32 Stubbornness
Part 32 Stubbornness
Sagar had breakfast with his parents and Aman. After having breakfast, they came to the room and sat together.
"Arnav, what will be your parent's reaction if they get to know about Khushi and Sagar?" Aman asked.
Arnav smiled and said nothing.
"Didn't they try to get you married in these years, Dad?"
Before Arnav answered,
"Don't ask about it, Sagar... only we knew how hard it was for us to manage Arnav and his parents" Aman said.
"In which way uncle?"
"On one side they want him to get married and on the other side, he never wanted to get married. That was the reason he joined in Army. He wanted to avoid emotional dramas. So, he escaped" Aman laughed.
"Is it?"
"Not only that, your mother was house arrested after their separation. She called a famous TV channel and told about her and Arnav in a LIVE program. Before that, Arnav's family faced many problems through the police. His father was highly dissatisfied. In between that, Arnav was fully set to bring Khushi back. His father got to know that and drank poison to stop him"
"Whaaaaat?" Khushi was shocked.
Arnav nodded yes.
"He tried to get Arnav's promise that he should not take any step to bring you back"
Sagar and Madhav looked at Arnav painfully.
"But, our hero had a twist" Aman laughed.
"What was that?"
"He too had poison instead of promising"
Khushi and Sagar looked at Arnav shockingly whereas Madhav whistled.
"You rocked, Major"
"My father thought he could stop me, from emotionally blackmailing me. I just turned the table"
"Then what did he do?"
"They stopped talking to me. My mother hit me hard. She said I'm not his son"
"Then?"
"NK said Khushi went to the US. I lost hope. After that, I didn't like to live. But I don't want my life to be wasted. So, I decided to give it to the nation. Without telling anyone, I joined Army"
"Didn't your parents try to talk to you?"
"Talk? They arranged his marriage too" Aman said, smiling.
"Oh God... then? How did you escape from the marriage, Major?"
"Yeah, they telegrammed him that his mother was serious"
"He rushed from Assam to see his mother. After coming to Delhi only he got to know it was an excuse to trap him. We were warned not to tell him anything until he reached home. I can still remember... how Arnav jumped off the train with his KITBAG" Aman smiled.
"Then?" Sagar asked curiously.
"Then what? He became a cyclone. The beast he was suppressing inside him came out" Aman laughed.
"Interesting... tell us in detail," Madhav asked.
"The wedding hall shivered to see wrathful Arnav. Even his parents didn't expect that kind of reaction from him"
Flashback
"What the hell is this, Mom?"
"Arnav, I will die if you don't marry"
"I will die if I get married. Is it ok?"
There was a shock on his mother's face.
"This is what your respect for us?"
"Why don't you respect my feelings?"
"The girl who you love is gone... why don't you understand that?"
"She is gone... it was not her fault. She was forced... and you are also doing the same with me"
"Being your parents, what else would we do?"
"I'm going to tell the Bride's family that I'm not interested in this marriage because I'm already married"
"They already knew about it. we told them everything because we don't want you to face problems due to your past mistake"
"It was not a mistake..."
"You will forget her if you get married, Arnav"
"I don't want to forget her... I will never forget her..." he walked out.
His father blocked his way.
"Where are you going?"
"To meet Bride's father"
"I told you..."
"You might have told them that I'm already married. There is something for me to tell them..."
"What are you going to tell them? He won't mind if you tell them anything about Khushi"
"Oh really? Won't he mind if I tell him, I can never accept his daughter as my wife? I can never forget the time I spent with Khushi... I have already declared Khushi as my wife in my defense records?"
"Whaaaaat? Did you declare her as your wife?"
"Of course, She is indeed my wife..."
"Why are you behaving like mad?"
Glaring at him, Arnav walked towards the Bride's room. his father followed him nervously. The Bride's father smiled at him.
"I'm already married"
"I know Damadji"
"What do you know? Do you know I have not forgotten the touch of my wife yet?"
The bride's father became horrified.
"I will never forget her... understand that"
"But, my daughter's life will get spoilt if you don't marry her"
Arnav rolled his eyes and went to the bride.
"Look, sister..."
The girl looked at him surprisingly.
"This is how I see you"
"thank you, Bhai" the girl joined her hands.
Arnav raised his brows.
"Don't you like this marriage?" Arnav asked.
