Part 16 Argument

Khushi closed her eyes tightly, hearing Arvind's voice. She looked at him and said,

"Nothing, uncle. We just discussed the Temple function." Khushi tried to cover up.

Arvind sulked. He heard her telling Arnav not to say anything to him and to give her some time. Arvind looked at Arnav questioningly.

"Sir, I need to talk to you," Arnav said, making Khushi nervous.

"Tell me, Arnav," Arvind got into his room.

"Sir, you may think this is too early, but I don't want to delay."

"What are you talking about?"

"I like Khushi. I want to marry her," Arnav said, keenly reading his expression. Arvind was absolutely shocked, as he hadn't expected that, but Arnav read his face and took the shock differently because he expected him to be shocked, and we know the reason.

"Why, sir, don't you want us to get married?"

Arvind composed himself.

"No, no... actually, I'm so glad. I want Khushi to have a good life, but marriage is not a simple thing that can be held just like that."

"What do you want to do, sir?"

"We should match your horoscopes first. We can take the proposal further only after they match."

"I don't believe in horoscope and all. And I think you have forgotten something. Khushi has no horoscope because you don't know her birth time but found her in the temple. Then, how could you match our horoscopes?"

"Yeah... you are right. But we can match your NAMES. It's a custom here. We can match the groom and bride's names if we don't have horoscopes."

"Won't you allow us to marry if our names don't match?"

Arvind was stuck. He didn't know what to say because Arnav looked severe enough.

"Actually, Khushi has no one... She lost her parents at a young age and has been living in this palace since then," Arvind explained.

"She has me, Sir," Arnav said, making Arvind Perplexed and Khushi content.

"You came to this village only three days ago..."

Cutting him,

"What's the point, sir? In an arranged marriage, do the groom and the bride get a chance to spend time or what? They just see one another and agree to marry. Our story would be much better if an arranged marriage were acceptable because we would have spent THREE full days with each other and understood each other. Is not it enough to decide?"

Arvind understood Arnav was not going to hear any of his excuses. He just wanted Arnav's wedding to happen grandly with all the PRINCE things. Arnav was going to be a KING. Arvind didn't want his wedding to happen simply. More than that, he wanted Arnav to get the recognition before his wedding. Arvind tried to announce him as his SON, but Arnav didn't seem to let it happen. It would take time, but it appeared Arnav would not give him time.

Arvind looked at Khushi and asked,

"Khushi, do you like Arnav?"

Khushi looked at Arnav hesitatingly, who looked at her sharply, shrinking his eyes and tightening his jaws. Khushi gulped down and nodded yes, making Arnav feel relieved.

"I hope you have no problem getting us married now," Arnav said.

"I don't know what made you hurry." Arvind plastered a smile, not showing his disappointment.

"Why should not I hurry? I like Khushi. She likes me. Then, why should we delay?"

"I will ask our astrologer to match your name. Then we will decide. Ok?"

Arvind was supposed to leave the place but stopped hearing,

"May I ask you something?"

Arvind looked at Arnav.

"The much I know, your wedding would have happened only after matching your horoscope. Then, why don't your life is successful? Why is your wife in this stage? Didn't your astrologer tell you about it?"

Arvind was shocked. Khushi looked at Arvind nervously. She didn't know why Arnav was talking to Arvind sharply. Without answering him, Arvind left the place. Arnav looked at Khushi, who came to him, making an angry face.

"Why are you talking to Uncle Arvind like that? I can't allow you to do that. It would be best if you did not talk to him like that. Would you have talked to my father like this if I had a father?"

"He is not your father. Just because he raised you, he can't make all the decisions of your life. Marriage is purely your personal matter. Even your biological father can't force you to marry someone you don't like."

"He didn't force me. He wanted to match our names. What's wrong with that?"

"Won't you marry me if our names don't match?"

Khushi sighed.

"I don't know why you're behaving oddly..." Khushi sighed and was supposed to go, but Arnav pulled her towards him, clutching her hand.

She was dumbfounded and looked at him, perplexed.

"I'm behaving oddly because I like you. I will not behave oddly if you don't like me, but you do. What else do we need for a wedding after the groom and the bride like each other? What's wrong with my question? He is a King, and his father was also a King. I'm sure he would not have gotten him married to Ratna madam without matching their horoscope. Then, why is he not happy? Why is Ratna madam mentally ill?"

"Arnav sir, some questions are unanswered. We are not intelligent enough to understand God's plan. It's all our fate. We will get a life according to our KARMA."

"If it is so, why should we match horoscope and all? However, we will get what we deserve..."

Khushi was supposed to say something, but Arnav stopped her by showing his palm.

"I just want to know only one thing. Will you marry me or not?"

Khushi was supposed to answer......r, but again, Arnav stopped her.

"Don't talk like I'm an OPTION. I want you to accept me willingly because I believe a relationship should be built based on LOVE. If we love each other, why would we have problems in future? Won't we lead our lives happily?"

"Arnav, sir, you don't understand my condition. I have known you for three days, but Uncle Arvind is my Godfather. He gave me life, shelter, food, and education. How could I ignore him just because I got you? Wouldn't I be ungrateful if I did that?"

Arnav didn't know how to make her understand.

"I don't know why you are doing this."

"What am I doing?" Arnav asked, heating up.

"You were not supposed to come to this village but to go to another village. You got a job in this village unexpectedly and settled down here. You didn't have an idea to get married when you came to this village. It's just three days since you came here. I don't know why you suddenly became so stubborn," Khushi sighed.

"Yes, I didn't have an idea about my wedding when I came to this village. But now, I do. I didn't think I would get a girl like you in this village then. How could I miss you after understanding how nice you are?"

Khushi looked down, not knowing what to say.

"Khushi, I don't know who my father is. This society insulted and taunted me, but my mother never thought about the struggle I faced in society. I faced only disappointment in my life. That was why I didn't think of my wedding. I didn't think any girl would understand me, but you did. You found my anger and the action followed by it reasonable. That was the least expected. You are the only one who understood me so far. How could I miss you, Khushi? Why won't I hurry to marry you?"

Khushi was speechlessly gazing at him.

"I like you so much. I need you in my life... forever... beside me!" he gulped.

Khushi felt something in her heart. It seemed she, too, would start loving him if she heard his emotion-filled speeches.

The highlight was that even Arnav didn't know why or how he became emotional. It was not planned. He didn't know how he spoke.

"Do you want us to elope?" Khushi asked, making a face.

Arnav was stuck for a few seconds and laughed.

"Will you elope with me?"

She fiddled with her bangle.

"Do you trust me that extreme to elope?"

She nodded yes without thinking.

"Really?"

"Yes... because this village accepted you. It allowed you to stay here. You are someone special. So, anyone can trust you by closing their eyes."

"I don't want others to trust me but you."

"I trust you."

"How much?"

"I will marry you even if our names don't match..." She said and ran smilingly.

Arnav smiled.

After finishing dinner, he came to the bed and drifted into sleep quickly, as he was tired.

Arnav saw the same man smiling at him, standing in his room.

"You? How did you come here?"

"I came here to tell you something."

"What?"

"Go and bring the medicine."

"But everyone says it's very tough."

"Yes, but not for you. You can do it... go and bring medicine. You will get to know many things... go... don't listen to anyone... Go..." He shouted like hell.

Arnav woke up from his sleep and understood it was a dream.

To be continued...
