12 Question
Part 12 Question
"Khushi, could you please, get to know whether Arnav is married or not" Shreya pleaded.
Khushi nodded ok.
"Won't you listen to me, Shreya?" Lavanya chided.
Shreya's face hung.
"What's your opinion about it, Khushi?" Lavanya asked.
Khushi was stuck. What could she say, don't love my husband?
"What can I say? It's her matter"
"No no... don't feel like that, Khushi... you are new here... you know nothing about me. So, your point would be justified" Shreya said.
Khushi liked her approach and nodded yes.
"What will you do if he is married?" Khushi questioned Shreya.
Shreya sighed.
"What can I do? I will get away from his path completely" she said sadly.
"Then do it... think he is married..."
"But, what if he is not married?" Shreya asked.
"If he is even ready to lie to avoid you, what will you gain from him?"
"She had a point, Shreya... consider it and...?"
"Don't anyone in this office know about his marriage?" Khushi asked.
"NK and Akash also knew..." Shreya said.
"Really?"
"Yes, NK also said he got married"
"Then what's there to think more?" Khushi asked.
Shreya nodded yes.
"Life is a beautiful thing... and marriage is a very important phase of it. The happiness we get in that phase completely depends upon the person who we married. Don't spoil it Shreya. You are a nice girl who doesn't want to interfere with someone's life. Decide something that makes your life happy" Khushi said.
"If you have a problem doing that, I have a solution," Lavanya said.
"What?"
"Find someone... then you will see how fast you forget Arnav," Lavanya said.
"What about NK?" Shreya winked.
"I will kill you," Lavanya said.
Khushi raised her brows in amazement. Shreya chuckled at her.
"What you are thinking is right, Khushi. Lavanya is in love with NK but he doesn't even look at her"
"Is it, Lavanya?"
Lavanya nodded yes pouting.
"He seems a good guy... why not you confess your love?" Khushi asked.
"I so want to... but when I go close to him, my hands and legs start shivering, yaar"
"What about your mouth? You can use it to confess..." Khushi chuckled.
"Mouth is the one that trembles more," Lavanya said miserably.
Khushi saw NK coming. He smiled at Khushi.
"If you had lunch, shall we continue, Khushi?"
Khushi nodded yes. She stood from the chair and came to Lavanya. As they didn't expect, she hugged Lavanya making her stunned.
"Will see you in the evening. Wait for me..."
Lavanya nodded ok while looking at NK who wondered, seeing Khushi's hugging act. Khushi started, walking with NK.
"Thank you, so much, Nanne"
"For?"
"For introducing Lavanya... she is a nice girl..." Khushi said.
"Is it...? Do you like her on the first day itself?"
"Yes... though I'm new here she shared food with me. She is ready to help me you know..."
"That's nice..."
She continued learning. Khushi slowly started questioning him.
"Nanne, you said Arnavji won't talk to anyone. I heard he got married recently. I thought he is a rigid person but now, I think it's wrong..."
NK smiled.
"Why are you smiling, Nanne? Do I tell anything wrong?"
"Shreya loves him..."
"Yeah, she told me..."
"But he doesn't..."
"She told me that also"
"To avoid her only he lied to her..."
Khushi smiled inwardly. So, he also didn't believe it.
"Yes, how could anyone get married within three days? He returned to the office within three days and told her that he got married."
"Oh..."
"Please don't tell Shreya about it."
"Why?"
"She deserves better... not only Shreya... no one should marry him, Khushi. The girl would struggle a lot if she marries him. He will never think of having someone in his life... he is like that. We are watching him for the past five years. He is a hard as well as a smart worker but he likes to be alone... that's why I'm saying he would not have gotten married."
Khushi was silent.
Evening
Khushi came out of the office with Lavanya.
"Bye Lavanya"
"See you, Khushi. Nice meeting you"
"Yeah..."
They left the place. Khushi came to the bus stop and waited for the bus. She didn't even look for Arnav. She didn't want to embarrass him. So, she left the place only after he left the office.
Khushi reached home. She opened the door using a spare key without knocking on the door...without disturbing Arnav.
She saw him in the kitchen. As Khushi cooked in the morning, he wanted to do it now. So, he took the lead.
She went to her room and left the door unlocked as usual. That's when she got a call from her mother Garima. She attended it.
"Hello, Khushi... "
"Hi, Amma..."
"Have you forgotten us?" she asked with fake anger.
"How could I Amma?"
"That's why you are calling me twice a day?" She taunted.
"Sorry, Amma, I was a bit busy"
"What so busy? Were you making your husband sleep, singing a lullaby?" She teased.
"My husband doesn't have time to sleep in the morning time..." When she said that, Arnav crossed her room and stopped hearing that. Why does she talk about his sleeping timing? With whom?
"oh... then what were you doing?"
"I got a job..." Khushi said.
"Is it? Where?"
"In Arnavji's company"
"Really...? Congratulations... it seems, Damadji wants you to be with him anytime..."
"Amma, stop teasing me..."
"He must be the one who arranged a job for you. Don't I know it's not possible to get a job in Mumbai?"
"You are right, Amma... Arnavji is the one who arranged me a job in his company... he wants me to be with him 24*7 that's why..." Khushi said.
"Remember your mother at least sometimes, Khushi"
"Amma... you should be happy that my husband is keeping me happy that makes me forget you..."
"Of course, I'm happy about it... but, being a mother, I would expect something from my daughter too..." Garima said sadly.
"Ok, ok, I will try to call you every day. If I don't call you, think I'm busy with Arnavji... See you, bye..."
Khushi disconnected the call. Keeping the phone on the table, she opened the door and found Arnav standing, looking at her frowning. Khushi composed herself and went to the kitchen. She stopped hearing,
"Why did you lie to your mother?"
Khushi stopped, facing her back to him.
"Because I don't want them to know my LIFE became a LIE," she said not looking at him.
"They will grow their expectations..."
Khushi frowned. What does he mean by EXPECTATION?
"Expectations?" she turned towards him.
"I mean... oh..."
"Do you mean, BABY?"
Arnav gulped hard.
"I will manage..."
He shrank his face like, how will you manage?
"I will tell them I have a problem in giving birth to a baby... is that fine?" she asked calmly.
Arnav looked at her shocking and took a step toward his room, he stopped hearing,
"One minute..."
Arnav turned towards her.
"Shreya asked me something..." she said without an expression on her face.
Arnav widened his eyes and swallowed the gland that was choking in his throat.
"I'm not interfering in your matter...I don't know what to do as it is a matter of you..."
Arnav was waiting to know what Shreya asked for.
"As I'm ALSO (she stressed) coming from Parel, she asked me to find out whether you are married or not."
Arnav rolled his eyes.
"What do you want me to tell her?"
"Tell her the truth"
"But, I promised you that I won't tell anyone that you are my husband..."
"Just tell her I'm married and..."
Cutting him,
"And I should not tell her about your WIFE. Right?"
Arnav said nothing and went to his room. Khushi went to her room, smirking.
To be continued...
The next update is available on INKITT
She is his wife...after all...
Arnav was lying down on the bed, thinking about what Khushi asked him. She asked him about what to answer Shreya but she didn't question him about Shreya. Doesn't she feel bad about it? Or, doesn't she want to show it out? Don't know what Shreya told Khushi about him... didn't Khushi truly tell Shreya that she is his wife? Yes, Khushi would not have told her... if she would have told Shreya about it, Shreya had spread it all over the office. If not Shreya... Lavanya would have done that. Why this girl (Khushi) is like this? What does she want? What is her perception of their married life? He couldn't understand anything.
