmark called. As England took to his heels, the three other nations made a lunge at him altogether.
"MOMMY, HELP!"
.
.
Struggling with the Vikings for a while, England decided to make peace by 'presenting' Denmark with 'several' tracts of land, jewellery and lots of horses. The barbarians seemed to be really content.
"See? We wouldn't have to kick up this fuss if you had done this from the beginning." said Denmark cheerily. "From now on this region is called Danelaw, Danmark's house, Danmark's rules. Try to behave, England."
"And I'll make you see that it's never too late for revenge." England vowed to himself.
.
.
"Danmark, where are we going now? What are we doing? Why not beat that England up one more time?" Iceland peppered his brother with questions.
"Calm down, Iceland. We do need some rest for the time being, and why should we hurry then? Moreover, we've just signed a treaty with England, and we can't break it however much we want to. The best thing to do now is to wait till our next journey." Denmark explained.
"Don't be careless, who knows what that nuisance is up to? We'd better stay alerted." Norway warned.
"Who dares to put one toe on Danelaw is certain to fall." Denmark was more than confident in his statement.
.
.
That night...
Norway was wide awake at the presence of a mysterious being. He had no idea what it was, but this was definitely really strange.
"Big brother, why aren't you sleeping?" Iceland wiped his eyes. Apparently the boy was also dragged out of his dreams by that peculiar thing.
"Do you also feel something strange?"
The boy nodded.
With an eerie premonition that bad things were going to happen, Norway hurried to Denmark's side.
"Danmark, wake up, quick! Wake up, there's someone out there!"
"Why c...an there b...e someone outs...ide at this l...ate h...our? You're j...ust imagining things again." The sleepy Dane suddenly caught sight of torchlight outside their tent. "Let me check."
As the two Vikings got out, waiting for them was nobody but England, accompanied by a troop sieging their camp with torches in hand.
"You disgusting coward! So fucking respectable, break your word and attack on my home in the dead of night." Denmark growled, infuriated.
"Your home? Look down and see whose land your shitty feet are stepping on! I just take back what's mine, wanker."
"As if with that cute tiny troop you could even make us sneeze." Denmark sniggered.
"It's not like what you see, Danmark! There's a huge horde of magical creatures behind that brat, and those are invisible to you!" Norway's face turned pale.
"Is the horse with a horn called 'unicorn', Mr Puffin?"
"What? I see nothing at all."
"Ice, get into our tent, now." Norway ordered.
"You must have seen my army, Norway. Now I'll show you the true power of magic spells in this place. EVERYBODY, ADVANCE!"
Clashes between the Vikings and their English foes continued to rage on. Apart from Norway and Iceland, the other seafarers couldn't understand why they were defeated so easily, as for them little fairies, unicorns and wizards were literally invisible.
"Damn, what the hell is wrong with me today?!" Denmark tried to sit up, still shocked at how the bushy-browed knocked him down without a drop of sweat.
"GO TO HELL, ENGLAND!" The Dane aimed directly at England, who was immediately protected by a centaur however.
"Loserrrrrr, don't even think of laying a finger on me!" the blonde mocked.
"I call on Odin, on our mightiest, on great Gods from Asgard... Please grant me power, and I shall never cower... I ask the universe, to bless." Norway mumbled his sacred magic words. "SHOW YOURSELF, THE FEARSOME, LORD OF TROLLS."
On the sky sprung up a titanic Troll, the strongest of all jötnar, making England's magical comrades step backwards...
.
.
"I must go and help them, I can't sit still like this." Iceland sneaked out of the tent, setting up some traps against England's mystical creatures.
"Well, well, knowing the fairies' weaknesses, such a wily kid aren't you?"
Behind the small nation appeared a middle-aged woman, followed by her house-elf.
"Who are you, old lady? What do you want?"
"Old lady? I'm not that old with just a few wrinkles, you should know." The woman was apparently offended, ordering her elf. "Dolly, show this kid how to behave."
"Yes, madam... Wing-ga-dium Levi-o-sar." The elf waved her hand towards Iceland, yet nothing happened.
"You're saying it wrong, it's Levi-o-sa, not Levi-o-sar. Like this, Wing-ga-dium Levi-o-sa." The witch flicked her wand towards Iceland, as the boy suddenly loss his balance and rose off the ground, hovering in the air in accordance with the wand's movements.
"Woah... No, let me down, LET ME DOWN!"
"What? Isn't flying so fun for a toddler? Or maybe you want me to make it a little higher?"
Fortunately, before the woman managed to do so, a group of centaurs frantically ran towards her direction, making it impossible for the witch to enforce the levitation charm. Iceland fell into a bush, totally none the worse apart from some small scratches. He quickly made for his brothers to warn them about the woman.
.
"IS THAT TRUE? I've never expected this region to have such a powerful sorceress. But well, the thing is that you're okay." Norway sighed nervously. "Troll, concentrate all your powers, we're gonna use the last blow."
.
"Big brother, that's her." Iceland pointed to the woman from afar. The witch was not alone, but had England and numerous creatures by her side.
"Norway, what's the point of continuing to fight against us? Look, those savages are already fucked up, and I doubt if that damn Denmark is able to hold any longer. It's time for you to clear off."
"I will fight to the last breath. Troll, get ready."
"Fine, if you want us to beat the crap out of you that bad! Everybody, read out this together, EXPECTO PATRONUM!"
All the magical creatures roared, as a gigantic silver lion came to life, which was even huger than the Troll. Of course the Norse giant could not hold the line much longer, before he eventually vanished back to the world of divines.
"THROW THEM BACK TO THE OCEAN!" The English army was bursting with renewed energy.
"Thank you so much, my lady Helga Hufflepuff! It's all because of you!" England told the witch.
Helga placed a kiss on England's forehead.
.
.
"NO NO HELL NO I CAN'T GIVE UP EASILY LIKE THIS! TURN OUR SHIPS BACK, I CAN'T LOSE MY PRECIOUS DANELAW!" Denmark screamed.
"There's no point in doing so! Come on, calm down Danmark, just forget it for this time and we'll return one day." Norway pulled Denmark into an embrace to sooth him. "Go with me to a different place, alright?"
"Fine... So, where are we going?"
"The South, the South!" Mr Puffin called.
"That's right! Head straight to the warm southern territories and we'll figure out what to do next!" Iceland exclaimed.
"I just wish Sverige were here with us... he certainly would know how to solve this mess." Denmark sighed.
"Mentioning Sverige, I wonder where he is now." Norway asked his brother and asked himself.
