Part 12 Declaration

Arnav came with a cup and extended it to Khushi.

"What's this?"

"Ginger tea..."

Khushi looked at the cup and looked at him, frowning. It was a tea with ginger and mint. No milk, no tea leaves.

"What's this?"

"Have it, you will feel better."

"I would like to have coffee..."

"No... You should not have coffee and strong tea now."

"Why?"

"It's not advisable during periods..."

"How do you know?"

"Mom told me."

"Did you talk to your mom about all this?"

"No... I just asked her today..."

Khushi raised her brows in amusement. Did he ask his mother for her? She smiled mildly.

"Thanks..." she tasted it. It was not so strong in ginger flavour. The mild mint smell was good.

'Take rest... I will bring your dinner." He said.

"I can cook..." she said hesitatingly.

"When did I say you can't?"

Khushi smiled.

"I will bring it. ok?" he left.

Khushi drank the ginger tea. She felt emotional. She didn't know why she couldn't hold her tears. It was definitely not sorrowful tears. She was never taken care of by anyone after her father's demise. She never wanted to get committed to anyone because she didn't think anyone would meet her expectations. Though she didn't have high expectations, she was scared of getting committed, even after many guys proposed to her. She didn't accept anyone because they calculated only the benefits. She didn't accept them because she was not a businessperson.

She felt severe pain in her abdomen. After the injection was given, the pain lessened slightly. Yet, it didn't hurt her. She didn't concentrate on it because she had a beautiful matter to concentrate on, Arnav...!

She lay on the bed, smiling.

Night

Arnav came with Khushi's dinner. He knocked on the door. Khushi opened the door. Arnav gave the dinner bag. Khushi looked at the bag and then at him.

"What's this?"

"Your dinner..."

"Why are you giving it from outside?"

"People may badmouth if they see us together..."

"Are people providing me food?"

Arnav was silent.

"Or, are you not going to marry me?"

He nodded no hurriedly.

"Then, why should I care about them?"

Arnav was speechless. He could not understand how the girl who was rigid till yesterday became brave overnight.

"Come in..."

Arnav went inside, smilingly. Spreading a mat, Khushi sat on it. She gestured for him to sit. Arnav also sat. Khushi opened the box and found salmon fish fry.

"Fish?"

"Won't you eat?"

"Of course, I will... but where did you get salmon fish?"

"Where else? In the market..."

"But why? You could have prepared something light..."

"Mom said, Salmon fish is good for a woman during her periods..."

Khushi, who was about to put it in her mouth, stopped and looked at him, surprised.

"What else did you ask your mother?"

"She said green leaves, nuts, seeds and yogurt also good. I have no time to prepare all of them. We will do it tomorrow. Now, eat this..."

He gave her rotti, ghee applied on it.

"Don't eat heat-generating-food..."

She nodded slowly. She didn't know Arnav had such a sweet side.

"What are you looking at? Eat..." he said.

"I don't know you have such a sweet side..." She said emotionally.

"I too don't know you have such an emotional side..." he smiled.

She smiled mildly.

"Actually, I don't want to show it, but now it comes out with no control."

"I can't believe my straightforward behaviour in Jithendar's matter would give me such a sweet fruit."

"Doesn't it say everything about you?"

"What if I did that to get your attention? How could you trust me right away?"

"Why would you do that?"

"What else? To get your property... you are earning... isn't it enough for me to be selfish?"

"Ok, be selfish... just clear me one thing."

"What?"

"Be with me and do things like today..."

Arnav rolled his eyes.

"Don't you have a problem if I'm selfish?"

"However, I will earn for both of us. My house is the only property that will also become yours. Then, what's there to be selfish? Will you ask me to register the house in your name?"

"What will you do if I ask that after our marriage?"

"What will you do if I don't give it to you?"

"I don't do anything because I don't ask you that."

"Don't say so..."

"Why?"

"I don't care if you ask me that, but if you do that after giving me your word, I won't spare you."

"If it is so, take my words. I will not ask you that. Ok?"

"Don't take me easily. I'm so strict. I will not forgive you if you do that."

"Ok, don't forgive me if I do that."

"Are you sure?"

"Damn sure..."

"Mmm..."

"Eat first..." he said.

"Didn't your mother ask you for whom you are asking for tips?"

"She did, and I answered."

"What did you answer?"

"It's for the girl I'm going to marry."

"Didn't your mother get angry with you?"

"She didn't... she wants me to marry soon."

"Will she like me?"

"I like you. So, she will also like you."

"Shall I meet her?"

"Of course, you should meet her. Without meeting my mother, how will our marriage take place? She is the one who is going to make us married."

"What about your father? You don't talk about him..."

"Haan, I have a father..."

"Don't you talk to him?"

"Why not? I talk to him. I like him too, but not more than my mother."

"Is it? Do you have a father?"

"What's there to be surprised? Everyone has..."

"I thought you have only a mother."

"Usually, I don't talk about my father...."

"That means, you are a Mumma boy..."

"Now, I'm a Mumma's boy. In future, I may turn into a Joru ka Gulam..."

Khushi, who was drinking water, was about to spit it, but she closed her mouth. She looked at him, widening her eyes.

"What happened?"

She nodded no.

"Careful while eating."

She nodded, smiling. Joru ka Gulam meant the slave of a wife. It might be said to tease those who were so much into their wives. But it was not an easy thing to accept the name. It was possible for those who were interested in their wives. It was easy for those who didn't care about what people said but only about their wives. And, Arnav did. Would he do what he said? Was what he said true? Would he like this forever? Those questions raised in her mind. Though she liked Arnav, she trusted him, she was still unsure about their relationship. It would assure her only as time passed.

"You cook so well. Was your mother who taught you?"

"Sometimes..."

"It tastes good..."

"Thank you. My mother says that the girl who marries me is lucky."

"The girl is the one who should say that," Khushi said teasingly.

"She will... definitely she will..." Arnav said confidently.

"Let's see..."

After dinner, Arnav gave her medicine.

"Have it after five minutes."

Khushi nodded.

"Take rest. Call me if you want anything. Or if you feel uneasy."

Khushi nodded.

"Bye..."

"You too have dinner earlier. Don't be late." She said.

Arnav nodded ok.

"Do you have food?"

"Yeah, I have..."

"Ok, bye..."

"Bye..."

"Will you wake up if I call you?"

"I will... call me if you want anything."

"Ok..."

"Bye..."

Khushi nodded ok. She had no heart to let him go. That was why she intentionally extended the conversation. That was the madness of love. Our hearts want our partner to always be with us. Khushi was also not exceptional.

When Arnav came out of Khushi's house, Ganguraj was staring at him. Arnav shrugged and walked to his portion. Ganguraj blocked his way.

"What are you doing at Khushi's house?"

"Why should I tell you that?"

"Don't test my patience... tell me why you went there?"

"Who are you to question me? Are you my house owner?"

"She is my girl..."

Arnav chuckled sarcastically. Ganguraj became furious and raised his hand to hit Arnav. Arnav pushed him hard, and he fell to the ground.

"How dare you push me!"

"Of course, I dare... Khushi is my girl... we are going to get married. Is that clear? Did you get your answer?" Arnav declared openly without minding about anything.

"Whaaat?" he stood up angrily.

Arnav went to his portion without giving heed to him, leaving him furious.

To be continued...
