Part 40 Confession

Khushi was admiring the beach whereas Arnav was admiring his wife. Both were in the same state. Khushi never got a chance to be on the beach whereas Arnav never got a chance to be with his wife.

After half an hour, Shashi and Garima came to the Marine Drive. Garima was also excited as that was the first time, she was seeing the beach.

"How beautiful..." she said.

"We were born and brought in Delhi and never have gotten a chance to visit a beach so far. That's why she is excited" Shashi said.

Arnav nodded yes smiling. They sat on the wall and viewed the sea.

"Is not this place so pleasant, Amma?" Khushi asked.

"Yes... I like this place so much."

"Yeah... we have no chance to visit such a place in Delhi," Khushi said.

"Yeah... you are so lucky to have your office in the seashore. You can come here anytime. I think you come here often with Damadji...!" Garima asked.

"Arrey, Garimaji, they are working people. How do they get time to roam often?" Shashi said.

Arnav looked at Khushi embarrassingly.

"They won't get time to come here as there would be much work at home..." Shashi said normally.

"yeah... working people have such a problem," Garima said.

"No, Amma... we often come here."

Arnav looked at her awestruck.

"Arnavji brought me here many times as I like the beach very much. Whenever we spent our time here, we always have dinner outside" she smiled whereas Arnav gulped down. He knew she always takes his side. She never forgets to stand for him but this is the first time, he was witnessing it in front of his eyes, that too with his in-laws.

Garima and Shashi's faces brightened hearing that.

"You know, Amma, I like to walk on the Marine Drive wall. Arnavji holds my hand cautiously and walks with me parallel." She chuckled.

Garima looked at Arnav lovably who didn't take his eyes from Khushi.

"You are lucky to have such an understanding and lovable husband, Khushi," Garima said looking at Arnav.

Khushi nodded yes not looking at Arnav.

"Shall we go for a walk?" Garima asked.

"Sure..." said Shashi.

"Amma, there is a coffee shop twenty meters away from here. We can get good coffee in the shop. I and Arnavji have coffee in the shop only. Hai na Arnavji?" she asked.

"Is it? Then we will have coffee in the shop" Shashi gestured to Garima to walk.

They started walking. Khushi was about to follow them, she stopped feeling a tug in his hand. She saw Arnav clutching her hand. She looked at him perplexed as she didn't expect it. He started walking with her. More to her surprise, Arnav entwined his fingers with her while walking. Khushi looked at their hands and then Arnav.

"How do you know about the coffee shop?" Arnav asked her.

"Lavanya told me"

Arnav nodded as I SEE.

"You can walk on the wall if you like to... I will walk with you parallel" he said.

She nodded No.

"Why?"

"I just said that to make them feel happy"

"Maybe, but you like to walk on the wall right?"

"I feel scared of its height..."

"You don't have to... I'm with you..."

Clutching her hip, Arnav lifted her swiftly and made her stand on the wall. Holding his shoulders, Khushi looked behind and closed her eyes with fear.

"Your parents will get to know the truth if you are feeling scared to walk on the wall"

Khushi looked at him gulping.

"Make yourself up... hold my hand and walk"

Taking a deep breath, she stood.

"Don't look at the sea..."

She nodded yes and walked holding Arnav's hand. Her TIGHT clutch on his hand told him how scared she was.

Shashi turned behind and saw Khushi walking on the wall, hand in hand with Arnav. He gestured for Garima to look at them. Garima saw them and felt delighted. They walked ahead smilingly and waited for Arshi in the coffee shop. Khushi was looking at Arnav often while walking.

Khushi stopped when they came near the shop. Arnav held her hip again and helped her to get off the wall. They went to the shop. Shashi was about to order coffee for them. Arnav took lead. They had coffee with the pleasurable sea breeze.

"It feels so pleasant..." Garima said.

"Is not it?" Khushi sipped the coffee.

"More than everything, it's very pleasant to see you guys together with understanding and affection," Shashi said.

Arnav stopped sipping the coffee.