"No... I'm forced to marry you"
Arnav looked at her father who advanced her wrathfully. Arnav stopped him blocking his way.
"Why did he force you?" Arnav asked.
"I love someone. My father doesn't like him"
"Why doesn't he like him?"
She was silent.
"Tell me"
"He is not our community"
Arnav gritted his teeth, rolling his eyes.
"How long do you guys separate lovers in the name of community? Is your community more important than your children's happiness? Don't you understand you are killing us alive?" Arnav exclaimed.
Arnav looked at the girl.
"Who is the guy? Where is he?"
"He is here only"
"Where?"
"Outside"
Arnav was about to clutch her hand, and he stopped.
"What's your age? Are you a major?"
"Haan... I'm twenty"
Clutching her hand, Arnav walked out.
"What are you doing?" her father shouted.
Without giving him heed, he came to the hall.
"Who is he?"
The girl raised her index finger towards a guy.
"Do you love her?" he asked the guy who was standing at ten feet distance.
He nodded yes.
"Will you protect her like your own life?"
He again nodded yes.
"I love her so much... I want to marry her..."
"Come on"
He brought them to the stage. The Pandit was staring at them wondering.
"Start chanting," Arnav said.
The Pandit ran his eyes on the people.
"I said to start" he shouted.
"I won't let this marriage happen," Bride's father said.
"She is a major. You can't force her if she doesn't like anything"
"Arnav, this is not done," Arnav's father said.
"You should not have arranged the marriage, Dad. Because of your selfishness, two lives would have been spoilt"
Arnav looked at the Pandit who started chanting hymns automatically. He extended the mangal sutra to the guy and tied it around the girl's neck and filled her partition. After finishing the pheras, they came to Arnav, and about to touch his feet, Arnav stopped them.
"Marriage is not a success of your LOVE but the way you are going to live together with understanding. Don't give a chance to people to talk rubbish who doesn't want you to marry. Be an example and shut their mouths" Arnav said running his eyes on both their parents.
Arnav came to his father.
"Don't you dare call me ever... I'm not going to come here from here on"
Flashback ended.
"Arnav left his house forever. He never went to his house after that" Aman said.
"Wow, Major... you are a real hero," Madhav said.
Arnav smiled. Khushi was admiring him with a smile whereas Sagar felt proud of his father. This was new to Khushi and Sagar. They didn't know this side of the story.
"Aman, where is Sanju? I'm not seeing him" Arnav asked.
"He is with his Nani."
"oh..."
"Let me check him" Aman left the place.
Sagar saw Madhav and gestured something.
"I need something to eat," Madhav said, understanding his gesture.
"Shall I buy something?" Arnav asked.
"No Major... I will get something from the kitchen" he stood up.
"Wait, I will also come" Sagar joined him.
They also left the room.
Arnav changed his place next to Khushi. She took his palm in her hand.
"Were you so stubborn not to get married?" she asked.
"what do you think?"
"What if I had got married?"
Arnav shrugged his shoulders off and lay on her lap.
"Don't think of Ifs and BUTs Khushi. Just think about our present. We have a so good son. I admire him a lot. you have brought him up very well. I think that was the reason for our separation"
"what do you mean?"
Arnav sat on the bed again.
"I'm sure I would have spoilt him pampering him a lot if I had been with him. To give a good son to this society, we spared the separation, I suppose"
"Sagar will feel bad if he hears your ULTIMATE reason"
Arnav smiled painfully.
"I don't know how to console myself. We lost twenty years. It's a very big loss" he kissed her knuckle.
Khushi nodded yes and leaned on his shoulder.
"I don't know how did you manage with a kid all alone. Adding to it, you have completed your graduation and become a special teacher. I'm really sorry"
"What about you? You too passed the longest life span in between the toughest forests and mountain ranges... you were also not enjoying your life... right?"
Arnav smiled softly.
They saw Sagar and Madhav coming with a samosa plate. Madhav extended it to Arnav.
"Take it Major"
Taking one from the plate, Arnav gave it to Khushi who was sitting on his right side. Sagar sat on the left side of Arnav, taking a samosa. Arnav circled his shoulder and leaned towards him. his question made Sagar hiccup.
"What about NEYA?"
Sagar looked at Arnav with shock, like, how did he know about Neya?
