Part 23 Open talk

Khushi came to her room and connected her mobile with a charger. She sat on the bed and again stood at the same speed as Arnav entered her room. She got frozen, seeing him.

"Hi..." Arnav said softly.

"Hi..." Khushi reciprocated while looking at the entrance panicking.

Without minding about it,

"How are you?" Arnav asked.

Khushi got stuck. Should she say the truth that she was not fine from the time she got separated from him? Or should she lie?

"Fine..." she lied.

"Really?" Arnav asked with deep meaning.

"How about you...?" She asked without answering his question.

"I'm not fine, from the time you were snatched from me..." Arnav said gulping down.

He didn't hesitate to say the truth. Of course, Khushi didn't expect that. She felt choking. How could she say that she too was in the same turmoil? She looked down, didn't want to show how weaker she becoming in front of him.

"Do you know how much I missed you, Khushi? I was literally dying"

She could not hold her eyes from tearing up.

"People may think wrongly if they see you in my room..."

"So?"

Khushi looked at him gulping.

"I know how to manage people. I became an expert in it... unlike before" he said.

"Sanjay..." she tried to divert the topic.

"He is the only relief of my life..." Arnav said.

"I heard you left your Army service for him," she said hesitating.

"Yes... I was fed up with being in Army. It made me feel like I have no one. I wanted a change. That's why I quit the military. It's good that I quit Army... then only I got a chance to meet you..."

Khushi was suffocating by his unhidden talks.

"Just because we met, what's going to change, Arnav? What can we get?" she asked hiding her inner turmoil.

"Peace of mind..." Arnav said.

"I think instead of thinking about our past, we should concentrate on our present because I have Sagar and you have Sanju to get focused on"

"Have you forgotten me, Khushi?" he asked her painfully.

Khushi turned opposite him. How could she tell him, she could even forget her own self but him?

"Why, Khushi? Can't you lie looking into my eyes?" Arnav asked agonizingly.

"Arnav please... try to understand. please don't make me weaker"

"Already, I'm... how could I hold myself after meeting you? How could I stay away from you Khushi?"

"We have to because we are not in the state to think about ourselves... we have a responsibility"

"I know what my responsibility is... THEN and NOW... is it wrong to even talk to you? Won't you give me that happiness too? Am I not a deserving fellow to get a bit of happiness from you Khushi?"

"It will lead our lives into trouble... please, try to understand, Arnav..."

"Touch your heart and say that I'm not in your heart...?"

"Unnecessary argument is not going to change anything between us. I don't want to talk about it anymore"

"That's all you could say?"

Khushi was silent. What else she could say?

"You have brought up your son very well. He respects his FATHER a lot. I wonder how could you make Sagar believe, the cheap person who snatched someone's wife and living with her shamelessly, without having any regret is great" he said gritting his teeth.

Khushi so wanted to answer the question but she was not in the condition to do it.

"You should forget our past for our betterment, Arnav" she swallowed hard.

"Ok, fine... I won't disturb you but you can't stop me from thinking of you..." Arnav said firmly.

He walked towards the exit and stopped.

"Khushi..." he called, turning towards her.

Khushi looked at him embarrassingly.

"Can I ask you something?"

Khushi looked at him and said nothing.

"Why did you name your son SAGAR that gives the same meaning as my name?"

Khushi tried to say, Arnav stopped her,

"Don't say, it's coincidence... I'm not a fool to believe it. Think whatever, I LOVE YOU... STILL... and I know you too have not forgotten me yet... the teardrops that slipped from your eyes while listening to the song KUCH NA KAHO told me about you that you are also struggling with our memories... just like I do..." he left the place.

Khushi swayed like a kite with a broken string. She sat on the bed with a thud. What was he up to? He was married... he has a wife and kid... how could he be so adamant? She gulped down hard. She decided not to go in front of him.

But, it didn't work. OF course, she avoided going in front of him but she could not stop Arnav from following her. He was not ready to stay away from her. That action of him made Khushi scared. What if he followed her to Meerut? If he did that, he will get to know she was still single and Sagar was his son. Then he could not be controlled. Khushi felt bad for Arnav's wife who didn't even exist...

Night

Khushi was lying on the bed and obviously thinking about Arnav and his talks. It was 9 pm and Sagar had not returned to their room. He was never late to bed like that day. Don't know what he was doing. She came out and saw Madhav getting down the stairs. If Madhav was here, where was Sagar?

"Madhav, where is Sagar?"

"He is chitchatting with Major on the terrace, aunty"

Was Sagar chitchatting with Arnav?

"Could you please tell him that I'm waiting for him?"

"Sure aunty"

Madhav went to the terrace.

"Sagar, aunty is waiting for you," Madhav said.

Sagar looked at his watch and bit his tongue.

"Oh, God... I didn't even sense that I'm running out of time. We will talk tomorrow, Major"

"It's just 9 pm..." Arnav said

"I should be at home at 9 pm and it's an unwritten rule of our home, Major".

"Will your mother scold you?"

"No... she won't... yet, I would to be at home at 9 o'clock"

Arnav sighed. How beautiful Khushi and Sagar's life was...! what a great son Sagar was...

"Good night, Major" Sagar galloped downstairs.

Arnav followed him. He saw Khushi waiting for Sagar.

"I'm sorry, Mom... I was so engrossed with Major"

Khushi so wanted to say, YOU TOO? She just smiled and was about to get in,

"Good night, Sagar..." Said Arnav.

"Good night Major..."

"Get your mother's permission and sleep with us one night... we will have fun," Arnav said looking at Khushi.

Sagar looked at Khushi who was looking down. Sagar nodded ok slightly, looking at Khushi. Arnav left the place and Khushi locked the door sighing.

"Mom, what do you think about Major?" Sagar asked eagerly.

Khushi got stuck.

"I...? What do I think...?"

"Is not he a great man?"

Khushi huffed and nodded yes.

"I like him very much, Mom. You know what, I feel connectivity within us often"

Khushi looked at him without a blink. How could she say Arnav was the only person with whom he had all the connectivity?

"It feels like, I want to be with him all the time, Mom"

"Sagar, you are a strong guy who never gets attached to something that is not permanent..."

"But, Major is going to be permanent in my life..."

Khushi was shocked.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm studying in Delhi... he also going to settle down in Delhi... so, we can meet often"

Khushi wondered. That was the first time, Sagar was looking so curious to be with someone. What could she name this other than fate? She didn't know whether this was GOOD or BAD. If Sagar became fond of Arnav, there was much chance for Arnav to get to know about their story. Then Arnav would get to know Khushi was single. Then he could not be stoppable. What would she do if it happened? She had no idea.

To be continued...