"You know Arnav we were so worried about Khushi. We wanted to know how she lives with you..." Shashi sighed.

"I promise... she will be happy with me," Arnav said looking at Khushi.

"That's enough for us..." Garima said emotionally.

They walked towards their car. Khushi sat with Garima in the back seat, letting Shashi sit with Arnav. Arnav didn't feel bad as he was glancing at her through the rearview mirror.

Arnav stopped the car in front of a three-star restaurant. Shashi looked at him understanding his intention.

"Arnav, Garima already cooked for tonight..." He said.

"Oh... I thought to feed you in the restaurant tonight"

"No, Damadji, the food I cooked will get wasted..." Garima said.

Arnav nodded ok and drove off.

They came home and took bath as the salty breeze made them feel sticky. As Garima said, she had been cooked very good food.

"You cooked very tasty aunty. I like it very much" Arnav said.

"Haan, Amma... especially, this aalu mutter," Khushi said.

"Arnav, I would like to say something to you"

"Tell me, uncle"

"I decided to go back to Delhi"

Arnav looked at him shockingly.

"But, why, uncle?"

"We just came to see Khushi leaving everything behind... now, we stayed with you for two days and we enjoyed. It's enough..."

"But, we are planning to go for Mumbai Dharshan..."

"We will come to Mumbai again with your parents. We will go with them... not now." Shashi said.

"But, Babuji..."

"It's ok, Beta..."

"Amma, please tell him"

"There is a party in our office tomorrow... attend the party and then go to Delhi, uncle," Arnav said.

"Party?" Garima asked.

"Yes, Amma... Arnavji was not ready for the party as you guys are here... he agreed only after our CEO asked him to bring you to the party."

"That's so nice... but we are not used to having parties and the parties are not our cups of tea," Shashi said.

"It's not so difficult, uncle," Arnav said.

"No problem Arnav"

"Shall I call Dad and Mom to Mumbai if you want them to be here?"

"No, no... not like that... you both are working. We don't want to mess your routine"

Arnav was about to say something,

"Please, Arnav... I have a lot of work to do"

Arnav looked at Khushi who sighed helplessly.

"Ok, babuji but you should stay here for long when you come with uncle and aunty" Khushi put a condition.

"Sure" Shashi smiled.

"Please arrange our tickets, Damadji," Garima said.

Arnav nodded ok and went to his room. he saw Khushi following him.

"What are you going to do?" she asked.

Arnav looked at her said nothing.

"Are you going to book their tickets?"

Arnav was silent.

"To make me stay in your room, don't make them stay here by lying them that tickets are not available," she said.

"Will you go back to your room if they go back to Delhi?" Arnav asked the million-dollar question.

Khushi sighed said nothing.

"Khushi, your parents are thinking we are living happily..."

Cutting him,

"I think you don't understand what my parents are thinking. They are thinking I'm happy with my UNDERSTANDING and LOVABLE husband. Do you think you are the one?" she asked with a lot of emotions that pricked Arnav.

"You never understood me... so you are not an understanding husband. Still, do you think you are lovable?" she asked with teary eyes. Her eyes got to tear up not because she was hurt. It's because she has no choice other than to hurt Arnav.

"I agree I didn't understand you, Khushi. Not only you, I never understood anyone in my life... not even my mother. But now, I would like to understand you. I want to understand you because you made me understand what life is. I know I'm not a lovable person because there is nothing in me that attracts people. Yet... YOU LOVED ME, Khushi. You loved me when people mocked me, found flaws in me but you never made me feel low nor did you give a chance for people to mock at me. Now, I understand there is no life for me without you. I understood that there are much more important things in the world than the solitary. I want you in my life... not just to share the bed but to share everything... my happiness, my tears, my problems, everything..." Arnav gulped down.

"Why? Why do you want me, Arnavji?"

Arnav cupped her face.

"Because I love you, Khushi... I love you so much... more than I loved myself... more than the solitary I wanted to be in... I love you" he said emotionally.

To be continued...
