24 Challenge
Part 24 Challenge
Shyam looked at Arnav and widened his eyes.
Arnav walked inside the cabin and stood beside Shyam.
"So, you lied... You are cheating a girl in a disguise... Why? What's necessary?" Shyam asked, frowning.
"Mind you, tell me what you mean by necessary? According to you, what does " necessary " mean?
"The girl looked like a middle-class girl. She would have fallen for you even if you hadn't disguised yourself. Then why did you do this? Who would reject you, ASR? Wouldn't girls fall for your charms and wealth?" Shyam questioned.
"That's why I disguise..." Arnav said.
"I didn't get you."
Arnav looked at Aman, smiling.
"When we were in college, someone challenged him that no girl would fall for him if he hid his real identity... Even if a girl loves him, she would not be with senses or ETHICAL..."
Shyam was shaken to the core because it was he who challenged Arnav. Did he take it seriously? But why?
"What do you mean, Aman? What are you saying?"
" I think you have selective amnesia... or else how would you have forgotten an important challenge you made in your life? " Aman asked teasingly.
"Have you gone mad, ASR? It was not intentional. I was angry with you when I challenged you..."
"Not just angry but furious..." Aman remembered that about him.
Shyam was thunderstruck.
"ASR... I don't know you would be so childish..."
"Childish?" Arnav raised his brows.
"Then what? Would anyone live like a beggar in a low-class area for a simple challenge? I thought you were mature enough to understand things. But no. I didn't expect you would be so mean..."
"Yes, I'm so mean... Because I have self-respect..."
"What do you mean? Where did your self-respect come from?"
"Didn't you touch my self-respect that day?" Arnav asked sharply.
"I... I just..."
"Yeah, you just said that... according to you, they were just a few words... but for me, it's about the self-respect that urged me to self-examine myself..."
"But, ASR..."
Cutting him off,
"I don't forget what you said, Shyam... I can never forget that. You said no girl would love me for who I am... a girl would come to me only for my charms and for my wealth. I can trap girls only standing under my father's money... I can't attract a girl with my character... even if I trap a girl, she would be half-mental, senseless, or unethical... didn't you say? Hann?" he said and stopped panting hard.
Shyam stood like a statue.
"ASR, I'm sorry, it was not intentional."
"It might not be intentional, but it touched my EGO... dirty ego... it made me think about my WORTH. It led me to self-examine myself... can't I make a girl fall in love with me purely for my character? Is there not a single girl in the world who would see my heart? Won't a mature girl love me for more than my wealth and charms? I took it as a challenge. My mother wanted me to live away from my father for some astrological reasons. I don't want to question her faith because it's about my father's life. I can't play with it. So, I decided to leave my house and take the chance to assess my worth over the last six months. I have lived in seven different places in Delhi. I realised that your words are somewhat true. Girls are so alert when it comes to their future. They are not ready to accept a simple and responsible man who could provide a budgeted life. At the same time, a few girls loved me, but they are half-baked. They are immature... I almost lost my hope. There is a month for me to return home. I changed my place and found my angel there... Khushi. I had never met such a divine girl in my life. She didn't care about money and wealth. In fact, she didn't like rich people. She liked me only for my caring nature. I felt proud of myself not because I won in the challenge but for winning a divine girl like Khushi's heart."
Shyam gulped hard.
"Didn't you hear what she said?"
Yes, Shyam could not forget what she said.
*I don't know what to say. He is not what you are thinking. He is from a small village. He didn't even complete tenth standard. Earns only twenty-five thousand per month by driving a car. He resides in a small room. If he is a rich man, as you said, why should he stay in a middle-class area? Do you know how he searched for a girl for marriage? Even my sister didn't want to marry him because he earns less. If he is a multimillionaire, why should he marry me? Won't rich girls line up to marry him?* Khushi's words echoed in his ears.
So, the girl didn't know who ASR was. She thought Arnav was a simple car driver who lived in a small room in a middle-class area.
Arnav removed Khushi's bangles from his pocket.
"If you have noticed Khushi keenly when she talked to you, you would have noticed these bangles in her hand." Arnav showed them to Shyam.
Shyam saw those bangles in Khushi's hands when she talked to him.
"She gave them to me for my mother's medical expenses. Have you ever seen such a girl in your life? These are her mother's bangles. She gave them to me because she doesn't want me to struggle for money. Usually, girls would expect expensive gifts from their boyfriend, especially if they are poor. But my Khushi expects nothing more from me than love. She is ready to feed me... spend money on me to be with me... I hope you understand that she is not senseless or unethical after talking to her. She talked to you so clearly. Right?"
Shyam was silent.
"So, I won the challenge and proved to myself that I can make a girl fall for my character. There is a girl who would love me for myself, not for my money or my charms..."
"She might like a bearded guy..."
"No... she doesn't like a bearded guy. Her only request is that I should not have a beard on our wedding day. She doesn't like beards, yet she loves me..."
Shyam gulped hard.
"You can check if you have a doubt..."
Shyam took a deep breath and said,
"Yes, I would definitely check..."
Arnav frowned.
"As you took my challenge seriously, I too will take it seriously and check. Then only I can accept my defeat..." Shyam said.
"What do you mean?" Arnav shrank his eyes.
"I will check if she truly doesn't give heed to money..."
"You can do it, but I will not spare you if you try to manipulate her..."
"I will definitely do it..."
"Whaaat?"
"But I will not tell her anything bad about you. Trust me... I want her to be stubborn in her stand. If she stands firm in her stand, I will accept my defeat..."
"She will..."
"Tell me, check..."
"What will you tell her?"
"Do you want me to OUT the question paper?" Shyam asked teasingly.
"I will check if she falls for money..."
"Are you going to ask her to leave me?"
"I will not ask her that... but something..." Shyam said what he would tell Khushi.
Arnav smirked.
To be continued...
